  1. Perhaps he will bring in a top notch right back and then a promising youngster to back him up if our academy hasn't got one.
  2. fair enough, the last thing I want is for us to be paying players more than they are worth. Brighton have their own millionaire to afford him so I guess he must be topping up their income somewhat to be able to afford him. We perhaps are only willing to pay out what the club can afford without top ups.
  3. Seaborne is totally left footed and a centre back. Martin is fairly sluggish centre back. I know why not just stick Jardi out there, I mean he's a defender after all.
  4. LOL at the Wikepedia believer. Might be an idea to get some real facts about this player http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=38297 before forming your opinion on him. Have you seen him play? We we in League 1! What mkes you think he's injury prone?
  5. is Gabbidon now fit? His £40k a week wages might be tricky.
  6. Every time I see him he has that touch class about him, and I saw him run rings round our defence whilst playing for Sheffield United one season. But even then he didn't score and then faded in the second half. He just seems to lack that oompf. Still a decent player though. The question is will a Championship `big man' come here and play second fiddle to Lambert as Pardew isn't going to play two target men is he?
  7. I'm dissapointed he has not signed for us, because the videos of him suggested he was a winner, but if money was the reason he didn't sign for us, then perhaps think it shows that the owner/management are not going to throw any more money at players (they did that in January and it failed to get us intot he play offs) and are going to try to run the club within its means.
  8. is there any left (Thursday morning)? I need some topsoil.
  9. I'm confused, are you more concerned about the lack of signings or when the window opens?
  10. Harding won't play at right back, apart from emergencies. He's totally left footed. He held an end up in the two games he played there, but it restricted him so much not being able to get crosses in without stopping and coming back onto his left foot. Any fool could see that.

    Ryan Dickson

tremendous news. Buy the best players available to you and then worry about fitting them all into a 11. Even at £500,000 I bet we have got a deal.
  12. Connelly, when fully match sharp (took about 5 games last season) is like a slightly better Barnard. Bloody brilliant to have both I might add. I just can't imagine Pardew allowing him to leave even after a season of yet more injuries. I have to say though that Antonio and Waigo both played up front at times so if neither come back we will need to strengthen not only out wide but also up front. Who ever it is to come in has to be top class, obviously, but will need to be able to replace Lambert or play with him (otherwise he won't fancy coming in the first place).
  13. it had to be. He looked the business. I guess it all depends on how highly AP rates Martin as we need 4 centre backs.
  14. yes a winger, extremely quick and with ability to go with it. Difficult to rate him alongside Antonio as he has proved he can do it in League 1 whilst Adomah has to make the step up. I think he can do it, mind you I am basing my opinion on only two games. However the interest in him from Blackpool and Norwich last summer shows he is highly regarded. If Connelly/Barnard, Labert and Lallana are all in the side we have to have pace as an option off the bench. I hope its not a choice between Anotnio and Adomah as Antonio was the best player to watch for years and years and I like to see more.
  15. what's you point? Mine point is that our links to these three shows we have made moves in the market shows the type of player we are after in terms of quality shows we are not after unattainable players - all three out of contract
  16. Dickson, Calderon, Adomah...what level are these guys then? There are hundreds of players out there, lets get the right ones shall we not just anyone to appease impatient fans like yourself. Under Burley we panicked into Thomas and had three years of injuried and ****. With Pardew we were patient enough to wait till Jardi's work permit came through and he was like a breath of fresh air. A centre back that can win headers! Patience. We want to win the league this season. That means we must bring in the the very best players not just anyone.
  17. by us? Happy with that. Very good prospect. Pacey. Waigo's replacement perhaps.
  18. Agreed. Looked very good in both games (admittedly the first one he had to go off early with a head injury). Has he turned down a contract? I can't believe they'd release him.
  19. happy to get next to no information from the club, perhaps inform the fans of impending payment plans ending in plenty of time instead of telling us about the relaying of the pitch.
  20. which is exactly what we are trying to do with Calderon and Dickson. I imagine several other enquiries have been made, maybe offers and opening negotiations as well, but we won't hear about them until they are done. We only heard about Calderon and Dickson because their old clubs had nothing to lose by speaking to the press.
  21. You are being impatient. Also Dickson and Calderon are not snippets, they are as good as you are going to get transfer targets. Both players are top class by the way at this level. I also see this information as the tip of the iceberg in terms of efforts and enquiries made. We wouldn't have heard about either transfer of the `losing' club has not revealed it. There will be other transfers, perhaps involving negotiations on price that won't ever come to light. Pardew has no excuses this season. He and everyone else knows this. His job is on the line, so you can rest assured he is working his socks off to get the right players in. If he is away on holiday at present then fine, we all deserve one, but he will back on it as soon as he returns. The right players will be brought in...
  22. I was wondering the same thing. Surely a CVA agreement can not be based on selling assets for £30m when the whole world knows those assets are overstated and there is not the market demand anyway.
  23. potential Dickson and Calderon transfers right out in the open, and now a strong link to Bailey, what more you want by June 6th? Pardew has no excuses this season, so you know he will be working like his job depended on it to bring the right players in.
  24. only if those 5% go to 14 games
