Liverpool FC. Is it time to stop any further deals?
CB Fry replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
I really don't think the average football fan would have had the slightest shred of interest in reading about how a newly promoted team was interested in signing a Championship striker. Liverpool, on the other hand, are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Funnily enough they tend to get their every move analysed. Interesting how there are so many who pine after the "vision" of being top four, but seem incapable of understanding the kind of sh it that goes with that territory. Last summer there was an article or two about how Suarez might just be a good fit for Arsenal. This is the big league now. -
Get your Alpine bingo cards out. 200th sneering reference to having stripes back. Eyes down.

I was sneering.

You don't say.

Absolutely this. Crabby has fallen for the biggest crock of sh it in the world of football. The "poor me" footballer, all sad and unloved and upset because of "lack of communication". Boo hoo. Like some "communication" from the club is going to stop Lallana wanting £100k a week at Anfield. The only "communication" he wants is "yes, you can go, Adam". Hilarious Crab Lungs is accusing the rest of us of being "duped" by Les when he is totally taken in by the "honest I would have loved to have stayed but they are being so howwible to me" routine.

Personally am disappointed this hasn't been completed before the world cup starts (well, they have 14 hours). Arbitrary and meaningless deadline but I think they should have hit it really. Oh well. Keep waiting.

Us plundering the likes of Burnley for the players they develop is absolutely fine. Just football. It's only when we get plundered that it becomes how this is a disgrace what's the point of being a supporter it's all about the money these days greedy mercenary footballer scum what happened to loyalty this is all so unfair but by the way how much longer do I have to wait before I see Saints spending tens of millions of pounds on a new player or six this summer start spending now for the love of god sign someone for big money now now now. -
That's a heck of a lot of detail on someone who blatantly is not going to be our next manager. Can you do a dig into the career of Gerry Francis, now?
-
Forum gold today I see. Keep it up, chaps.

Ol' Swivel Eyes is back.

Not cynical but a ridiculous way of looking at it. If you have a top 5 targets and they all come forward, then that's pretty much what you want. I bet Malkay McKay and Owen Coyle came forward - should we have dropped everything and run to them?

How is that Argentina banner even remotely comparable to some of the Celtic fan base's support for the IRA? Two entirely disparate and utterly unrelated things, a clear theme on this thread. -
You do realise how much he upset Steven Gerrard fifteen years ago, don't you? Ergo, he's useless.
-
Osvaldo slightly different case to the other three, I'd say. A calculated gamble especially as our team manager knew him well. The other three show the risk of buying in potential - assuming that all young players are "young, hungry and bound to improve" when they might just turn out sh it.
-
That's all fine. I was saying no to the idea he is "up and coming". 14 years in management says he isn't. He is an established manager.
-
51 and seven jobs in three major European leagues, so no.
-
Just the youth v experience debate. Koeman has some failure on his CV but that's what happens if you've been a manager for a while. Yakin could build his reputation here like MP has. Koeman is more of a big name big personality. Either could succeed or fail. If they pull Tuchel out of the bag I'd be delighted. He's dropped off the radar amongst all the rumours surrounding Ranieri and Gerry Francis.
-
You would still do due diligence on Koeman, it would actually take longer as there is more to go through and more people to speak to. The "up and coming" bit is more curious, Yakin would qualify but it would certainly rule out Koeman, Ranieri, Benitez, Magath and Gerry Francis.

Can I be the first to complain about lack of communication from the club. I mean, it's been, like, two hours and no one has said anything to update us. Nothing short of a disgrace.
-
Quite. It's a strange old mutually exclusive world some folk on here live in. What seems to me like a nice touch is us sticking to our guns to sell no one else until we have the new man in. They will both still go, but it's a fine point of principle all the same.
-
You'll be back, soon enough, squinnying about how easy it is "in hindsight" just like you do on the countless times when you've been proved wrong, like the gutless tedious fool you are. Bring on the Steve Wigley standard manager.
-
I was looking forward to hearing about the ASSET STRIP and FIRE SALE and the club being PUT UP FOR SALE and the fact that we are recruiting a STEVE WIGLEY STANDARD MANAGER. Because the forum geniuses cannot possibly be wrong about all that stuff, surely?
-
We are not going to reveal names on the shortlist. Unless we have gone completely mental. He'll probably talk generically about "the process" though.

I've walked round the set of On Safari. True story. -
You clearly don't get the logic. That agent stuff increases the pressure on the board to do a deal, because it suggests RK is entirely open to the job, when the reality is (could be) that he only wants it at XXX wages and/or XXX transfer funds. It sends a nice message to the fans to say - look, I'm not stalling, not me. That is a pressure play. Not necessarily the greatest move but a move nonetheless. The agent's primary job is not necessarily to get RK one job or another job, just to get the best deal.
