Pretty sure he is also on his initial deal from when he signed and back then he wouldnt have been on crazy PL money and likely far less than what Alex McCarthy gets now. Seeing as he provides good value for it, I can't see that is an issue, certainly not this season.
-
FWIW that Frazer Fletcher used to write on Football Insider and pretty much nothing he said was ever accurate. One thing for sure, losing KWP would be a monumental blow and he would need replacing. He is certainly one of the best players in this league.
-
Also in the case of all of our loanees, its not unrealistic to sign them permanently, and I think that makes a difference. Pretty much all of them (Downes maybe a little unknown) would snap your hand off if they could sign permanently and play for us next season in the PL, so they maybe throw themselves fully into it more than some loanees do when its clearly just a short term move.

I'm sure it wasn't the number one priority, RM himself has said that wide right is. But we are allowed to sign more than one player this window and Holgate going elsewhere would hardly be a suprise! Edit - no more posts but re Hypo below, Dyche doesnt give a shit where Holgate is as long as its not back at Everton. If he can find a club who can pay what Everton want then he will be recalled and sent out to somewhere else. No point doing that until his new destination is agreed but personally would be very suprised if he is still here in Feb, even more so after this signing.

Keep your money because the scenario above is ludicrous.

Some weird reactions on here to what seems a sensible low risk move to add a multi functional midfielder who is experienced at this level and who has played above it, with the bonus of having played with a couple of our players and being available for the FA Cup where we will rotate for as long as we are in it. We have Aribo away, Stu Armstrong with a history of injuries, Downes with recurring illness and a packed Feb and March schedule where we will obviously make changes game to game. For me the only intrigue this adds is with Holgate (due to us clearly being in the market for a 6th loan of a wide right player). His days are surely numbered here and which means Charles may also be needed at CB on the odd occassion. For the conspiracy theorists - there is no point in Stu Armstrong wanting out now when he is out of contract in the summer and will also know our status to be able to make an informed decision. Alcaraz recently signed a new contract and in Friday's press conference Russell Martin seemed very comfortable re any outgoings. This just seems a sensible, low riak option to take when we are obviously constrained due to FFP and the big money wasted last Jan.

The way he has pretty much involved and energised every fit member of the squad is excellent management.
-
We are obviously a better team when he plays and equally obviously, would be weaker when/if he leaves. We would do very well to replace with someone nearly as good as him.
-
19 league games unbeaten, doing a great job. Excellent appointment and exactly what we needed.

Many sides don't have £30m to spend, and even that is no guarentee when you consider the likes of Beto, Fabio Silva, Scamacca, Cunha etc. Adams is a decent striker, scored 9 PL goals a couple of seasons ago and 7 after that. Not a groundbreaking number of course but for a minimal fee a solid buy, hence why there is interest. Don't really understand why he is seen as some kind of joke figure by some on here; seems to me like an honest player with some good attributes, especially when paired with another striker. In his 3.5 years at Saints we have largely been a better team when he has been in it.
-
No suprise of interest in Adams. To get 27yo homegrown striker with 3 years PL experience for a fee of less than £5m and sensible wages will suit a fair few. He also seems like a good egg and his injury/availability record is also very good.
-
Out of interest, had you ever heard of him before today?

Seems like we are after a technical player (in the Lallana mould) rather than another pacy type. Makes sense given the make up of our attack as we haven't really got any guile-type attackers. I can see Brooks happening - he fits the bill in terms of being technical and knowing the EFL and would probably feel like he has something to prove at 26 and with a possible Euros at the end of the season. Clearly there are a lot of games in Feb/March but if Sulemana and Edozie are back in time for those then we do only need to sign someone in this position if they are a player who is good enough to start a lot of games between now and the end of the season.

Hull are building quite a nice team, especially going forward. Will surely get Playoffs.
-
Probably not a bad thing as we should have a few more players back by the time its played.

Aside from pace, Obafemi had (has) nothing. Mara clearly does and IMO worth persisting with, especially as he is a sub most of the time. Clearly he shows quality in training as Hasenhuttl, Jones and Martin have all talked him up, especially his finishing. Perhaps it will click into place for him soon...
-
His injury can't be too bad and I guess the demand as a GK is different to that of an outfielder so a good way to rehab him. Good for him to recover a bit closer to home and then come back next season fully fit and ready to go.
-
He came from Dyson and has never worked north of Oxford, pal. -------- E-I-E-I-E-I-O, Phil Parsons is our CEO, From Dyson to the Championship, As part of Rasmus' power trip (We hate Pompey)

We had him on loan, We had him on loan, Kevin Danso, we had him on loan

Again, it hinges on Adams. We didnt expect Stewart to be up to speed until December anyway and the club will probably accept decent offers for Adams in Jan considering his contract situation. If he goes then obviously we need someone. If he doesnt then we have Adams, Armstring and Mara, with Alcaraz able to play up there if we have a mad injury crisis and arguably Sulemana when he is back. It also seems Stewart might be available near the end of the season if absolutely needed. To loan someone in who is better than all of those three would be pretty tough, not to mention costly when we are clearly up against it FFP wise considering how much we spent during our last PL season. We don't need squad fillers, we need players who will improve our starting XI if we make any signings.
-
Disagree, unless we were bringing someone in who was clearly better than Adams - which is highly unlikely, especially if we didnt have the wages/fee saving from selling Adams. IMO we will only get a striker if Adams (or Mara) were to leave. Wide right player is more important I think. Edozie aside, the amount of goals (or goals per mins) from our attacking midfielders is poor and a clear area to target an improvement.
-
Although he is under contract until 2025 so better for Everton if he is playing somewhere and attracting interest for the summer window either for perm move or at least a coub that can pay a decent percentage of his wages on another loan. I imagine Everton will happily recall him once he has found an agreement with another team and when that team agree to at least match whatever financials are involved now. No need for them to recall him before then as they don't want to end up being stuck with him and his full wages for the rest of the season if another move were to break down.
-
IMO, and obviously if fit: -------------Lumley------------ Abu--Stephens--Holgate/Awe---Meghoma -----------Charles-------------- ----Smallbone-----Alcaraz----- Sam Amo--------------Dibling --------------Mara----------- Back four have played so many minutes there is zero point involving them and if Dibling doesnt play at home to Walsall when will he? Strong attacking bench to use if needed.

Onuachu clearly a worse signing than Orsic because of the financial loss. Orsic was a cheap gamble who we already have off the books.
