  1. I think you are the one 'framing' it.
  2. In fairness a charity is more like a retailer/service than a "wealth redistributor". Spending on charity is in its rawest form, is simply a lifestyle choice like going to Tesco or joining Bupa. Your purchase may help others but you are also purchasing your right to go on Web forums and talk about your charity donations you don't like to talk about. And you can bin it all off tomorrow. Not quite wealth redistribution.
  3. It's a simple case of fixing the credit card while the roof shines. Or something.
  4. We've done that. Just before you said "way to kill the thread guys".
  5. You also know perfectly well my post #244, which you quoted and you also understand what I was referring to. The topic of thread did have witnesses and did happen. It's why it isn't hearsay.
  6. The person running the investigation interviewed witnesses, the person the tree fell on, and the flaming tree itself. Kinda why it isn't hearsay. Apparently that's, like, a legal term and everything.
  7. Why is tax rate the only relevant metric? In the entire spectrum of fairness, that's your go-to measure as the "only" fair thing to do? Wouldn't the single most fair thing be if every single person had exactly the same income? Just as dopey as your suggestion.
  8. Apparently it did but it's all legally "hearsay" because someone on a football forum can't stand up in court and say it did. That's definitely what "hearsay" means.
  9. ...and the results of an investigation into that tree falling is published across every media outlet in Britain, then a tree has fallen down.
  10. This. Remember being baffled when at Villa Martin O'Neil threw away a Europa Quarter Final just to try and break the top 4 that season, which obviously they failed to do. Ended up back in the Europa again. I hope we go for it and are still in it come next March. And if we're 12th in the league then, so be it.
  11. http://m.liveleak.com/view?i=830_1429530314 Here's a nice one for all of us to apply our entrenched view to. Personally, I think the canvassers handled it badly and should have said "turn the camera off and let's talk". But that said those two aren't Paxman and having a cameraphone does not make your front door Newsnight. So their obvious concern at being filmed was the right reaction and getting away was the right thing. On balance I have more sympathy with the canvassers than a couple of Nathan Barleys waving a iPhone about.
  12. Not a real ale person then? Disappointing.
  13. It took me seven minutes to complete that joke. Nothing short of an outrage.
  14. fu ck is going on?
  15. I started a thread on this four hours ago and it still hasn't appeared. What the
  16. But not in your heart of hearts though. And I know you have a pretty black heart. And be fair, if you saw, say, those Pompey legends like Westwood, that kid from the top deck of the bus and that woman on the mobility scooter turn up to support Havant I think our friends on the other thread would describe them as tinpot. And they'd be right.
  17. You think the police would move a game from Eastleigh to the home ground of Pompey's most hated rivals? Seriously, they won't. Why on earth would they suddenly want to open the game up to a) X thousand additional Pompey fans and b) X thousand Lordswood, Millbrook and Sholing based brand new Eastleigh "fans". They'll have to play it at their place and work it out best they can. I imagine your average Portsmouth fan will look at Eastleigh like we look at Bournemouth. It's hardly the Istanbul derby, is it?
  18. Or the benefits of "fixing the roof when the sun shines".
  19. Not entirely sure why you have created this false argument of Europa vs Cup success being that typically one leads to the other anyway. You keep using Swansea as an example of how European football doesn't help clubs but they have done exactly what you want - win a cup, go into Europe. Being that we are out of both cups now, the most tangible way to progress the club right now is jump into the Europa League. Also would be fascinated by what you recommend Koeman and the players do for the rest of the season - conspire to lose five in a row to try and lock in 8th place? Not entirely sure that end to the season will bring about the JPT levels of euphoria you are hoping for. More like a hammer blow crushing anti-climax that would likely bleed into next year. Or, in your words, it would probably "damage the club". Or, we make Europa, and the vast, vast majority of Saints fans celebrate like mad. I know what I want.
  20. I've had that. Went down lovely.
  21. Well said Hypo, I agree with me here. Hilariously we have both OldNick and SOG both claiming it happens, neither have come up with any names between them. When I have SOG, OldNick, Wes, Whitey and Drunko all trying to take me on, I never think for a minute think they are the same person. Just myriad dinlows.
  22. You seem to be "having difficulty grasping" how Swansea qualified for Europe.
  23. Who are the "certain posters" then?
  24. I meant who else does it.
  25. Agree. Middlesbrough and Fulham both got to Europa finals. Who wouldn't want that for Saints? Swansea and Everton have clearly grown with their European experiences as you say. I think some can't quite reconcile themselves with the fact that we aren't on our way to the champions league and more than likely never, ever will be. So let's enjoy what we do achieve, because it's brilliant.
