  1. Anyone remember the glorious start to the 1998/99 season? No? Well we lost the first five and didn't win any in the first 12. Guess when we did our transfers that summer. that's right early. David Howells came in on 14th June, Stuart Ripley 6th July, Mark Paul, 9th July, James Beattie 10th July, Mark Hughes 11th July and Skate Hiley on the 21st August. Getting players in early to forge a settled squad really helped that season didn't it. Cgheck out Norwichs signing pattern last season. Lambert signed players and brought in players on loan throughout the whole season. didn't do them any harm. Is that play off spot still hanging by a thread?
  2. Norwich/Ispwich and Cardiff/Swansea seemed to get live TV coverage last season between BBC and SKY, so our own derby is bound to be televised if one or both is doing well.
  3. Hull away on a Tuesday night sucks.
  4. yes. You get about 8 games free so well worth buying a season ticket.
  5. can we send them down with 4 games to play?
  6. Southampton isn't exactly the world's most beautiful city.
  7. he wouldn't have gone there if they did. Hull will take £20k a week. Sounds a lot of wedge, but he is top notch. If we should lose Chamberlain he would be worth a shout.
  8. if you order one online do you have to pay a booking fee?
  9. why not just go the whole way and charge £1200 and tell the other 66% to **** off.
  10. you mean `don't go', not, `don't pay more'.
  11. kinell no. That **** in oversized shirts nearly moaned us all to death last season, I don't think I could cope with him moaning every two and half minutes about how lucky we are and how hard done by they are.
  12. and we should all be very thankful for David Pleat. His recommendation paid for Lambert.
  13. Complaining about pricing appears to be frowned upon on here. Or perhaps more accurately its a case of everyone just accepting their lot and realising complaining does little anyway. Personally I amazed that a 40% rise comes our way and almost no one says a dickybird. But it's the "price of success" don't you know?
  14. sounds a plan.
  15. Forest aim to cut their wage bill this summer with reduced terms offered to the likes of Ernie. Whether funds will be there for expensive loans like Boyd and Konchesky is less clear. I would have thought they would still be strong next season. Kelvin Wilson has finally left (after faking an injury so as not to have his move to Celtic ruined by an injury), but they didn't really miss him last season anyway. Adebola will be let go and Garner allowed to leave - freeing up more wages. They will do well to hold on to Camp, Moussi and McGugan though.
  16. strange decision to turn down the Ipswich offer if he didn't have one from a club elsewhere.
  17. why do have to chose between those? How about Cortorse or John Ryan? To be honest I care more about who the owners are.
  18. you've got me there, but if you are going to have a luxury player in your side he had better be genuinely luxurious.
  19. only taking more money out of the club.
  20. what had me in stitches was you child-like suggestion that just because I don't like a lazy striker I must want a headless chicken instead. Having the ability to find space, be in the right position, and the class to tuck chances away doesn't mean you can't work hard for the side. In fact both aspects are expected. By the way I liked Rasiak, unlike John he actually worked, sadly he was so slow it made it look like he wasn't trying, hence some didn't like him. John was just bone idle.
  21. I know it's alien to you, but there are other opinions than yours. He was lazy, extremely lazy, he sprinted once in all the time he was at our place and the funny thing was he was actually was pacey - he just couldn't be arsed. IMO if we'd had a striker willing to put some effort in we would have scored as many goals team wise, but more importantly conceded far less. Defending from the front, and chasing down lost causes helps the side, turns teams around and takes the pressure off defences. He didn't help one iota with any of that. Obviously there were other factors for us struggling. not least some of the crapest centre backs ever seen at Saints, but despite his goal haul I do think he should share the blame.
  22. knows where the net is, buynplease not another lazy striker who stands around waiting for chances to fall for him on a plate. Stern John was bad enough...
  23. not sure what the back story is on this post, but this is a wind up right?
  24. Mark Wotherspoon Jr? Don't ask.
  25. makes sense. Slight shame we didn't get to see a little more of him and played in the middle where he is more suited. He could of done with a full season out on loan last year. I still think he has similar attributes to Carlton Palmer, but I just didn't see a player that I could trust to run a midfield. At least not yet anyway.
