  1. Great headline. Some of you need to lighten up a little and remember that we have only just been saved from fate worse than death - shopping on a Saturday afternoon!
  2. I didn't rate him at the time, so I and the Saints management perhaps got that wrong, but what we could have done was shown more patience and foresight and signed him and loaned him out. The problem these days is young players want a big contract and you can't offer that to someone that is not going to be in the first team for some time. I guess the financial model of the club would need to be readjusted to spend more on youth development, and by that I mean finding the money to put young players on three, four and five year contracts. A gamble, but then so is signing a player for a million or more and then him not working out.
  3. in reality we only don't need keepers and even reserve keeper might be up for grabs as the others have not impressed.
  4. once these two have sorted out their lives then AP will kjnow where he stands, have the available transsfer funds and wages available to get who he wants. I know we want our line up sorted, but it has to be prudent to sell before you buy. With a bit of luck the minute the contract is singed we can unveil their replacements. These are very interesting times. Enjoy it.
  5. is this some sort of trial for a new promoition from Durys? Buy a room and get a free Saints ticket? Could work you know. if not why?

    Ryan Smith

what an endorsement that is. Jisus.

    Ryan Smith

is that why Wotte released him?

    Milwall

they sold out (SMS allocation) a few years ago in the CCC but that was in a game ti avoid relegation.
  9. perhaps he thought that the billionaire owner would chuck silly money at him. I'm glad they didn't. Lets get hungry rising stars here.
  10. How about Josh Thompson to fill the vacent centre back position. 18 years old and 6"4 and interesting Premiership clubs. They unlike us won't be able to offer first team football. This is exactly the sort of player we should be busting a gut to sign IMO. £250,000 is the rumoured price.

    Murty

or perhaps 4) he is choosing to assess him over a longer period of time to make sure he makes the right decision.
  12. behave. If all three go the wage bill will be massively reduced and AP will have much more flexibility in the transfer market. Whetehr or not he brings the right players in is of course a different matter.
  13. It looks like Mark Bright to me.
  14. spot on. Add to that we've already seen a reduction in bull**** news items on the OS, no leaks to the press about any of the internal goings on, and by not offering Stern John silly money that he could nto turn down - a clear indication that the club will be well run financially as well.

    Saga and Greg

is that inside knowledge or a guess?
  16. that both clubs have been conned into buying and fielding duds. Yours cost 1.7m quid and played in goal whilst ours got ten minutes before being quickly removed.

    Leroy Lita

    is that true?
  18. yeah that sounds like Pardew. No ambition or desire. Insert rolly eyes thing here if I knew how.
  19. so ****ing what? Do you think Pardew is sat at home picking his arse? Of course not. We are three weeks behind everyone else and I would add that relegated sides need a lot more work during the summer months than any other sides. Every Saints fan knows we need to improve the squad. We are not sticking our heads in the sand, but many of us aren't worryin because its only five minutes since we thought we'd never see the side again. Any thing now is a bonus. But don;t think that the same fans don;t want to see us challenge. Of course we do, but the problem Pardew has is not bringing in players, anyone can sign players, but bringing in the kind of quality that will get us promoted, now that is a different story altogether. Panic buy at your peril and you end up with mediocre like Thomas. To be honest I'd much prefer ardew to be attempting to sign the almost unsignable rather than just mopping up the remaining out of contract dross. I'd add that until Saga and Rasiak (and maybe a few opthers) make their minds up then the squad is in flux anyway especially if Pardew has to balance the books. Knock Rasiak's £15k a week from the wage bill and we can sign three decent players.
  20. but you did sign Rodolph Douala, Ognjen Koroman, Lucien Aubey, Konstantinos Chalkias, Djimi Traore, Giannis Skopelitis, Aleksandar Rodic, Ivica Mornar , Mladen Rudonja, and your very own Ali `Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi' Dia. Actually, habe you ever seen John `£7 ha ha million' Utaka and Ali Dia in the same room?

    Leroy Lita

I don't believe this. First N'Guessen and now Pearson is after another of my HCDAJFUs in Lita. I'm pretty sure I touted Wayne Brown as a good signing a year ago and Richie Wellens is another I have suggested for years. No wonder I rated Pearson, he appears to see similar things in players as I do.
  22. I'm pleased to be honest. I've never seen a lazier player ever in 26 years of watching saints. As I said on another thread discussing his potential move to Palace, John never gave a **** about Saints. There are other fish in the sea so to speak.
  23. this idea that Marsden was a fairly ordinary player before he joined Saints is utter rubbish. I watched him a number of times for Brum in the league below and he was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch. He was a class act at that level, playing in central midfield and runnnig games with that cultured left foot of his. He was a gamble because he was comign from a lower league but if you buy the best palyers from the league below more often than not they more than hold their own. People use him as an example because Premiership fans have those blinkers on where they don't recognise talent in the lower leagues. Sorry for the rant but it gets on my nerves when people talk about Chris' career as though it only ever included the seasons with us.

    Niemi to Pompey

I just can't imagine him in a Poopey shirt. My stomach is turning.
  25. will they? Only Leeds' Delph is going to go for silly money. Other clubs need to balance books so players are available at the right price.
