  1. Exactly. Being that it was two games between 4 clubs down in the mix I fail to see what results would be seen as going "our way". Some if the teams were going to get points yesterday, just how it is. If all four got a point each is that better? Leeds getting a point under their caretaker manager is better then them just losing? Don't get it. We need more than just relying on other teams failing to stay up.
  2. Sad to say the most likely outcome is both of us go down.
  3. We looked organised, definitely seeing an improvement, I reckon they are really playing for Selles, the new players looking good, at least it looks like a system, plenty of positives to build on. 1-3 defeat.

I've watched most of the press conference and I have concluded that he is an absolute sweetheart ❤ ❤❤
  5. I've been dead for years.
  6. They know who they are 😉
  7. https://theathletic.com/4211070/2023/02/16/jesse-marsch-southampton?source=user-shared-article There's an awful lot of detail about our pursuit of Jesse Marsch here, especially when we've been told by some on here that the whole thing was just a load of made up rumours on twitter.
  8. The idea that Nigel Adkins is a figure comparable to Trevor Brooking at WHU or Shearer at Newcastle at absolutely crazy.
  9. Except the only reason you want him to come is because of what he did previously. You wouldn't be recommending any other manager who has recently failed at Sheffield United and Charlton (or similar clubs) in League One. So I don't get the argument why you want him.
  10. I don’t work in football administration but anyone who does should have been able to anticipate this scenario (and others) before Jessie Marsch even got on the M1 to come down. He only got sacked two weeks ago so would definitely still be being paid by Leeds. Obviously whatever they tried to negotiate wasn't enough for us or him. Really I think the error is the club are far too leaky and chatty to pet journalists/contacts. The over confident briefings yesterday morning I think were an avoidable mistake.
  11. We had a relegation scare the one season before Ralph arrived but the season before that we were 8th, then 6th, then 7th and then 8th before that.
  12. Except it wasn't "twitter", it was The Athletic, the Daily Telegraph and Adam Blackmore, all of which have contact in the club. And Jessie Marsch clearly was in a Southampton hotel yesterday, or was that made up "on social media", too? It's clear and obvious that we spoke to him and here we are, he is not going to be our manager. You can pretend that is some strategic triumph if you like but regardless of who has rejected who, we brought someone down to the city to then not appoint them, and as it stands not appoint anyone else either. We all know you are an apologist for this regime but they fucked up the summer window, they fucked up getting rid of Ralph then, they utterly fucked up the replacement which any fool could see was a disaster, they fucked up opportunity to sack him before Wolves and now today as well.....excuse us all for immediately assuming they have fucked up again. Because they're great at it.

He'll just turn out to be the Spanish Brian Kidd.

  15. I only have one question - where does it say he's only getting a short term contract? I've not actually seen that anywhere but it is being discussed here like it is gospel.
  16. We'll agree to disagree. Saying we're five points behind is a really lazy way of looking at it. Honestly that is loads and loads of points in the position we are in. We are miles off where we need to be, which for a rule of thumb is one-point-per-game. Even if we win the next three on the spin (dreamland) we still won't even have got to that metric. We will win some games, but I don't see that we are winning 5 of the next 16 (plus 6 draws, bare minimum to get to 36). We can only afford 5 more defeats in a season where we have already lost 15. To actually get to a point a game (38) that's at least 2 more draws or a win. So 4 more defeats this season, or just 3 more between now and the end? Really? Burnley were 3 points off after 38 games but they still went down. Three teams drop every season, we will be one of them.
  17. I'm struggling to think who he sold a "vision" or a "project" to - Dani Osvaldo maybe. Everyone else would have come for perfectly standard reasons - money and/or opportunity.
  18. OK, your working premise is ridiculous. We should right now assume that SR will invest to get us back up because they have said that repeatedly.
  19. No but the situation now is different. Come the summer, we are a different animal and we will be in a position to attract different managers. Say Michael Carrick - he is not going to walk out on Middlesbrough today, but if he loses the play off final and we offer him a genuine step up, he might. And so on. Just a simple example but applies to managers all over the continent who would look at the job to take us up as a very attractive one. We're not just going to have Ian Holloway to pick from FFS.
  20. Honestly this is a slightly mad reading of the situation, unless SR suddenly just bail out, which we have no reason to think they will. We don't suddenly become Barnsley just because we get relegated.
  21. Does it though? Saints in the Championship in the summer with SR resources is a really good job in English football. We will be a very attractive proposition.
  22. I can already see myself getting annoyed by people on this forum, after we lose a couple of games, saying "we were told this guy was the saviour who was going to keep us up" Jessie Marsch is absolutley nailed on to be relegated with us, we have far too much to do now. He can come in and win his first two games in a row and even if he does that we will probably still be in the bottom 3. We are almost certain to be relegated, but if Marsch can at least get us organised and give the young players some guidance/focus/motivation, then great.
  23. Jessie Marsch did the league/cup double two seasons in a row in Austria which is a similar level of "no easy feat".
  24. They definitely have said no. There you go, done.
  25. Please can you stop going on about Potter. He can be sacked at eight o'clock tonight and he is still not going to immediately take a job at Saints. This is real life, not a computer game.
