  1. he showed a lot on Saturday, but I agree he has even more to offer. The lad is going to be some player as I think most people have known since the first few minutes of his first game for us. The step down in level has helped him. I wonder if he would have been as effective in the CCC THIS season. Wright couldn't cover the ground quickly enough. That was his problem.
  2. Avram Grants' non stop moaning about how they have been treated seems to have rubbed off on these clueless idiots. They honestly now believe that the world is out to get them. FFS, the rules state clearly that 9 points is removed should the club go into administration. Why cry about it now? You knew the rules and accepted them along with the £90m TV revenue over the last 3 years. As for the £1m fine, I think they might actually be getting away with it here, as this could well be as a result of breaking the type rules that Luton fell foul of - which saw them lose how many points???
  3. that point only works if you describe Morgan as a playmaking midfielder. Is that what he is as I'd have him down as more a water carrier? If you described him as a defensive midfielder (which I'm not by the way) then you could point to the clean sheet and say he probably had a decent game.
  4. you're kidding right?
  5. firstly his first touch is immaculate. Out wide where the is loads of space you can get away with it, but in the middle it has to be spot on, and his is just that, every single time. This is taken for granted, but it shouldn't be. What he also does very well is take the ball with an oponent up his arse, and he keeps it. Even in the tightest of areas he still comes away with the ball. Yes he passes square a fair bit but he keeps posession. When he misplaces a pass boy do you notice it. Off the ball he is a different player to last season. He works so much harder than before putting oponents under pressure. He made more tackles than any other player yesterday stealing the ball time after time. This was part of the reason they looked so poor. They never got going and never had the ball for long enough to hurt us. Morgan played a big role in that. The dirty stuff, the stuff you don't notice like tracking back are other parts of his game that he has improved. You are right he doesn't seem to unlock defences, but he keeps us ticking over and that is very important. He's like Paul McKenna at Forest (just look at how they have improved with him in their side and how they have struggled in recent weeks without him). He doesn't unlock a defence, score goals or even ass forward much, but boy is he crucial to them as he was for Preston. The abilty to pass and control is expected of a CM, but it doesn't mean they can all do it. This lad can and as long as he keeps progressing as he has done then I'll keep singing his praises. Just out of interest do you miss Saga and Skacel? How are they doing at their new clubs?
  6. why does a player have to make a telling pass to have a great game? By the same account can someone who does make a telling pass have a shocker? What is it you want from MS? It strikes me that all is missing from his game is goals and we're not short of them. I criticised him a lot last season for not making tackles but he has added that to his game along with much greater work rate. He was everywhere yesterday and was the only player to show for a pass, willing to out his fot on it as well as bring it down and play. He's a joy to watch in that form, they couldn't get the ball off him no matter how tight they got. Each to their own. There is always Wotton I suppose. Overall the game was poor and we played poorly, but that doesn't mean some players didn't have good games. Te defence did their job, Morgan had a decent game, Lambert was clinical. The rest of the midfield was well below par and its in midfield that the game is played and the likes of Puncheon, Hammond and Lallana were not up to much so the game suffered as a result. The fact they hoofed it a lot just made it worse. As for the pen, I stand by my comments. As expected the camera angle was from behind and from that angle (and the refs) it looked like a pen, but from behind the goal it was so obvious that he dived. The fella next to me was laughing and doing the diving mime so I wasn't the only one to think he dived. As I said there was the feigntest of touches but nowhere near enough to justify the theatrical fall. It matters not.
  7. not sure dingy is the right word. Its impressive IMO, perhaps more impressive than SMS, though only half finished. The problem is that its way too big for them and what little noise their fans make can hardly be heard.
  8. That might be so but has the administrator denied/confirmed that proof of funds has taken place?
  9. Chez

    £1700 Trainers!

do people put these items on ebay with unbelievable high prices in the hope that some drunk **** presses the buy it now button by mistake?
  10. Lloyd stated that he had shown proof of funds on the Quay on Thursday.
  11. if you say so, but I know what I saw. If you want to make excuses for him that's fine by me. When we get done by something similar don't come crying to me
  12. Released by Arsenal and not wanted by Moscow or Brum (or Cardiff actually). I've seen him a lot for Brum and without doubt his best two games have been against us (once for Brum and once with the skates). He's not amazing. Ask the skates and even they will not big him up. His wages are pretty big. Brum got shot and brought in three players: Boazza, Sinclair and Bowyer for less money. At our level though its a no brainer.
  13. there was plenty of complaints from Franchise, but **** em. I hate everything about the club. The camera angle will be from behind, a similar (but more arial) view to the ref, but he dived. There may have been the feigntest if touches but nowhere near enough to make him fall. I was embaressed.
  14. I had the best view in the stadium. It was a dive. I imagine the Solent commentators were up in the gods on the half way line. Yep, Ricky did very little. I should have given him a 7. Just one of about 85 decisions the ref got wrong.
  15. get rid of the **** with the mike `winding up' the fans just before we kick off. It's cringeworthy. I advise anyoen that has not been to go to Anfield and see how `football is done'. Class.
  16. don't be fooled by the scoreline, we were rubbish. Not headless chicken rubbish like on Tuesday, but more Wycombe, do next to noithng rubbish. I guess the dfference was that we did compete all over the pitch and of course franchise were woeful. Much worse than Wycobe. I have no idea how they are near the top of the league and how on earth our friend Willy Gerrets continues to get a game in League 1 is beyond me. He has to be the worst keeper I have ever seen. Even worse than Ian Andrews. Much worse. I have to say I wanted to go home at half time. It was so boring. Thankfully I stayed and Ricky did the business and I came home happy. Just. Davies 6 He has totally abandoned coming for crosses, which is a shame as he was doing this well earlier in the season. One save and some decent short passes. Harding 8 Only once in the first half did you wish we had a right footer. Solid game (how many times have I written that this season) and never beaten - ever. What more could you want of a full back. Genuine contender for player of the season. Mills 7 ball watched just once. Never ever in trouble and looked comfortable. Massive improvement on last showing. Perhaps shows how bad opposition was. Pcae is a real bonus. Fonte 7 solid game. Dived for the pen. Cheat. I hate that and don't want to see it again. I shoukd mark down for that but whats the point... Seaborne 7 Wilbraham is a handful but he didn't get a sniff. H ewon everything. Some headers went straight in the air, Perry-like, but he wasn't bullied. He saw the ball more than anyone else (Morgan aside) and in general he pumped it wide to Lallana or Lambert. Needed more options. Hammond where are you? Lallana 5 Stayed out wide but was tightly marked. They doubled up at times and he didn't get any room at all. No real impact on the game but not for the want of trying. Hammond 5 didn't show himself for a pass from Seaborne all day and I didn't notice him at all in the first half. Morgan 9 Tremendous game. Great touch, passing, skills, tackling, hussle the works. He'd get a ten if he made more effort with headers today. Puncheon 1 Woeful. Painful watching him dither, miscontrol and pass aimlessly. Terrible display continuing on from Tuesday. On Tuesday he looked like he gave up, today he was just crap. Barnard 6 worked hard as always, but didn't really do much. Lambert 8 the first was woeful keeping, the second was a decently hit pen, the third was quality (and woeful keeping). Didn't do a great deal else. It was that sort of game. Waigo 7 offside too many times even for a man that plays on the shoulder. He competed well and pace created a couple of openings. I'd start him ahead of Barnard. Connelly 6 his touch has gone. Its just like when he started the season. Loads of effort, but fitness and sharpness not quite there. Can't wait for it to return as he created opening for Waigo even without having the ball under control. Wotton Football Genius.
  17. I'd take Liam O'Brien immediately.
  18. you can pay on the day according to the ticket office.
  19. anyone know if you can pay on the day?
  20. can you pay on the day???
  21. Thomas is not good enough at right back or centre back. He's on a high wage, injury prone and not getting any younger/better. Pardew clearly doesn't rate him. I'd of thought he was out of here.
  22. yes but does that kitman have to earn quite so much money?
  23. we had no excuses last night and in the second half we were woeful for so many reasons not least the gung ho substitutions and formation so soon after going behind. Seeing Jaidi playng centre forward for about five minutes with half an hour to go make me wonder what the hell is going on. We did play well in the first half against a decent Swindon side. Needed to take one of those chances. The second half was a shambles. Why are we panicing at 0-1? Davis 4 spilled some easy chances, some poor kicks, some sensible safe kicking Thomas 5 ran ragged by their wideman, but through a fair degree of fouling he just managed to contain him. The yellow left him exsposed. Fonte 7 a terrible ball forward from him that was easily cut out left him out of position and lead directly to the goal. Thought he had a decent game apart from that Jaidi 4 very poor second half and was done several times Harding 8 Decent game and at times was left terribly exposed. Hammond 7 very good first half, got overun in second and then subbed. We got worse when he did. Morgan 8 Brilliant in the first half, gave everything. Lallana 5 not bad in the first half but the formation left him with no where to go. Puncheon (9 first half, 0 second) reasl jackal and hyde operformance. Looked totally disinterested in second half and HE should have been subbed. Barnard 6 quite a few half chances that he either didn't get under control or scuffed Lambert 6 great strike to hit the bar and won a lot in the air. James 2 no one to pass to, but when he did cross it was ****. Wagio 5 not helped by the narrow formation that saw him Lambert and Connelly all treading on each others toes Connelly 6 bright but not fit. see problem above.
  24. Charlton were winning games at the end of the previous season - they took us apart at SMS for example - so they had already turned things around.
  25. funny cos they always bang on about the price being a reflection of what they paid in the past as they have to buy well in advance. Strikes me they change their tune to whatever fits.
