  1. http://m.liveleak.com/view?i=830_1429530314 Here's a nice one for all of us to apply our entrenched view to. Personally, I think the canvassers handled it badly and should have said "turn the camera off and let's talk". But that said those two aren't Paxman and having a cameraphone does not make your front door Newsnight. So their obvious concern at being filmed was the right reaction and getting away was the right thing. On balance I have more sympathy with the canvassers than a couple of Nathan Barleys waving a iPhone about.
  2. Not a real ale person then? Disappointing.
  3. It took me seven minutes to complete that joke. Nothing short of an outrage.
  4. fu ck is going on?
  5. I started a thread on this four hours ago and it still hasn't appeared. What the
  6. But not in your heart of hearts though. And I know you have a pretty black heart. And be fair, if you saw, say, those Pompey legends like Westwood, that kid from the top deck of the bus and that woman on the mobility scooter turn up to support Havant I think our friends on the other thread would describe them as tinpot. And they'd be right.
  7. You think the police would move a game from Eastleigh to the home ground of Pompey's most hated rivals? Seriously, they won't. Why on earth would they suddenly want to open the game up to a) X thousand additional Pompey fans and b) X thousand Lordswood, Millbrook and Sholing based brand new Eastleigh "fans". They'll have to play it at their place and work it out best they can. I imagine your average Portsmouth fan will look at Eastleigh like we look at Bournemouth. It's hardly the Istanbul derby, is it?
  8. Or the benefits of "fixing the roof when the sun shines".
  9. Not entirely sure why you have created this false argument of Europa vs Cup success being that typically one leads to the other anyway. You keep using Swansea as an example of how European football doesn't help clubs but they have done exactly what you want - win a cup, go into Europe. Being that we are out of both cups now, the most tangible way to progress the club right now is jump into the Europa League. Also would be fascinated by what you recommend Koeman and the players do for the rest of the season - conspire to lose five in a row to try and lock in 8th place? Not entirely sure that end to the season will bring about the JPT levels of euphoria you are hoping for. More like a hammer blow crushing anti-climax that would likely bleed into next year. Or, in your words, it would probably "damage the club". Or, we make Europa, and the vast, vast majority of Saints fans celebrate like mad. I know what I want.
  10. I've had that. Went down lovely.
  11. Well said Hypo, I agree with me here. Hilariously we have both OldNick and SOG both claiming it happens, neither have come up with any names between them. When I have SOG, OldNick, Wes, Whitey and Drunko all trying to take me on, I never think for a minute think they are the same person. Just myriad dinlows.
  12. You seem to be "having difficulty grasping" how Swansea qualified for Europe.
  13. Who are the "certain posters" then?
  14. I meant who else does it.
  15. Agree. Middlesbrough and Fulham both got to Europa finals. Who wouldn't want that for Saints? Swansea and Everton have clearly grown with their European experiences as you say. I think some can't quite reconcile themselves with the fact that we aren't on our way to the champions league and more than likely never, ever will be. So let's enjoy what we do achieve, because it's brilliant.
  16. Who does it?
  17. Indeed. True Saints fans with "soul", like our club historian, seem to disagree with you though. Strange.
  18. "Might slightly help" he says. Not sure that makes you "more ambitious" than other fans. Liverpool remain a far better bet for the CL than us whatever happens for the rest of the season. Surely a European adventure to enjoy the adventure is ambition enough anyway. Certainly more ambitious than wanting to see players at another club not quite succeed as much as they could just for 10 seconds of gloating.
  19. You were never both logins at the same time anyway, right? The Brett from Camden stuff was funny though.
  20. Be interesting to see an example of this. Most of the multiple logins here seem to be comedy characters like Aziz.
  21. I never said that dickhead.
  22. Nah, in fairness to Wes he does have a point. Mainly driven by places like Wales/North East (Labour) with small/falling population density versus the South East (Tory) with the opposite. The proposals - Fewer MPs allowing for more even constituencies - would be fine and fairer. But I'd like to see PR at the same time. The point is that Cameron may rue the day he didn't get the boundary changes through when Lords reform fell over a couple of years ago.
  23. So if you get to write the history of Saints between 2014-16 you would rather devote eight or nine pages to the fact that Liverpool didn't win the FA Cup in 2015*, or would you rather write a chapter on our European campaign of 2015-16? Or is the next Hagiology title going to be "Who The F# ck Is Laughing Now - A Southampton FC History Of Moments We Got To See Ex-Players Fail At Their New Clubs and Stuff"? 304 pages of pure soul.
  24. That's beautiful. They still haven't hit rock bottom.
  25. How on earth anyone is torn on something like is baffling the hell out of me. European football would be something to look forward to all summer, a genuine achievement and a step forward for the club. And you're "torn" about preferring to have a two minute chortle at the manager and players of another club who have nothing to do with us? I'd happily see Liverpool win the cup 10 - nil if it got us what we want.
