fair enough, why the need for a BVI loan then? As for Risdale, his lack of business acumen wasn't questioned when the £60m loan was taken out, it was afterards when it all went wrong that people realised it.
-
Peter Risdale was an ambitious fella
-
can we have his face done out on the seats on all four stands as well?
-
you might be right there. The two serious links seem to be for players that aren't coming. Mayuka might feel like a new signing when he returns from the Jan window should MP find a way to utilise him perhaps more often off the bench.

likewise. I'm also interested to know how £4m of parachute payments could have been initially overlooked. I mean how robust (boy does he like using that totally meaningless word) can the business plan be if an amount like that has been missed. What else has been missed, the £8.5m to be paid to the players? The £1.4m to be paid back to PCC? The amount loaned recently by the HNW individuals? The £2m to PKF? He doesn't even know how much the CVA agreement is FFS. I know its a paltry sum that the creditors are being given but you'd think the PST might know what it is.

For starters Lee is not a left or right midfielder. As for having far more class on the ball, when dod he show that then? Just an ever so slightly better Lee Barnard in my book. Proved absolutely nothing in a Saints shirt IMO.

when did Parker become not good enough? Has his legs gone? He certainly didn't have the energy in the Euros, but he was coming back from injury as a I recall.

Very much a match of two halves. Sadly we didn't take advantage of brilliant first half display. As is often the case after half time the opposition improves and we couldn't maintain the level. I thought we tired very quickly. The'd done a lot of running, but Gaston, Guly and Puncheon seemed to hit a wall energy and movement wise. Gaston had been outstanding, but as soon as his hamstring tightened our threat went. Likewise Guly. His runs beyond the striker caused real problems. Without them we had little going forward. Reasonably happy with a point. Thank god Jelavic is emulating Torres. Boruc 8 great display although kicking is atrocious Clyne 8 also very good. He was our only real threat in the second half. Misses Puncheon when he wanders or is subbed. Yoshida 6 still not convinced. Didn't time his headers all night, but then again its not easy against Fellani. Distribution leaves a lot to be desire too on some occasions. Jos 6 Did the basics well, but you can see he is struggling a little with confidence. Now he is back in the side I feel less sure of my statement that he would do a job for us. I guess he has, but he looks less assured than before we dropped him. Shaw 8 still getting better and better. He's becoming a star very very quickly. Did Ashley Cole get a new deal because Shaw couldn't be prised away? Morgan 8 Brilliant first half, the yellow hampered him, but defensively he was brilliant. Cork 5 worst game for a long time. Gave the ball away more times yesterday than in all the other games put together Puncheon 6 decent first half, maybe an 8, but almost nothing in the second, maybe a 4 Gaston 8 best display in a Saints shirt all be it for one half. Massive threat, great turn of pace and real power in his shooting. Tried to beat one too many in the second and then got injured having tired. Hope he plays in the middle. Been saying it for ages that that is the only place to play him. Can't play out wide. Guly 7 similar to Puncheon. Burnt himself out with a lot of long bursting runs. Kept the ball well. Lambert 7 Brilliant first half, looked very sharp, but service was poor in the second and he looked a bit heavy and made some wrong choices. I thought the Adkins songs were done well and at the right time. The fans got it spot on and I think you could tell from the way the players really thanked us afterwards that they appreciated the proper support during the match. I thought the club were a bit crafty with the loud pre match music playing right up to kick off. Don't usually do this.

I'd agree with that.

add to this Cortese didn't set up the deal out of love for SFC, he did what he was paid to do, find decent play things and business oppotunities for multi millionaires. No one ever thanks Bruce Buck for saving Chelsea.

A long rendition of "Nigel Adkins red and white army" often pushed the players on. Do it tomorrow and it might help not hinder as seems to be the fear of some on here.

Was 442 formation the start of adkins downfall in the prem
Chez replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
why? We often play 4-4-2. I didn't see a 4-2-3-1 at Stoke. Lambert and Rpodriguez played up front. Lambert didn't play in midfield, deep in the hole or anything ither than up front. We had two central midfielders and Guly and Puncheon played left and right midfield. How is is that not a 4-4-2? I don't think that was the reason he got sacked. -
we ought to ask Henry Winter when Cortese became the rich owner of SFC? He's certainly getting richer every year he runs the football business.
-
Massive club in dire need of someone like Adkins to take them back to the top flight. Colin is on borrowed time after the Barnsley game.
-
our friend Neil can at long last see the writing is on the wall and wants to make sure he is not percieved as someone that had had their head in the sand and taken by surprise when the day finally comes.
-
if we play him down the middle in the hole then we will see the best of him (as we did against Villa) but stick on the left he'll continue to dissapoint IMO,
-
I feel a Dalek repsonse coming on. I agree though. Hardly any teams recover if they have big earners in toe. If we go down Cortese's decision will be heavily scrutinised. I've always thought it would be tight, but there were genuine signs that we had turned a corner and got the belief needed to stay up. I'm much more nervous now.
-
so not big or fast. They'd be the first two requirements on my list of attributes for a top centre back. LIke the sound of him being top class though
-
decent question, although perhaps which manager had the final say might be more appropriate seeing as our scouts may have done the identifying. The fact we were linked with Countinho a week ago suggests MP has been consulted for at least a week or two. I guess it depends how long the Forren deal has been in the pipeline. I can't imagine we'd sign him on the same day as appointing MP without MP being consulted, but the manager is only one, all be it strong voice in a committee these days.
-
Him? You do realise that Cortese is not the owner of Southampton Football Business don't you? The Liebherr family own the club.
-
no it isn't a fact, it's your opinion. We've just been promoted. It's a bloody massive jump. He and his team seem to be coping fine. We've only been stuffed three times all season. We're near the bottom, but if league position determines whether a manager is struggling to cope with the Prem then is Paul Lambert struggling to get to grips with the prem? What about Pardew, Hughes, Martinez, O'Neil, Bagpuss? What about Benitez?
-
This whole Chelsea negative atmosphere at home thing is being blown out of all proportion. A couple of results go the wrong way and its all down to some clapping after 16 minutes? Do me a favour. Chelsea battered QPR and just didn't score. The atmosphere had absolutely nothing to do with that result. Our come back was down to us playing well, not because Chelsea fans weren't singing songs about Benitez. Play well and the crowd will be fully behind the side, play badly and there are always groans. A few songs backing Adkins aren't going to stop the side playing well, neither would some anti Cortese songs.
-
If Nigel's name is not sung at the start of the game it would be poor form, but I don't want to hear it sung throughout, especially should we fall behind.
-
the £12m-£14m input from tickets comes in quite handy though. Who knows, one day we'll pay so much for match tickets we won't need to take BVI loans out.
-
Mr Markus Liebherr saved us, not Cortese. Did Bruce Buck save Chelsea?
