We need a bare minimum of 3 wins from 6 games and can only afford to maybe lose one more match all season. We're not going to do it. A point or two for Leeds or Leicester either way feels irrelevant.

Why are you pretending we are going to be some mega spending club breaking the bank for managers when we're in the Championship? We will not be offering Graham Potter more money than he can get at any established Premier League club. He will not be "considering" us, he is not going to be our manager. Not sure if you've been following us this season but Wolves and Villa got big name European managers snd we got a twat from Luton. I am hopeful we will get a decent manager but we will not be blowing Premier League clubs out of the water.

Graham Potter is not going to be our manager next season. Honestly unbelievable to me that any Saints fan would think he is going to be. My guess for him is he just might go and do a David Moyes/Steve McClaren and manage abroad after his big job failure. Germany, Spain. He already has some European managerial experience, so it's a logical step. If not then yes the usual suspects of mid table middling Prem clubs. Which won't be us.

Now do six wins all season, twenty defeats and rock bottom. Now do all the defeats against the teams around us. Chelsea are currently bottom half anyway. The cup tie meant nothing in the scheme of things, that's what flattering to deceive means.

Carlton Palmer didn't enjoy his time at Saints particularly and didn't/doesn't like Matt Le Tissier specifically. He went into that in the Quickly Kevin podcast a few years ago. I would never expect Palmer to talk about us, he's not known for being a Southampton person, he was with us for less than a season and a half in a career where he played for lots of clubs and England. I never hear any fans ever talk fondly about him, no one is nostalgic about him here. We don't care about him, so why should he care about us? I think you are being completely unfair on Shearer. His missus is from Southampton, and he talks about us fondly from time to time, especially in the context of his development. When our relegation is confirmed I am sure he will say something. He's from Newcastle and is a favourite son of the city. God knows why you'd expect him to be chatting about us every five minutes. Some Saints fans are absolutely myopic.

It's a bit late to "start picking up points". We are going down because you don't stay up off the back of pull-out-all-the-stops gut-busting hard fought draws and noble defeats against the Champions League clubs. We usually do pretty well against Bournemouth but even winning it won't be enough. We're down because we flatter to deceive against the big clubs then shit the bed against the bottom half clubs.

I think you are probably over estimating the recruiting of 8-12 year old children in the process. Really the coaching structure, facilities, culture, pathway, support network etc etc are infinitely more important and that is the accountability of someone other than Les Reed for the last five years, which is a long time in football. I know it's awfully fun and nostalgic to keep blaming him for everything but seriously, get over it.
