  1. He doesn't remind me of him in any way other than they are/were both quick. Liverpool fan at my work tells me that John Henry (liverpool owner) is now in England so transfer dealing will commence. I still wonder why Alex would want to go there though.
  2. the words "Nice" and "good support" leave room for improvement.
  3. its a tad expensive, but that's the way it is with football. At some point many of us are going to face the question, do I really want to be paying £30, £40, £50 or more to watch a game of football. If getting to the Premiership means forking out £60 for a ticket then I'm in no hurry to see us go through the leagues.
  4. With no accounts available there is still nothing to suggest that the Lebeirr family are bankrolling the club in any way. The large crowds may be covering the large wages.
  5. Nice. One of these days one of the players I suggest will be bought. The closesest I've got is suggesting Puncheon when he was at Barnet.
  6. he left because he had a mare in the first 6 or 7 games, was dropped and had no prospect of playing for them. When we came here after his loan spell at MK Dons, it was a no brainer decision based on getting games and the same sort if wage.
  7. In a way I agree with you. They don't have the money to spend on top class young great potential players, but they also don't have the money to spend on big names. One things for sure they don't have money for both. What Alex chamberlain does is bridge both gaps IMO. He is fantastic potential AND a big name, allbeit only on the scene for about three weeks. All I see is Owen, Joe Cole, Rooney, Walcott, Bale and Wiltshire. Even at 17 you already know they are the nuts. Also he doesn't need moulding. Did Owen need moulding when Liverpool picked him for their first team? With this lad its not a case of `is it a gamble', its more a case of how can we get him to come to us rather than Manu, Chelsea, Arsenal, City or Spurs. Why would Chamberlain want to go to Liverpool and not those other five clubs?
  8. He was decent at Brum, but has got worse every season since. He brings experience, but do we honestly need that. The likes of Davis, Fonte, Richardson, Hammond and Lambert have all been around for yonks so we have plenty of that. If we are going to sign a centre midfielder then Jose Sameda for me. He has played in the championship and did well. Unlike Savage he is improving every year. Having fallen from grace now is the time to bring in players good players that are improving not players who's best days have gone.
  9. I suggested him on this very thread about two weeks ago. Absolutey ideal replacement for Puncheon. Top, top player. He's not injury prone, he had a terrible injury when he came back to QPR and then the medical staff made a major error in terms of their asessment of his injury and brought him back far too early. Warnock words. He is apparently fully recovered now, he just needs matches to get fully fit. I'm not sure we can give him them, but if Puncheon goes then we MUST have cover for Alex.
  10. any reason why you wouldn't want two, three or eleven potentially world class 17 year olds at your club?
  11. I'm surprised that if he wasn't committed he didn't make that perfectly clear before the Blackpool game - then he would not be cup tied making it even easier to get his move. My take on this is that Adkins sometimes says things in interviews that are not 100% perfectly thought out and presented, possibly he gets overexcited or his mouth is quicker than his brain (no offence intended as mine is the same). He just answers the question and sometimes a less than perfectly worded answer comes out - like when he said Martin was making his full league debut for the club. It might therefore not be best to take everything he says, down to the very last word, as definitive. One thing I would say is that if Hammond is fit - replacing Gobern, then who would drop from the bench? Puncheon might not be selected on Saturday just because there was no slot!
  12. have a guess where you can stick your suggestions about encouraging drums, flags and horns mate?
  13. youngsters don't form part of the 25
  14. Having watched the game on Sunday I honestly think that Alex would go straight into that Liverpool side. If Johnson is out, they have absolutely nothing down their right hand side attacking wise. Kuyt works hard enough, but has no pace or trick and supplies nothing to Torres. If Dalgleish thinks the same then they would not just be buying a prospect for £10m, which is a huge investment, they would be buying for now - making the £10m less scary. Hope I'm wrong.
  15. scrub that one then. Shame. Decent player.
  16. I notice Leicester have loaned Michael Morrison out to Sheff Wednesday. Very good young centre back that was central to their promotion two seasons ago and played well for them in the championship last season. Worth keeping an eye on.
  17. People go on and on about Connelly never being fit, but he has been fit for the last two months and only really made the bench. Tubbs strikes me as a very similar player, perhaps not even as good, not sure how he'd get a game here either. Maybe the aim would be buy Tubbs, loan Connelly out before releasing him at the end of the season. Doesn't feel likely to me though.
  18. not a chance in hell would I offer my spare ticket to a Manure supporting mate, even if he went home and away and had missed out in their ballot. I would however offer it to my Forest supporting brother in law that attends about 8 or 9 Saints games a year and loosely speaking would support us especially if he's got a few bob on Lambert to score the first goal.
  19. no reason why we should not add to the squad if we can get the right player and that should always be the case. Dickson is a fine example. Brentford fans said he was the best leftback in the league and we added him ti the squad even though we didn't strictly need a leftback. Having loaned Mills out we now are brimming with talent and next season we can take our pick. Another good example might be to buy ****tu. A typical post I've seen above is that "We don't need another defender". But look at it this way. Jaidi might not get a new contract in the summer so we might need to replace him anyway. Also Martin needs games. How about we loan Martin out for the rest of the season and buy ****tu giving us four CBs. Then when Jaidi retires at the end of the season we have the ready made replacement in Stittu all fully settled in after helping us to promotion and to add to that we have Martin back with another 15 League 1 games under his belt. Win win win. If a club with a spare million takes Puncheon off our hands it goes withut saying that we need a wide right player. No matter what anyone tells you Morgan and Guly are not suited for this role.
  20. ignoring FA rules, how would this work? ST holders buying an FA cup ticket get free entry to a league game they have already paid for?
  21. maybe now that is a fair point, but back in the days we played them in the Prem it was actually cheaper to go to Old Trafford than it was to SMS and lots of other grounds. I recall when Chelsea bumped their ticket prices up to £40 for Chelsea vs Saints it was £50 for the Man U game at Stamford Bridge. The price at old trafford at the time was £26 quid! Out of interest I wonder what Manure would charge for this game if it was at their place?
  22. to be fair we had plenty of fans posting similar when we in the top flight and drew Northampton in a cup for the second time in three years
  23. I think you'll find the Kingsland is pretty full of Saints fans most weeks so there won't be room for our manc friends.

he was superbe wasn't he? I really like this guy, he's so full of running, he kind of reminds me of Bale. Yes not at his level, but the way he is willing to give it a go and force opponents to make desperate last ditch tackles really does turn defence into attack. The one thing missing is a goal. He's come so close in recent weeks and at times it feels like he might never score! I honestly think he is going to become a real fans favourite in time.
  25. Got a mate who works for them and the workforce can pretty much come and go as they please, so unsurprising they don't have enough people to cover every FA Cup game.
