Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan

His signature on the contract means he must. But in his heart he's left, so you are right. -

perhaps there was no interest in Guly or SDR, or interest that met our demands. Besides both are midfielders and Sharp is a striker -
Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan

of course he didn't. He finally get a shot at the Prem, but quite rightly IMO, Adkins showed no sentiment and upgraded to much needed pace and tricks. Not sure why everyone is "so gutted". I'd of been more gutted if we hadn't signed a striker with pace to replace him. Respect to Adkins, he hasn't held back and clearly knows exactly what needed improving. -
yeah but they did it early and that's all that matters apparently.

Personally I'm quite pleased. I thought we might be stuck paying his wages whilst he was 5th or 6th choice. We need to lose a few to make room. Our wage bill must be getting out of hand. I've never really rated him myself and didn't think he was good enough for the Prem. No pace, average touch, crap in the air, doesn't hold it up well, no trick, average movement and I'm not even sure he is the best finisher in the world. All just IMO of course. Has to be one of the least surprising moves in football history seeing as NFFC had is player profile page up and ready months ago. -
Forest supporting brother in law's tweet ten minutes ago: "The transfer window can shut when it likes now as we have got rid of McGoaldrought YES" They luv im up there.
-
he paid for Sir Ricky and maybe even two promotions. Legend. Actually David Pleat is the legend for failing to see Surman and Lallana in that side and advising Forest to waste a cool £1.25m of their dosh on him. Is the curb crawler forgiven I ask myself?
-
would imagine he contributed greatly to the great team ethic and spirit that helped us to double promotions. Hope this can be retained when the likes of Dean depart today and later in the coming weeks on loan. I have to say he is a far better player than people give him credit. I was concerned his lack of pace would have him found out in the Championship, but he had a great season and he replaced Cork and Morgan seamlessly when called on.

Villa are going down. Anyone see their first team line up last weekend? They have nothing and if they are signing the likes of Dale they are doomed. He was woeful for us. he must have improved exponentially to attract Prem interest. Who is the Villa scout, his his Dad?

Any chance that Chaplow might move to Brighton?

Totally calm. What will be will be. This kind of transfer scenario really reveals how many cry babies we have on this board.

Have we given up on fonte and hoos on this forum
Chez replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
I have faith in both. Fonte didn't look out of his depth last season IMO, he had a below par spell, which coincided with a broken toe, but overall did well. At times he was outstanding. He has done OK this season for me despite the error on Saturday. I didn't see many baying for Jos' blood when he clumsily fouled tevez. Fans on here seem to make their minds up about players and no matter what they do on a weekly basis that overiding opinion shapes their assessment. The guy dived in a lot 2 season ago and it worked well in league 1 as he dominated, he dived in less in the championship having been caught a couple of times he learned his lesson. If he doesn't dive in at all this season he'll be fine. I'm not sure what fans are expected of this new guy but if we concede any goals ever then basically he's ****ed. -
The 'getting a bit desparate' Centre Back thread.

Can I ask why? -
new reserve keeper in Gazza, you want a first choice replacement got a new RB in Clyne, promised two new CBs, we have obviously been looking for a left back having almost signed Buttner got a new centre midfield in Davis, right winger bid for Ramirez, left winger bid for Philips bought two strikers looks like a new first team to me.
-
Forest were the suggested candidates a few weeks back. Is that player profile page on the NFFC website still there in waiting?

I get mugged off enough for the ticket prices without falling for the £40 for a piece of old tat trick. Every year my family ask if I want one for my birthday and I decline. I have no interest in being a walking advertising hoarding nor do I understand why grown men feel the need to wear them to games or worse around town. I know who I support and the fact I'm in the stadium home and away is enough evidence of who I support. I don't need a shirt to make me feel like I am a great supporter. It also makes me laugh when fans moan about not having the funds to go to a game, but have bought a shirt. For me going to games and getting that buzz from scoring goals and winning games is what its about. Shirts are for the kids. Each to their own I suppose. This year's design is boring, unappealing in every way, cheap looking, IMO has a Sunday league styling and rounded off with a cheap and nasty sponsor logo stuck on with the pin stripes showing through. I am not even bothered that it not striped, it is just a very average shirt topped of with red shirts and red socks that just adds to the overall lameness.

If Sharp left then we'd be no different. Is he leaving?
-
no ****, but the fans seem to have totally forgotten the excellent performances of many of the players from last season, especially those that made (or should have made) the FA Championship team of the year. I know there is no room for sentiment in football, but players have been written off before they've even had a fair shot at the league. Two games in and Fonte and Davis are on the scrap heap apparently. Wonder if those quick to chuck them there were laughing at QPR signing a totally new squad last season?
-
I don't buy replica kits, especially this terrible version, but the stick-on AAP sponsor logo is terrible. It makes the shirt look even cheaper than it is, if that's possible.
-
Kelvin is fine and there is no reason why Gazza won't shine at this level if called upon. That's almost every player from last season deemed not good enough. How on earth did we get promoted?

Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed
Chez replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
and er, Cork as well, but it's not the lack of depth that seems to concern people its more about the abilities of Fonte and Jos, who I think will do OK. -

At last we have signed Henri Camera's replacement. I love these skilful, fast slightly unknown quantities from Africa. He looks exciting on the ball and if he score's we get to see some gymnastics as well. With a bit of luck that will see us sell Sharp to Forest. Not sure why there is so much clamour for a CB. It was up front and out wide where we looked poor on Saturday. -
come on, that was bloody yonks ago now.
-
At Luton he looked very much a Premiership player, even an England player if you ask me, but he hasn't reached those heights since (although a £8m transfer to Villa suggests his time at WBA wasn't completely unimpressive) and I wonder if he ever will. I've always rated him, but I wouldn't want us offering silly money to get him here, which I think we will have to do wage wise. Is he much better than the now lamented Fonte? As for Brum's financial plight, they aren't flush, and Zigic's £50k a week wage is draining, but I think Carston Young has a minority share so his potential downfall won't neccessarily take them under. Actually the sooner he passes go and goes straight to where he belongs, Brum plight might improve. They'll stop using the club as a front for dodgy land deals and maybe focus on the football.
-
Mate of mine spoke with Curtis during the summer and at that point he had no strong desire to leave brum - mind you he's not going to tell an ardent Birmingham supporter any different. He's currently on about £30k a week and it will take a sizeable wage rise to get him to move. Brum will also demand well over £5m so I am told.
