  1. to be fair they weren't as bad the season they went down from the ccc as we were and they retained all their players apart from Hume. They also bought wisely and the full squad had a full preseason together.
  2. that takeover malarky and new manager thingymagig?
  3. if he wants a top 2 finish then he is going to have to totally revamp the side and that means bringing in 8 or 9 top quality players. There are several bosmans that meet this criteria who will demand high wages for this level, but we are also going to have to raid the best of league 1 and 2 paying real transfer money. Exciting times.

could not agree more. I'd add that the improved atmosphere generated by having that section opem will make the `match day experience' better for all in the ground and this will actually encourage people to come back - thereby increasing income.
  5. I can't imagine Stern is impressed by having to go on trial at Palace. He's been around a long time and everyone knows what he is about. Still if no one else really want him then we can drive the contract offer down freeing more funds for other signings,
  6. you are right I wouldn't hire you as a scout. If a striker gets no service and he is the sort of striker that relies on it like Stern, Saga and Rasiak then all you can do is judge them on what they do when they get the ball. When the ball has got to Rasiak he has looked sharp and worked hard to keep possesion. What more do you want in that situation? I've never said he has pulled any trees up, all I have said is that he looks like he wants to play as apposed to wants to be somewhere else (which might be the case but certainly does not show up in the friendlies).
  7. MON gave him game time last season. If he goes on loan it won't be to a League 1 side.
  8. what the ugly massively overated skate ****er? Do me a favour. He's looking for a Premiership move, perhaps back to the hole he came from.

Griffo. I tried to get three seats together in block 4. If you wait till after August 31st then seats may become available should a ST holder not renew. I was told that blocks 1-3 will NOT be opened until every other seat has been sold. It is the `most expensive area to open' apparently (I find that hard to believe as stewards are still there even with the netting and huge segregation areas) so the other corners will be opened first. Stupid in my opinion. This corner is extremely popular with fans and with no terraces fans are desperate for even the remotest amount of atmosphere such as the Itchen/away fans offers. I know we went over this last year but I'd be interested to know excatly how much is saved in a season by having blocks 1-3 closed. They quoted £200,000 for all the corners and the majoirty of thjat due to blocks 1-3. That is a hell of a lot of police costs - which I can only assume is what makes up this figure.
  11. No idea what you mean by this. He has played well in every game and looked like he was trying to impress in each, be that for scouts or the current manager.
  12. that excellent hatrick seems to be much more to the forefront of your mind than the countless misses in the saem season. Arsenal fans' comments about Adebayor spring to mind. Not the laziness, more to do with the fact that he may have scored a fair few but he should have scored a lot more.
  13. poppy****. Rasiak has a decent first touch, as good as John and where on earth do you get this idea that Stern John is powerful? He isn't powerful at all. Powerful would be a word to descirbe Kenwyne Jones or Adebola. They will both score goal but will John create more of his own? From my recollection Rasiak is a lethal finisher whilst John misses a fair few chances. John stands around waiting for his chances and rasiak does a fair bit of that himself but when it comes to movement Stern John is like a statue. that sentance could be applied to John. He does absolutely **** all running and its not because he is slow (which Rasiak is) its because he is ****ing lazy. John is actually quite quick, I saw it with my own eyes when he ****ed up one time he let his guard down and sprinted after the ball. He is quick but he chooses not to use any energy, Lazy and therefore very frustrating. Rasiak on the other hand is just slow so chasing after long balls is pointless. I'm not the greatest fan of either to be honest, I like to see pace and movement and effort up front. In my opinion there is no reason whatsoever why a striker can not run all day and still score goals. I'm not talking about headless chicken stuff I am talking about making runs, dragging center backs out of position, drivign into the box and also running across the line as the first line of defence.
  14. it more to do with timescale. Out of contract players won't be out of contract for very long if they are any good so they need to be addressed now - there is only so much time in the day, whilst in contract players will still be available to AP until 31st August when the window closes. Loans can obviously be taken on throughout the season so the urgency is just not there.
  15. five keepers in a squad of 28 is rediculous for a league 1 side.
  16. that is wonderful PR spin for being ****ing lazy. It looks like we are signing him so I am going to have to get used to it. I am dissapointed because I wanted two strikers that offered pace and power and workrate. Stern John is just a goal hanger. He will get goals but only if we put them on a plate for him and even then he still misses chances.
  17. Rasiak certainly hasn't played in the friendlies as though he wants a move. I still think he is a better player than Stern.
  18. no, much prefer transfer rumour threads.
  19. Davis Hoefkins Jardhi Pele Mills Chris Shuker Gillett Steven Dawson Chris Taylor Webber John Bart Neal Eardley, Simon King, Danny Livesey, Harding, Gobern, Tommy Doherty, Schneiderlin, Holmes Patterson, Steve Kabba I'm talking expensive, but credible signings, followed by promotion. Simple.
  20. I guess I am the only one that isn't all that excited by the John contract offer. He is so lazy.
  21. I've never been overly concerned with experience to be honest but quality, thats a different matter. Perhaps you can describe Saga's qualities to me as in my mind he lacks pace, is crap in the air, lacks strength, offers poor link up play and is a terrible passer. That leaves work rate which I think is average to say the least (I know others disagree), movement and finishing. I'm not sure his movement is fantastic so that leaves finishing. Is it finishing that is his main quality?
  22. every game I have seen him in he has looked decent.
  23. He was totally blameless on Saturday. It sounds as though he didn't impress last night but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to be here. If he leaves then it will free up wages but it is essential that we buy in quality.
  24. well spotted and mind instantly wanders to ****flaps who would never ever use the term `we' to describe what went before (if it was bad).
  25. I agree with Window that we need two not one. Perry tries hard but that is not enough.
