Very good point. The other thing is if you sign a guy on £30k a week it is very difficult to offload him should it not work out - as the skates are finding.
-
I don't agree with that. He was a top player for Preston in the Championship scoring 34 league goals in 86 starts and worthy of his move to the Premiership. Once at the skates he had a shocker in a preseason game and ****flaps decided there and then that he had made a mistake signing him. ****flaps never played him leading to a massive loss of confidence. He hardly got a game in two years and when he finally got in the side it was playing out wide. The Premiership was perhaps just a little too early for him, but now having refound his form and confidence he is showing at Championship level that he is pretty decent. I'd take him like a shot. He won't come here so it matters not.

not his best bit of play since he joined us, but the pass to him was the problem. He didn't want it given to him there. Poor decision by Seaborne or was it Fonte? IMO he has looked excellent in pretty much all the games he has played. He has a great engine and great heart. More than quick and strong enough, he is a very good defender. Going forward he looks very comfortable on the ball and he delivers fantastic crosses. Up until the Manure game he was playing very well and he'd of been my first choice, but Harding has come back well since the P'boro game. Excellent competition. Excellent signing if you ask me.
-
few would have played against Fonte seeing as he joined in January and the voting is done well before the end of the season. I notice on Soccerbase it says the fee for Fonte was £800,000. I know £1.2m was always bandied about, but if £800,000 was the true price, boy was that a steal.
-
maybe not but he is available on a free rather than the £6m he came for, so that usually adds a few bob to your next wage deal. I'm not saying he's a £6m player now, but over three years that was effectively £40k a week on top of his £30k a week wages. You could take him on £30k a week for three years or spend £3m on a striker and then pay them £10k a week (what £3m striker will accept £10k a week I might add).

Can't see Nugent joining us. He wants another Premiership size wage, so that counts us out. Should he lower his demands then that will bring the skates back into play.
-
Decent player IMO, but then again Harding ain't bad either. We are spoilt for riches at left back.
-
He's faster, stronger, fitter, better on the ball and stronger in the tackle. In my eyes he's a similar player to Alex Song at Arsenal. At 21 he also didn't score or set up goals but was continually selected by Wenger, who knows a thing or two. Two years on and he's finally added a few goals and assists to his strong passing game. I expect Morgan to do the same. Once again, Morgan is 21 and it is imperative that we get him signed to a long term contract as he is a tremendous talent.

if we are breaking even then there is absolutely no reason for selling up. Personally I'm more worried about losing Lallana and others should we not get promoted as aposed to the owners selling up.
-
looks highly likely to me.
-
hindsight is a wonderful thing. As I recall you predicted a 2-1 loss unless Morgan started. Shows what you know.

that's how I saw it. Swindon had a ten minute spell before and five after their goal, but they created next to nothing in the whole game because defensively we were strong. We sat back after our goal which invited them on to us, but perhaps the experience at London Road has made them a little less gung ho? The idea that we were poor for 70 minutes as Turkish suggests is rubbish. We were great for the first 20 minutes and the last half hour. Remove 15 minutes of pressure from them and that leaves by my maths 25 minutes when we were merely OK.
-
how about if the bet was Pompey to go up or Saints to go up?
-
they wouldn't have added Cotterill to their wage bill if they couldn't pay it this month, would they?
-
you are probably right, but then again you think any criticism about SFC is harsh.
-
thought Swindon were no better or worse than any other away crowds at our place. The,y like every other away support, simply do not hear the Northam end to its full effect because they are next to rather than situated perpendicular or opposite it.
-
Actually I thought he was crap yesterday, so that might explain it, should it be remotely true of course.

Davis 7 came and caught well today. Distribution good. Beaten near post, but poor defending in front of him Butterfield 8 hardly out a foot wrong. Very composed on the ball. Jaidi 9 one misplaced pass all game, everything else spot on Fonte 8 strong as usual Harding 7 decent game, especially in the first half, but gave Richie far too much room for his goal Lallana 8 Usual top stuff and showed exactly what we have missed, faded towards the end a little and should have been subbed. Chaplow 5 game bypassed him and can't complain about being subbed Hammond 6 competed hard Chamberlain 4 poor game for him. Started brilliantly, but overall his touch was not up to scratch when under pressure, and made lots of poor choices going up blind alleys. Its almost impossible to take him off because you7 know he can carve the opposition up0, but today Adkins must have considered it long before he did take him off. High standards not met today. Lambert 9 Outstanding game. Link up play top class and dominated in the air. Not seen him play better all season. Gully 5 some good touches then some poor. Didn't get close enough to Lambert for my liking and little threat Morgan 7 looked right on his game, delightful pass to put Chamberlain in, looked strong Barnard 7 good control and workrate, usual stuff from him Gobern wonderful volley, no time for much else

was there a recall clause in the loan? If there was you'd think the league would force us to bring him back rather than allowing an emergency loan.
-
with that sort if form you know they will be looking to keep it very tight, so its imperative we get an early goal and force them out. Teams that don;t want to play can be very hard to break down and often then catch us on the break. Out of the blocks fast, and early goal and we'll be home free.
-
and I didn't realise he managed to get Ben Tal Haim a four year deal.

you need to post more often. A very good assessment IMO.

Southampton set for £50million takeover bid from Middle East (Daily Mail)

Two questions: How does Lawrie know diddly? Why would Lawrie make it up? -
Chamberlain is absolutely ****ing wasted at left midfield. If we got him on the ball down the right we'd take some of the pressure off. Why does Adkins play him there?
-
I'd get Jaidi on as well.
