By all accounts Huddersfield have played well in some of the games they have lost - they just lack goals in a big way. In January possibly they will sort that? Re Newcastle - check their fixtures between now and January. They could comfortably pick up double the points we likely will. I think they will do enough to stay up personally, and they are defensively sound.
-
Huddersfield, Fulham, Newcastle, Cardiff and Saints. Leicester and above are already safe IMO and I don't see West Ham or Palace being in the bottom 3. Burnley will grind enough out at home. Grim, grim start considering fixtures.
-
He is a decent PL squad player who probably needs a move to be put out of his Saints bubble and revitalise his career. All IMHO of course, Morph
-
Well for a start Stekelenburg and Davis were worse for us in the PL and thats just the most recent era of no1s.
-
So, just to check: 1. Forster is one of the worst goalkeepers we have ever had? 2. You expect him to sign a new 5 year contract and then a year later agree to almost halving his pay?
-
Which teams were those then, seeing as you appear to know? So basically we were expecting Forster to very quickly decide to: a.) Take a pay cut b.) Move to a Championship club Not exactly good treatment of a player we deemed worthy of a new 5 year contract 12 months before to presumably stop him moving elsewhere. As for the Ralph quote, he and the club are the ones that lose credibility as they are not doing as they say.
-
Who were the host of clubs that wanted Forster? Some options in a madhouse like Turkey? What if he wants to live in the UK? He signed a 5 year contract a year beforehand on a certain wage which probably prohibts him from moving, but Saints were perfectly happy to pay him that at the time so you can't just let his career rot because he wasn't playing well. Just think its not how you treat a senior pro, especially for a club that according to Ralph says it differentiates itself on how we treat people.
-
IMO current treatment of Maya Yoshida and Steven Davis is pretty poor from the club - especially given current struggles. Both are model pros, leaders for their country and have been great servants at Saints. Seems like Davis is being phased out but IMO he still has a role even if from the bench. Yoshida even more bizarre and its actually a bit off how he has been treated. He is extremely well liked by teammates. Could equally add Forster, put in a very difficult position by the club. Fair enough he wasnt playing well but he doesn't deserve this. Not a good way to treat senior pros and won't have gone unnoticed by others within the squad.

Austin beyond awful at the moment. Still not sure why Saints fans love the guy so much - he has about 14 goals in nearly 3 years at Saints! Shouldn't be considered as a starting option anymore.
-
1. Hughes Out - no plan, no philosophy 2. Starting Austin is like playing with 10 men 3. Hoedt was actually very good 4. Lemina also 5. Gap already appeared in the league unlike last year. We won't ever be higher than 13th this season and probably a lot lower.

Why do you mention Redmond in every single post about JWP? Bizarre.
-
Delicious irony here.
-
Would imagine this is becoming increasingly likely - he isn't even a bit part player at the moment.
-
Ormerod over Jay Rod for finishing? Interesting.
-
Tough choice but if no shot is taken then thats almost certain relegation, so may as well let one have it.
-
Scenario: Saints are home to Newcastle in the final game of a PL season which despite club PR about a top 10 finish has winded up in a relegation battle that fans spotted in November, 4 months before the Club's hapless Manager was fired following a run of 7 defeats. Saints start brightly and take the lead but Newcastle equalise. Only a win will save Saints from relegation and in the last minute a player is put through, 30 yards from goal with just the keeper to beat. As they reach the edge of the area, would you rather it were Ormerod or Long? For me: I've never seen a player scuff more shots than Brett whilst Shano often looks he cannot strike a ball properly and has an utterly awful first touch so might well toe it to the keeper by accident. Would have to be Brett for me.
-
And the biggest differences: 1. We have no youth players to sell for massive cash unlike Shaw, Chambers, Lallana etc. 2. We have had a couple of poor Managers who haven't improved players.
-
If we are starting with Long for a decent part of the season then we will continue to struggle to score goals. He is ****e and in the worst form of his career. He should really be struggling to make the bench, let alone the first XI.
-
Richardson as a front sweeper for this one IMO.
-
Our problem is we should sign players like Moi in addition to what we have in those positions, like Brighton did with Jahanbakhsh for example. They have eased him in, reducing pressure on him as a big signing. Instead, Moi has had to immediately replace Tadic, possibly the best creative player outside the top 6 over the last 4 seasons. So far, he is a downgrade, but he has been thrown in, playing a league a huge step up from where he was before. Needs to show more though.
-
Not a snipe at all. Its our whole business model! If he keeps doing well and leaves for £35m then great.
-
Anything other than a win in this mtach and IMO its almost inconceivable that this season will be about anything other than a survival battle. Win and there is a slight possibility we could push upwards a bit. Hope we try a 4-2-3-1 with Armstrong in for Austin.
-
He is doing well to setup his next move. Fair play to the lad.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Dusic replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Yet another **** show if Vestergaard isn't considered better than the dross we had last year. -
Thats very naïve. We didn't suddenly become interested in him a couple of hours before the deadline. If we had the cash we would have bought him sooner. There is no advantage in a loan with a guarantee to buy. In fact it means there are games he cannot play in which is a clear disadvantage! To me it seems obvious its to do with not paying another big fee this year. We are going to be paying it whatever happens so logic dictates we just didnt want to pay it now.
