Thanks for writing that. Good stuff. This season reminds me most of the Hoddle season, which was for a while was quite the high water mark for my time supporting Saints. But in reality not really that great. Lots of low scoring games, lots of drab possession football, when we won it was only ever 1-0. And, crucially, we were pretty dismal until the second half of the season, Feb/March time. I think he's done enough to get this window and his own shot at a strong run in the spring. This team, with maybe one addition and a Fonte replacement, has a 8th place finish in them. And Redmond in the England squad come June.

I don't understand how we think we think we can have it both ways. Either you play a settled team into the ground and then complain of tiredness. Or you rotate to prevent tiredness. We've decided to rotate (at an unprecedented scale) and still whine about how tired everyone is. Brilliant.

Yes, Les Reed did. Well done him.
-
On all levels no. One thing that makes me proud to be a Saints fan is the fact that we are never going to sign Jermaine Defoe.
-
They talked about it on Five Live earlier and I think Danny Mills said "he won't go for much money, he'll be cheap like £15m" and everyone else nodded in agreement. I just laughed at the radio....fifteen???? They didn’t hear me.

Would be a cute move if true. If Les has got his "well, if we get a replacement" routine out there on the day he knows he's got his replacement already then fair play to him. Les Reed - quite the operator.
-
Proven beyond doubt to be completely replaceable and subsequently and unsurprisingly unemployable in world football. Granted he got lucky with one critical appointment, Les Reed, and it fell into place from there. He was a decent lower league chairman but collapsed like a souffle in the big league.

Was it balls. Cortese knew fu ck all about football.
-
This effort is just making up the numbers. 0.2/10
-
Do you really think he'll pull through? I know it's serious.
-
We're not going to sign Defoe in a million years, so dry your eyes chaps.
-
Right you are, sweetheart.

Stoke were definitely interested in Redmond and no doubt would have paid similar. The player basically had the choice between us and them. Less concrete but this article chucks in WHU and Palace as potential clubs too. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3648594/Stoke-City-steal-march-managerless-Southampton-race-Nathan-Redmond.html

Leicester did not have a policy to win the league.
-
We need him now.
-
This time last year you were predicting that we would only win one more game in the season, meaning Newcastle would overtake us and we would be relegated because 40 points wouldn't be enough to stay up, as it was one of those seasons where 40 wouldn't be enough to stay up. In fairness, you were only spectacularly wrong about every single thing you said then, but clearly you know much better this time round. How buggered are we going to be? Do you think we can scrape a draw or two before mid-May?
-
Does this result mean Saints are good or sh it now, I can't keep up.
-
Eddie Howe is nothing more than Alan Curbishley for the Snapchat generation.
-
We're not going to sell him now. In the summer, yes, but not now.
-
Wincing as I read this effort. You'll never get snapped up to the wind-up merchant big five with dross like that. All over the place. 0.5/10.

That website randomly generates the exact same stories just changing the name of the club, the manager and the player. It's like the football rumour equivalent of those personalised story books you can get for your children.
-
100% correct but it won't go down well in these parts. Well done for trying though.
-
Since we're in a big five league (England, Germany, Spain etc). Did you not actually look at the list?

A Happy Clapper seems to defined as someone who dares to think that being in our first major cup semi final for nigh-on a decade and a half is quite a good thing, actually. That's what "happy clappers" think. Garry Monk sacked by Swansea last December with the club in 15th having been beaten 3-0 at home, 3 wins at that point and one win in 11 league matches preceding his sacking. But no doubt Saints fans would be dancing in the streets if he was appointed and no doubt give the whole city a lift, what with him being such a Southampton legend with all those ten games he played for us. Happy Clapper me right up if that's what I'm up against.

How is being in a semi final of a major competition "our enemy"? Some people are effing mental. Mental.
