  1. Great performance from your guys. In the end you deserved the victory. Good luck to you in the next round.
  2. Lots of players fail to work out. Many get far too many chances. I think what is more depressing is players you thought would be better. That's why I am going for Onuachu. I was already depressed by all the other guys and then he came along and took my last prozac and flushed it down the toilet. Not because he is the shittest of the lot, but more because he wasn't better. We were totally in the shit, going down and generally one of the poorest attacking sides in the league, but the one thing we had going for us is that we actually had funds to bring a striker in that could ignite our season. Brilliant, we still had a little hope...but of all the strikers out there we could possibly sign, we got him. I've not been as unexcited by a transfer since Anthony Pulis. The last time we were relegation bound we signed Henri kamara and he was absolutely fucking electric. The goal away at Brum soon after he joined gave every fan that travelled there (me included) a massive slice of hope. This time around, we get a guy that is the complete polar opposite, limited, slow as fuck, blowing out his arse after 25 minutes and providing the goal threat of Kenny Cunningham. I don't totally dislike him by the way, I just hoped for so much more. Maybe next season he rattles in 30, but at this moment in time he (his signing) depresses me the most.
  3. Do you mean clauses that allow them to walk or clauses that cut their wages in half. Not having the latter is far more of a concern if you ask me. Having to pay most of these guys £60k a week (and more) in the championship cos you cant offload them is extremely scary. Watch our £90m of debt increase very quickly indeed.
  4. the difference last night before and after he came on was scary. He immediately grabbed hold of the game and got us playing. He's a damn good player. He's not world class, has his faults and limitations, but he's a decent Premier League standard player. We don't have many that can play in central midfield at this level. He can't do everything, but he has a great touch and weight of pass. If/when we go down, I dread to think who will be playing in midfield. I seem to recall Dennis Wise was one of our CMs in the first season in the championship and unsurprisingly things didn't go well.
  5. Don't get me wrong, I loved Jimmy, got my first season ticket in 1984, so I grew up watching him in our midfield, but when we were getting humped 7-0 at Luton and 6-1 at Everton in 1985/6 season, I wonder of Saints fans were thinking `thank god we had Jimmy's direction and organisation otherwise we could have been thrashed today'. That said, we were a miles better side then than we are now. I might be mistaken, but in my mind Jimmy appeared to be pretty quiet on the pitch, more of a ruthless, silent assassin type of player than a very vocal guy that directed the troops.
  6. As KWP said, you have to look at the positives.
  7. I am not going to argue with you about the need to be a team and the quality of the coaching, but it could be argued that we have the worst keeper in the league. Worst left back in the league. Worst attacking midfielders in the league and worst strikers in the league.
  8. I got Rochdale 2010 vibes
  9. Did he? I don't recall him doing much of note.
  10. I doubt you will get many arguing with that.
  11. We are so fortunate to have him here. He's scored four goals don't you know.
  12. Armstrong is a complete and utter waste of space as a central striker. I was hoping Mara would make a claim for the striker spot, but he only seems keen on winning the nutmeg competition
  13. Agreed. Showed some urgency. He tries to make things happen and has that pace to threaten. He falls over, often looks clumsy, but he actually far more effective than say Edozie, who is slightly (though not greatly) tidier, but never actually gets that cross in. Not a high bar though.
  14. other than JWP, KWP, Lavia and ABK, who the fuck can claim to be our best eleven?

    Elyounoussi

Isn't Orsic, basically just an Ely mark II?
  16. If you don't want to receive that kind of glass half full information, don't fucking follow them then. Simple.
  17. You make a good point. Having better individual players is one thing, but you still need to be a good team. Pretty much every time we have made wholesale changes, the side has looked like a bunch of guys that have never played together before. Which is exactly what they are. We look shit. We always struggle.
  18. You seriously thought it was going to be a 2 or 3 goal cake walk?
  19. Oh I see spurs lost to Sheffield United in the cup. That's embarrassing.
  20. that's the feeling I have when watching Saints. To be honest, the blurred vision improves the show.
  21. He reminds me of Ely.
  22. so exactly as he has been in every other game then. How on earth has he managed to play on the wing for Croatia without any pace? Maybe that will put an end to the clamour for him to play. Jones was spot on for dropping him.
  23. I missed the first half. What was Orsic like?
  24. watch us try.
  25. this is what annoys me about VAR (apart from having VAR at all) . They spend hours getting the lines all correct, but about 2 milliseconds to get the point the ball was kicked sorted. It's extremely hard to judge when the ball has left the boot, yet they just seem to go "that'll do" and move swiftly on.
