you type a post so others read it, therefore isn't every post a bit of a look at me post in some way? -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Chez replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I'm talking about the season as a whole. After the great start (he was our best player over the first 5 or 6 games) he has been largely ignored, even when fully fit. He was first choice under Pardew and played week in week out. -
Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result

did they ****. They may have had two units at centre half, but they played a passing game with Kilkenny, Howson and Johnson strong in the midfield, Snodgrass causing havoc out wide and two strikers that scored continuously. Note that Norwich and Forest both adopted a passing game to get out of this league, allbeit with some longer stuff to Holt (not too dissimilar to what we play with Lambert) and they play exactly the same game in the CCC. It's not the `ploughed' fields that are the problem as we showed at D&R, its the qualities of our side and the opposition. -
this can't be true can it? The guy looked the absolute nuts against us.

no arguement from me. We were at our best last season when we started games with 5 in midfield, tiring the opposition out then reverting to a 4-4-2 when bringing on Connelly and Antonio. Butterfield has played well in recent weeks so perhaps Adkins wanted to reward him with some loyalty, but I never understood why Richardson and Dickson fell out of favour so quickly not even after a poor game. You can add Barnard to that list. We are hardly firing yet he is nowhere near the first 11. Strange. -
always thought he was utter **** and was amazed he got as move to Sunderland for millions. Reminds me a bit of poor man Higgingbottom. Not quick enough at fullback or strong enough at centre half. Scout wants shooting.

its a long long road

Question for the Positive-Thinkers after the Walsall result
Chez replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I don't agree with your assessment of the Exeter and Swindon games (and therefore the 35 minutes thing), but apart from that its hard to argue with this post. Now your solution please? -
Interesting that Inter Milan still refuse to pay what they owe for Suli Muntari until the situation with Udinese is settled in court. And that Genoa seem to be drip feeding the KP Boateng transfer money slower than they agreed to for no reason whatsoever. I see paying up the contacts of Éric Gauthier Mahoto, Gael Nlundulu, Danijel Subotic, James Hurst, Jordan Hughes and Papa Bouba Diop cost them £330,000. Mind you they'll get that back if QPR go up with £400,000 extra due for the Tommy Smith transfer.

Blimey, a couple or poor results and average performances from Guly and he's dropped off the face of the earth in terms of fan opinion. I seem to recall almost everyone being happy with his signing in the window, oh and half the board came out with "if we just keep Lallana and Alex it will be a brilliant window". We appear to be somewhat greedier now. Looking at N'Guessen, he's started twice and come on as sub twice, and Forte his two sub appearances. Forgive me if I don't write them off just yet, although I have to agree I'd like us to have signed players that were actually better than Barnard and er Lallana/Chamberlain (how the hell do you better those two in league 1?). Mind you Lee Cook might have been a better option and if we hadn't been priced out of the equation Makail-Smith might have been the ticket. If fans knew where we stand finance wise (are we breaking even for example) then perhaps our player signing expectations might be lowered a little.

could someone have missed out on an SWF end of season award and is making damn sure he gets one this time round? Cheers chaps, forum is as fab as ever in my eyes

Pardew's decision to give Connelly a new contract, Lambert's woeful form in the first part of the season, if Guly was signed as a striker (I doubt he was) then whoever signed him, Lallana's injury, Adkins totally ignoring Barnard for most of the season, and the failure to sign a top class striker in the window have all played a major part. Proportion that blame...

if we fail to go up I certainly will be pointing the finger at both parties, but there will be months for us to argue over this should it happen. For those unhappy with the current situation, how about some solutions? I'd be more than happy to read a post complaining about the current situation before suggesting an alternative route - perhaps sacking the manager/chairman/coach or playing a different set of players. Perhaps people can tell me why we lost on Tuesday and what we should have done to prevent that loss. If it just down to Adkins then should he be sacked now, and who should be brought in. Just posting `I told you so', `it was down to Pardew's preseason', `its not good enough' or `you are all happy clappy' time after time doesn't enlighten anyone. -

There is a lot of chat on this thread about form and length of time to judge teams, and with that in mind can I point you to Walsall's recent home form, which has been pretty good with one defeat in 5 before they played us. Oldham D Bristol Rovers W Bournemouth L Dagenham & R W Rochdale D Southampton W So although very disappointing, it's not like their win has come from absolutely nowhere. I do think we have going backwards since last season though and if we don't get promoted it will be a failure. The reasons for this will be numerous and but lets see if we can get our season back on track on Saturday shall we. -
our best players might go, and that's a major concern for me, but Adkins or whoever is in charge just need to buy the right players with that money and as you say we can go up next season.

I miss the buzz of a packed house and beating a big boy like manure, but I actually think this ever increasing period out of the top flight is exactly what I needed as I know I will appreciate being there a hell of a lot more when we return than I did when we were there previously - well for a season at least!
-
talk me through the Chaplow, Shea, N'Guessen and Forte signings. I've been away fro three weeks so not seen the last two for Saints.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - injured but on the bench?
Chez replied to Born In The 80s's topic in The Saints
if he was properly injured he wouldn't have come on. -
we didn't create all 20 chances before Morgan went off, so some of the chances came as a result of the hoof ball after he was injured.
-
Excellent post especially when identifying that Adkins picked the side the fans wanted and the restrictions on transfers. I'm not sure 10th place is even a remote possibility.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. The Olympic pool is in Stratford. This pool is used for training which doesn't need timing boards, hence it is exactly the right length. Sounds like one political party is using this non story to attack another.
