For god's SAKE when is someone going to get a piece of paper with some instructions on out there?
-
Thanks for delivering a perfect example of the mindset I was referring to. He "just" got the dates wrong.....then proceed to do the old Nathan Redmond routine which is two seasons after the time I was talking about. It's amazing how much of an inconvenience it is to some people that our best ever two seasons in the Premier League happened at all, that it's "pedantic" to even mention them.
-
Have you just come out of a coma?
-
What close season are you even talking about?
-
OK, I thought you were offering reasons why a manager would take on the Saints job right now, or why we would offer it right now. It feels like you don't have any reasons. Also you did literally say And letβs not forget the phenomenal money they would earn, a small fortune by most of our standards in very short time. ...which kind of made me think that you were saying we should "pay exceptional money for a short term gig". All that generic stuff about how well paid they are is true in January and true in July so is not a reason. So you're now saying that you don't think we should do it and you don't think we will do it. Other than that, great point π
-
Why would we pay a "phenomenal" amount of money to someone to relegate us? We're not going to offer that and no one is going to take it. Maybe, maybe, maybe we recruit someone in the last week of the season who uses the last Sunday as some extension of pre-season but it feels unlikely. The squad on August 1st will be unrecognisable so what would be the point?

Yes, I know exactly what he meant, and it is moronic. There is a section on this forum that had a narrative in their head after the summer of 2014 and when that narrative did not actually happen (because we had our two best ever Premier League seasons) they just decide that it did happen anyway, things did all go to shit and finishing 7th and 6th was some accident or just "luck" that covered up what was really happening. The same people would never describe our promotion to the PL as "we got lucky" and they'd never describe Puel's season where we lost a Β£75m centre back for a half a season as "we got unlucky". Oh no no no luck had nothing to do with any of those other seasons,no sir, just the ones where we finished 7th and 6th which was all some massive fluke because it suits the agenda some people want to make.
-
Jesus wept. We finish 7th and 6th and then 8th after your supposed "start of the process". That includes our highest finish and highest ever points in any Premier League season. I doubt we'll ever beat that. Honestly you have to be some kind of prick just to write that off as "we got lucky for a couple of seasons."
-
Sure, they've made some mistakes but really we should be grateful to them for delivering last summer what many described as a 9/10 transfer window.
-
We got to the last day in 2005, absolutely no chance of that with this lot.
-
Just to confirm, Forest beating Brighton last night was fucking irrelevant.
-
Apparently JWP has been going through the eye of a needle all week.
-
If this is s tactical change then good luck Selles.
-
My understanding is that we are only going down because flipping Brighton lost to Forest last night. Oh that Brighton make me like so furious.

Get behind the lads FFS

For a start Everton still have Leicester to play so it's impossible for all of them to lose all of their games. If your devil's advocate scenario is three teams lose all their remaining games and none of them get more than 30 points but Saints still don't get more than 30 either and go down then that's a ridiculous scenario that isn't going to happen. The team in 17th will have more than 30. If we can only get 30 points we will deservedly go down. We are not going to relegated just because boo hoo Forest beat Brighton. This is the fundamental problem with those people that are just willing every other team to lose themselves to our safety. It's not how it works, Saints actually have to do their part. The point is three teams go down, its not a play off between us and Forest. Forest winning a match last night is irrelevant. The point is to stay up we need ourselves to get significantly mote points than Forest have now, so them being on 30 today is irrelevant because we need more than 30. We needed more than 30 before Forest kicked off last night. We needed more than 30 on August 1st 2022.
-
We can win tomorrow. All relegated teams win some games. Burnley won 8 last season. Sheffield United 7 before that. Bournemouth 9 and Watford 8 season before. Cardiff 10 and Fulham 7 before that. So yes we can win tomorrow.
-
You realise three teams go down right? It's not a play off between us and Forest. Forest can lose all their remaining games 10-0 and it doesn't stop us going down.
-
It's irrelevant. On August 1st 2022 we needed [at least] 36 points to stay up, and we still do today.
-
Manchester City are going to win the league because of all the matches they have won, themselves. Not because of other teams dropping points. It's not difficult.
-
Fine, good for you. I'm glad we agree that the Forest result tonight is completely irrelevant then because we weren't mathmatically relegated at kick off and we still aren't now πππ
-
If you think we are going to win six in a row, why do you care if Forest won tonight then?
-
Well, yes I will. Of course I will. Forest have got 30 points. You do know we definitely need more than that to stay up, right? Beat those 2 and we're on 30 and we would still be bottom three in two games time regardless of whether Forest won or not tonight. The rest of the league are not just going to roll over and let us stay up.
-
It's completely irrelevant.
