That game is in a nutshell why we will be bottom 6 again this season. Three home games against poor sides and we have 2 points.
-
Unchanged. Solid looking lineup. Shame as we planned for a 5-3-2 this season that we have zero wide players aside from Redmond and Elyounoussi so hopefully they go through the season without injury. Looks a more vibrant team than last year!

Big game for our season. Win and we can possibly look up to the top half for the first time in ages. Lose and we will likely be in the bottom 6 for a long while. Draw is meh - likliest outcome IMO.

Doing well for the U23s this season and looks a promising player with the mix of pace and power combined with finishing ability that is rare to find. Need to ensure he is tied down to a long contract.

I was at Mane's debut in the cup at Arsenal where he was a big threat and it was clear (to me at least) that he would be a good player for us as he comittee defenders. Seem to remember a sublime Tadic assist on his debut at Anfield and pretty much being quality straight away. Certainly both showed far more initially than Moi has so far. Hopefully he gets a goal on Monday.

Austin in hamstring injury shocker after the recent workload of a couple of sub appearances.

Who plays alongside Ings vs Brighton?
Dusic replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Possibly Armstrong as a 10 and Ings up top? -

Isnt it basically the same but with Gabbi for Long and Ings as a no 9 instead of 10?

Hughes has had 12 PL games in which we have been average at best. Koeman delivered 7th and 6th. Poles apart.
-
And only just noticed the utterly ludicrous bit about being on par with Koeman (7th inheriting a mess, then 6th), which points you out as clueless anyway.
-
Far too soon to say he is better than Puel, and I agreed with the decision to sack him. Better in press conferences, but I would imagine fewer points per game for starters.
-
You forgot Saints. Definitely in the mix.
-
He is good at running and is a nice lad.
-
League One is a massive step up from the U23 PL Second division. If he is going to make it at Saints then he will boss it at Burton...
-
His confidence looks to be improved this season so far, taking people on more. Hopefully has a breakout game soon with a goal or two and can kick on from there. Great cameo at Brighton, did exactly what you would want him to, looked sharp and really a class above everyone else.

Suprised this didn't get a mention in the Fans Forum. Utterly dreadful squad planning to end up with a 3rd choice GK as one of your highest paid players.
-
Just to check do you mean if we had signed Shaqiri for £13m it would have been a bad signing?
-
Poor last night vs Brighton. Didn't look to have any real pace or invention about him. Early days but hasn't shown what you would have hoped given he had a full pre season. Needs to up his game.

After watching tonight, we probably should have sold Gabbi in the summer whilst he still had a decent sale value in Italy. Clear Hughes doesn't rate him and physically he really offers nothing. His strengths are negated as the team doesn't play to them. He isn't a bad player, far from it, but he won't ever do anything at Saints as we aren't setup to suit him. Having a player of that potential and quality as a bit part isn't the right thing for anyone, but he doesn't deserve to be in the team based on performances.

Just on way back from what was a dire game until the last 10mins. You wouldn't think many of those lads were playing for a place in the team. A few, JWP, Gabbi, Romeu seem to find football a joyless experience. No creative passing whatsoever and first half it was truely woeful. Improved second half, mainly with Armstrong getting into the game more and the subs, especially Gallagher who added what Gabbi failed to produce i.e some intensity, pressure on defenders and a bit of power. Good goal, excellent from Redmond and good header from Austin, who is more suited to shorter bursts of higher intensity. Positives: - Davis looked much sharper than during pre season and played well - Gunn looked solid - Gallagher showed he could be a good bench option. Negatives: - Stephens isnt a good enough backup RB - Romeu and JWP were woeful. No suprise JWP doesn't get a game in centre mid very often - Elyounoussi was very poor. Lacks and any pace and certainoy nowhere near what Tadic was. My biggest disappointment. Overall: Its not hard to see why we struggle to score. Whoever is selected the team lacks pace, guile, intent and most importantly personality. Quite a few look like its a chore rather than something they enjoy, certainly on the ball. We are a poor side in many respects but into the next round nonetheless

Nobody would have Mourinho over Pochettino.
-
Pochettino really knows how to setup a team. Oh what mosy clubs would do for a Manager of his quality.

Start of this season was as vital to get the fans back onside as much as anything, but with the poor form displayed so far there are an increasing number of Papa Waigo's and rightly so.

He is ****e and the more minutes he gets the worse a season it will indicate us having.
