  1. What the bloke who destroyed Charlton??? The man's a clown etc.
  2. I'll be like a dropped Cornetto on Bournemouth beach in August if be appoint Howe.
  3. I will happily argue it will be an effing terrible appointment. And you'll know occasionally I do like to argue.
  4. For God's sake somebody assassinate Eddie Izzard. Just throw him down a well or something.
  5. Odd when clearly they could have got someone with a bit of genuine ability to argue a case - Andy Burnham, Hilary Benn, Alan Johnson, Yvette Cooper, Liz Kendall - there are tons of Labour people infinitely more capable than her. And if they were trying to avoid 'red Tories' then Caroline Lucas from the Greens is always good on TV. Weak from Remain. I liked the Tory woman Rudd though. And Andrea on Leave side was good. Boris was poor again.
  6. Basically Eddie Howe does not fit the job spec. as far as I'm concerned. No European experience, no experience at the higher end of the top flights of European domestic football, no track record across multiple clubs. This is out best ever chance to appoint a genuine blue-chip manager. Don't throw it away Saints, don't throw it away.
  7. Yesterday's final two shortlist for Bolton job across all media including the BBC: Clotteril and Adkins. Moral of the story: shortlist schmortlist.
  8. No. It's a lovely myth that gets peddled out but at the time the Chancellor of the Exchequer and by extension the treasury were never convinced, therefore the government weren't convinced and it was never proposed to the country or to parliament.
  9. Great story.
  10. Bruce Arena?
  11. I'm writing him off now. Terrible.
  12. Such lovely hair.
  13. It's not really dragging on - he'll come back from holiday all ready to do the scarf over the head photograph and press conference at Goodison.
  14. I'm crossing to the dark side if we appoint him.
  15. No it was Rudi. Prompted me to Wikipedia him and then formally approve his appointment as Southampton manager.
  16. Please not Howe. Surprised to hear AVB and RDB are way down the list behind Howe and Pelligrini, they seem much more natural fits than those two. There's not going to be an appointment for at least a fortnight is there?
  17. The asset stripping begins.
  18. Like the home kit a lot (except I'd have white socks with red trim). Nice one.
  19. Not sure we know for sure do we? If RK was already on £2.5m then £3m would be what I'd expect was the ballpark for his extension and any replacement. The most interesting thing about that article is the what Lazio can offer - shows the power of the new TV deal for middling English clubs vs Italian and Spanish equivalents.
  20. I'm convinced Leave will win. If it rains everywhere on the day, they will definitely win.
  21. I believe he could link up very well with Matt Piper.
  22. The same sponsor as Sheffield Wednesday was quite frankly unforgivable.
  23. Unspectacular but would be a fine appointment - as cast iron a guarantee against relegation as you could get as a minimum (ie someone like De Boer could crash and burn) and would lead us comfortably into mid table or better - he has delivered top six-ish consistently. Perfect for a management redemption story. I wouldn't complain if we did appoint him - especially if it was between him or Eddie Howe.
