Has anyone snapped up Chris Riggott yet?
-
I've not seen him in the reserves or for Eastleigh (not that either is a great place to judge him) - how has he looked? In the Gillingham game I thought he looked poor, extremely nervous (which is understandable), poor on the ball, slow to turn and not at all dominating in the air. Not every Saint felt that way though. I was one of the few non drinkers that day I might add. I'm sure he will improve and I'm not judging him on those couple of games I'm just stating what I saw. Seaborne does not dominate in the air, that is his biggest problem. He is reasonably quick and not too bad on the ball, but if you don't win headers at this level you get caught - as we did for a couple of years with the likes of Perry and Thomas (neither ever good enough in the air IMO). Funnily enough he looked quite good at Gillingham, but that was in comparison with Fonte who had an asbsolute shocker. Of all the positions you'd think CB would be Pardews area of expertise. Jahdi and Fonte have been tremendous signings, maybe in time the other two lads will be great as well. Time will tell.

agree. Its all very annoucing a new signing to the press, perhaps to give Cotterill confidence that something is happening back home while he is away, but until the FL allows it he's a Reading player.
-
will they get it though?
-
its not really Saints' fault that Reading won't let Antonio go. It looks like AP doesn't want Waigo. Not having gotten another CM won't effect our start as Hammond and Schneiderlin are still here, touch wood, although as the season progresses we certainly need more competition there thats for sure. I'm not concerned about the quality of the starting side, so with a little luck they will all be fit for the opening games. But like almost everyone on this forum I know that more quality is needed to win the league - hopefully we can secure it. Why don't you cheer up a little. If we don't sign the players by the end of the window then is the time to lament our lack of signings not now.
-
Agreed. We could fill the positions without any problem. I mean we could have offered Gillet and James new deals for starters, but we are trying to win the league this year so we need the best and they are hard to recruit. If we are trying to get the likes of Antonio, Stock, Danns, Edwards, Dawson and Aliadiere in at the right price and wage it's little wonder it is taking time.

I'm not so sure about that. Waigo and Anotnio need replacing for sure. No matter what ******** people are posting on here about the number of games Antonio and Waigo started, they played in a combined 63 league games, not to mention the cup runs. Neither were perfect but in Antonio we had genuine pace and a real impact player from the bench. If we can't get him we are going to need more than a Holmes or a Chamberlain to win tight games. A central midfielder is also a must. Hammond is not the be all and end all. If Gobern doesn't step up to the plate we maybe even need another as Pulis and Wotton can't be relied upon to win games for us. A five man midfield stood us in good stead last season at times, but you need the right bodies to play that formation. I also personally think we need another centre back as well as Seaborne and Martin haven't impressed me to date, but then again I'm perhaps just greedy. IMO we certainly need to add to the squad to win this league and I expect us to do just that.
-
nah,they just want their money.
-
shame because he (Dawson) is a decent player with great potential as well. I'm far from convinced by Seaborne or Martin so personally I'd welcome another CB signing and he's the crop of the league 2 players thats for sure.
-
the Carlos Edwards one gets my vote.
-
Norwich fans must have must have forgotten that they were relegated when they bought their tickets last summer then.
-
why didn't bournemouth take advantage of this loop hole? Has Sonko actually signed on loan or is this subject to the embargo being lifted?
-
Lampitt is from the FA. I'd of thought they would want to unearth Premier league shame as they aer at loggerheads as to who is the right body to run football?
-
we sold tickets for last season at the start of the season not the end. At that point we certainly weren't title favourites therefore the product was different to what it is now. Not that it matters, but we'd of finished 5th with the 10.
-
I'm not sure its exactly the same product. The two squads (last year and this) and the likelyhood of us challenging for promotion are very different.
-
er, well by the sounds of it yes we did lose them. Not all season ticket holders feel their lives will end if they don't renew. Some need gentle coaxing and the clubs bank balance will benefit from persuading as many people as possible to buy a ticket. Amist these threads I think SRS has tried to point out that not all fans are the same and a gentle nudge CAN genuinely make a difference when it comes to them renewing. In the club's defence they have done just this via email.
-
seems a strange attitude considering the stadium is only two thirds full these days.
-
Did I? Which earlier post is this? I don't think I have ever said the 10% rise in ticket prices have priced anyone out.
-
that would be quite an interesting ploy if it was deliberate to say there `will not half season tickets' to encourage people to buy a full one, only then to make an about turn to maximise revenue.
-
My brum season ticket holder mate (who has a decent eye for a player) suggests the following: He is very talented. Don't really understand why he never made it. He has quick feet and can beat a man. He has pace and can cross. Bit of a show pony and doesn't like tracking back too much. He was a luxury player and in teams like birmingham, these luxury players need to be bloody good as they don't pass to feet that often. It is probably his mentality that has held him back. He would be too good for Div 1 and if I was you I would be quite excited if you signed him.
-
I don't understand your point at all or your maths. 52 x 2 = £104, x 3 = £156. I don't have a clue what those two figures relate to but it certainly isn't a season ticket price, or two, or a family's worth of season tickets. I think you need to explain. For the record some fans have gone from a situation where they could spread the cost of the payments over the course of a year to having to stump up the whole amount in one go. Having a lump sum available is very different from being able to opay for an item over the course of a season. There was also no time to prepare for this change. Finding say £700 for two tickets in just a few weeks is not easy for many many fans. The club CAN be blamed for that. I don't know your financial situation but if you had to pay for a brand new car all in one go or maybe a house all on one go would you struggle? I personally have no issue with the prices or the lack of a payment plan, but removing it at such short notice went against the clubs charter and was a poor decision in my eyes. The only reason I can see for NC doing this was that he was so ****ed off when he found out that some people may have abused the system that he pulled it instantly. I know I'd of been annoyed. But unless the number of people abusing the system were very high (and there was no indication of this from the club) then the removal of the plan hurt those that didn't abuse it. There was an alternative - send half a season ticket out once the first half had been paid and the other half once the second half had been paid.
-
I can't argue with any of that. I certainly didn't forcast lower ST sales. I also appreciate where we are compared to last year. NC certainly isn't perfect though, but what chairman is?
