  1. not to mention the fact there is no transfer fee. Even if it was a £500,000 fee that would equate to £3k a week for three years.

Similar scenario happened at Wolves three sesons ago when they signed Matthew Jarvis from Gillingham when his contract expired (they agreed a fee rather going to tribunal). He didn't go straight into their side but was quite clearly an emerging talent (shame we didn't buy him when we had the chance). Look at him now. If the quality is there snap it up. I agree don't buy squad players, but do buy emerging talent.
  3. he could fill in for Samuel L. Jackson in the film Unbreakable, but beyond that...
  4. I think he is there best midfielder an suggested him last summer. I saw him at the Valley against us a couple of seasons ago and he was superb in the holding midfield role. Excelent first touch, nothing flashy, but importantly he covered the ground, got stuck and was very strong for a young lad. Absolutely spot on about not needing to spend big: Antonio, Adomah, Dickson, Dawson and Calderon could all come for next to nothing.

Mills would be ideal for them.

Harding's going nowhere after the season he's just had surely?

you are right, but equally to say most full backs were in his pocket does him a diservice as all but one were. The question is will Dickson sign without some sort of assurance that he will play week in week out? Hope so. A top notch squad will get us the title.

Loving that, it sounds as though Dickson is mustard, although I wonder how well they know Harding. Harding would get this description from me: He's extremely strong, a bully in fact. He's excellent in the air, quick enough and runs all game, overlapping and delivering decent crosses. He's a nightmare play against. Every right winger this season, except one, has been in his pocket. Take Lambert out of the equation and he was our player of the season. At this level he is superbe. So they sound pretty similar in terms of effectiveness. Brilliant.
  9. right back really has been a prpblem over the years hasn't it? I've never been a big Dodd fan, but taking him out for the equation when's the last tiem we had a decent right back at the club?
  10. thank you for bringing the wonderful memory back to me. Not sure I've celebrated as much ever as I did when he scored the second.

I get the feeling that Pardew doesn't trust Mills in the same way he didn't trust Gillett or James. I personally like Mills, but in one or two sub appearances, Bristol Rovers especially, he came on and didn't do a job. He had a few decent games, but that rovers defeat will no doubt live in Pardews memory. I don't understand anyone that thinks signing a player better than we have is a bad move. Pardew is not going to sign a left back and totally ignore our right back requirements. What he is going to do is pick up a bloody decent left back on a tribunal fee. Brilliant move. Shoudl he want to move Mills on, there will be no shortage of takers on loan or to buy btw. Getting Molyneux off the wage bill is another matter. We could end up with Antonio, Adomah, Dawson, Dickson and Calderon all for next to nothing. Dickson is the fella that ran all the way down our left to set up their goal by the way. Also Harding will not be converted to a right back. Not a chance.
  12. me bad. 5 wins after he got there not 7. "Uncle Avram" really is "legend"
  13. great first touch, decent footballing brain, plays with his head up and gave everything in that relegation season. What a terrific asset he would be if we could get him. As for position, he's a centre midfielder in my eyes. I can't see him dropping two divisions but here's hoping.
  14. interior design is your calling Ponty.
  15. about 58 times in the last 18 months by me. Get him signed now.
  16. you'd think any prospective owner would see right through that.
  17. Lallana, Davis, Perry and Morgan all managed to overcome it, so why not Surman?
  18. before W2 D 1 L10 after W7 D6 L14
  19. in short no. The player can dig his heals in and see out the contract being paid in full. Its called doing a Bogarde.
  20. They love him because he came on the pitch and had a moan at a ref against Sunderland. He showed he had passion, which until that point the skates didn't think he had. Another key factor is that he's spent three/four months saying how great the fans are to anyone that will listen and not already bored to tears by him. Oh and he also managed the side that beat us, that usually goes down well with supporters. Personally I think the hand he had was **** and they improved under him, but they were still a terrible side so lost every week. Cov, Saints (a), Sunderland, Brum, Spurs. Is that especially easy?

  22. what's the desperation to get season ticket prices? What difference does it make. We all know the season doesn't start till August, and we all know you'll gonna neeed between £125 and £400 to buy one. Chill.
  23. what is the business model we are following, anyone know?
  24. or maybe Pardew didn't fancy watching (at close hand) him bottling tackles all season?
  25. Seabourne seems to have collected a few, shall we say, friends.
