if we are bottom 3 do we really we want to be signing any £100,000 a week player unless its on loan?
-
happy it was us that brought them through, happy we benefited from the transfer fees, happy when they score against the skates, but once they have left us I could not give a **** about them. Oh and give it a couple of years and most of the country forgets who really did the development work and you hear **** like Bagpuss/Wenger turned Bale/OX from a lower league player to an international star. did they ****.

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed? (Part 2)
Chez replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
sorry, I didn't realise. Just Alpine then. Personally I don't want to see us sack Adkins, run aimlessly with the reserve team manager for several weeks before turning to bagpuss in desperation (subsequently totally emulate the mistakes of the last prem relegation season). -
as they were given membership (they are playing every week so I assume they have) why then have the points not been taken off? Do they come off once they have been bought?

What about Keown or Winterburn? No I've got it, it must be time for Donkey. -

Alpine and Dalek -
Chaplow can't play in the middle. Touch and passing not good enough.

none of them. I didn't go last night, but in all the other games I have not seen any failing to put the effort in.

Looking at our performance in isolation...
Chez replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
don't agree with that at all. He was fine. Poor decision. Funnily enough I thought Adkins got subs spot on nearly all the time, often changing games for the better. Got it badly wrong that day. -

By contrast, I'm happy with the formation because I think 4-4-2 has shown all of our weaknesses, saw first hand the reason why he didn't pick Lambert at West Ham, but like you, simply have not understood many of the substitutions - Puncheon against Manure especially. -

do you actually find out the limitations of players when chucked in with 10 other players? The quality level was downtowards championship level, but you also are less organised as you've not played as a group before. How much do you really find out? Here's an example. Chaplow (OK so he's not first team material in many eyes but bear with me) game relies on through balls from quality players picking out his runs. He does the running, but he needs talent to make his running worthwhile. Last night he not only didn't have the quality players around him to pick him out, but he also had to play the role of `quality player' making the passes, which is not his game at all. -
I am a big believer in trying everything to win the cup competitions, even the league cup, even in this day and age. It was unfortunate that the game came just two days after the league game though, so once I am a little more forgiving of the manager for not fielding the first team. Sadly fielding a completely new eleven, consisting of youngsters and second choice seniors not only means you are weaker in terms of individual quality, but this is compounded by the fact these players have not played together so have little understanding, weaker as a side therefore. I'm amazed any side beats another having made so many changes. The reserves are going to have to be of a very high quality to have a chance.

Finding out that their second string are only good enough to play Gosport has improved my day.

Sit tight we'll turn this round and win tonight.

West Ham.

the journeyman player must be allowed to play for as many clubs as he likes and not be restricted by a club not releasing his registration. It is rediculous that a player signing for the skates can be released by them after a month but he then can't get work till January if Pompey don't release his registration. They could offer £5000 for the first month then when it comes to renewing they offer £500 for the second. The player is going to want to find employment elsewhere but can't. Not on. Players must be able to earn. The EU will step in here if any player goes to court.
-
who are you trying kid? I've not seen hatred for a player like there is for Guly. I might be wrong, but I'm not sure even Steve baker got as much stick, and he certainly got it in the neck until he left the club.

did someone suggest we should write games off? Mental. Every team is beatable in this league if you get your game spot on.
-
especially as he had a very good game at West Ham IMO. No doubt the boos were because he was selected to play left midfield whilst the `god-like' Lambert was left on the bench. How dare he. The 4-1 defeat was clearly his fault. In contrast the man that made that decision had his name sung by the masses. Go figure.

Obviously men are passed on, but if Walker goes forward, Lallana is exactly the person that should be following him. If that means running back from the half way line, so be it. Lallana did chase back, unfortunately his starting position wasn't great at times, and he doesn't have the pace to recover, especially against someone as quick a Walker. Lallana did leave us exposed, but not easy against the pace they have. Fox should never be left 2 on 1 - he struggles 1 on 1 - but it happens a lot.
