Assured is the one word I would not use for his display on Tuesday. Nervy would be more fitting in my book. I don't agree on the 90% figure at all. 50% maybe. Fonte won most stuff in the air. I know it is an isolated incident but check out the highlights at 38 seconds and you'll find a centre back just standing and watching as a high ball loops in the box and an attacker heads on goal. Very very poor centre back play. Let me assure you that Jaidi would never allow that to happen. At 1.00 he gets caught in possession badly that thankfully went unpunished. There was a fair bit of dilly dallying, but I admit that the crowd didn't help him or the lack of movement from the two centre backs. Don't think that I am trying to make him out to be some woeful player, I am honestly not, but to say he was assured in that specific game does not strike a chord with me at all.
  2. Very good shout indeed. Why did no one suggest we buy hi in the summer;) IF we get promoted he would be a very good candidate for a season long loan should WBA stay up and not fancy him in the Prem yet. In fact maybe they will have had second thoughts full stop and we could make them an offer.
  3. I'd of thought Brighton's Greer might have a chance at centre back and the lad Bennett in midfield as well. Harley at Exeter might be in with a shout too. Green has had a good season at D&R and stands out in a poor side. Davis is another like that and was playing well at Notts County before being snapped up by Derby. I wonder if BWP might get a look in with all those tap ins? George Boyd has started to turn it on at Peterborough as well recently. On Lallana, he has missed quite a lot of games and players will inevitably vote for players that have done well against them.

I wasn't impressed by Martin at all on Tuesday and I have to say in several games now I have come away wondering why everyone raves about him on here. It wasn't just the uncertainty in possession or distribution (which was worse than Jaidi) it was his lack of physical presence. Yeovil's striker wasn't a big lad yet Martin struggled to beat him in the air at times. I'm of the opinion that if you're not quick then as a centre back you need to be a unit. In his defence he's in and out of the side and that must be extremely tough. I'd also add that he is young and with games he will only improve as all centre backs do. The question is will he ever get a run of games? I hope not as that means that our first choice is injured. Do people genuinely think he will be a Premiership centre back? Hmmmm. I wonder if Jardi will get another deal promotion or not?
  5. I'd also like a ticket if anyone has one. PM me. Enjoy the game chaps.
  6. he did nothing last night, he didn't win any headers, didn't get in box and didn't threaten at all. Virgo (was it?) had the easiest night of his life and unlike the last few games Lambert was climbed all over either. A lot of poor service but both strikers offered minimal threat IMO if that is possible with one of them scoring twice. I must point out though that for a brief period near the end Lambert was actually moved into the hole with Forte and Barnard playing up top.

you didn't sit in he Kingsland then last season cos there was plenty of grumbles clearly audible by the player.
  8. Kelvin has another year
  9. Harding's is up as is Jaidi, Pulis and Gobern Mills has another year as does Morgan Forecast has another two years on his.
  10. did it last year and the weather was fantastic - no wind at all on the run in as well. I have to say 10 miles is er, bloody miles but the support you get from the Southsea crowd really helps see you through to the line. A dodgy knee might prevent me repeating the run this year but best of luck georgeweahcousin and to everyone else. By the time you get to do the run I think you need to be doing at least 6 miles and then the crowd will take you the rest of the way. Enjoy it, it's a brilliant day, don't forget to smile as you get close to the finishing line because they film you and photograph you. Actually if you want a good shot I'd try to find a bit of space on the run in.

7 goals in nine starts (plus one sub appearance) for Millwall and Blackpool, none in 19 for us.
  12. until you work out what you are doing, I'd follow a simple rule of: if no one else is bidding for it you know it's ****e. Genuine brand new designer gear is rare, its almost always fake. Second hand and you have more chance of it being real. I'd also add that you should never buy unless there are plenty of really good photos. Blurred photos tends to equal bobbled, overwashed load of ****e.
  13. If we are winning and not conceding goals Adkins won't change the side - and he hasn't. The fact we are not taking teams apart suggests that some tinkering might still be required if we are to get on an unstoppable run that sees us to automatic promotion. Can't see him changing it now though.
  14. For me Richardson has hardly put a foot wrong and should be first choice. His extra height and pace give me more confidence. He has looked assured in defence and has got forward well. I don't agree with peoples comments about him never finding a Saint with his passing. He's had a game or two when his passing could have been better, but I've seen Butterfield have a game or two when his passing could not have been worse. That said Butterfield has been very good in his current run in the side (almost faultless if I'm honest) so it would be harsh to drop him.
  15. er, but it is within our control to average more points per games than those two though. Come the end of the season and we come third there is no use saying it was beyond our control that the other two got more points than us. We are not playing well as a side. The quality of individuals is getting us wins. If we can click as a side then they'd be no stopping us. Adkins must find that elusive blend, style...that enables the side to play freely.
  16. when she chastised you, were chatting about the previous evenings soaps/price of fuel/Peter Andre etc? I ****ing hate going to a game only to be surrounded by people chatting about this kind of stuff. That's what half time and the pub before and after the game is for.
  17. Spot on. So many fans judge players based on past displays instead of just marking them on what they did in the 90 minutes. Jaidi makes one poor pass (and its usually such a poor pass the whole world sees it) and all headers won and interceptions made (his job) are forgotten. Davis distribution is actually often first class, but again one poor kick or slice and its judged to be poor. I don't think some realise that there has been a change to the rules and you can't pick backpasses up. The older fans are the worst as they seem to compare the kicking of today's keepers with that of keepers before the rule change. Christ, imagine Ian Andrews playing now...
  18. I hear the term consistency bandied about a lot on this forum and it intrigues me as to what fans actually think they are calling for. Is it consistent performances or consistent results? I would argue that most are calling for consistent results (ie win every week with a few draws away from home and the odd defeat against Brighton away) when in fact all the players (and hopefully the side as a whole) can offer is a consistent level of performance. Play to their maximum level every week and because of the quality of player we have we win every week don't we? You'd hope so. Performance therefore does matter. Players needs to be playing well because the difference in quality is not as huge as people think. But most players are doing OK. Its hard to point the finger at individuals and say they have been **** for weeks. The simple fact is we are not playing great as a side - which is why from time to time that skill gap is overcome by our opponent and we don't get the result we want. Its not about players not trying, not being motivated, just turning up for their pay packets, I don't see any of that, its more about the side as a whole not working as a finely oiled machine. The reason for that is always extremely hard to work out. Perhaps the balance is not quite right (no pacey striker), Lambert never getting in the box, too many passes from defence and midfield straight up the middle (where it doesn't stick enough) rather than supplying our two wingers all day long. Maybe a lack of confidence from one or two. Maybe the constant changes to centre backs, or the defence as a whole unsettles the side and brings in players unsure of others around them, maybe its just not having a clear striker partnership and possibly and IMO most importantly the two central midfielders not knowing exactly what their roles and positions are. Like I said its hard to pinpoint. I'm not even sure managers know - more often than not they stumble across it. But to improve our consistency of results it is imperative that the `team' clicks fully (becomes a well oiled machine -sorry for using that term again) otherwise we will continue to be like Man City where we rely on moments of brilliance from our A grade players to win games rather than the force and momentum the side has because it is playing well ( If those moments don't come you then don't win). Get the side playing well as a team and without doubt we'll see us charge for promotion. Don't and we stumble to the play offs. It's all yours Adkins.
  19. got to get over the non signing of CMS. For all we know Peterborough wanted £3m plus for him and who knows what our budget is.
  20. Go up and you get £30m minimum TV money for that first season, not to mention another £48m of parachute payments should you go down the following season. So even if they have spent a large chunk of the parachute payments they will still be a lot better off. Yes a lot of players are out of contract, but that is a blessing in many ways as it gets high earners like Hughes off the payroll and they can sign better players on less wages. OK so having only 8 contracted players is a problem, but the likes of Nugent will sign a new deal without question should they be promoted so that squad will quickly bulk out. Promotion will be a godsend to them.
  21. we're like the Man City of the third tier. Enough quality players to win our fair share of games, but without that momentum mos teams have that are near the top of league tables.
  22. He really has. As for the Butterfield remark, I've seen posts on here suggesting we should cash in in Chamberlain - which I strongly disagree with, and I've also seen posts suggesting Butterfield could do a job there. I don't want to think about losing Chamberlain and then have to rely on a player like Butterfield to fill that right midfield position. It's not a step back its a giant leap backwards.
  23. kinell did Tuesday's defeat hurt you. I think the whole forum now understands exactly where you stand and how you feel. I mean you've posted this same thing about 35 times since Tuesday night. You thought we were good enough, now you don't and you are not happy about that. Don't worry if we don't go up we will all remember that you said that would be the case on March 1st. I'm niot sure why you bother though cos you new posting partner said as much months before.
  24. I thought you also liked to see the odd transfer in every window?
  25. that's what I'm waiting for. Defeat today and then the odds will be taken just before we embark on a ten game winning run. Time for bed me thinks,
