We're not going to finish the season snapping at the heels of 5th and 6th. So, just to confirm, a cup final is written off as "just one day" but you then finish off by creating some fairytale scenario of beating Man United in the last minute of the last game of the season. Which, and correct me if I'm wrong here, sounds suspiciously like "just one day" as well. So, what's your point?

I never thought we would win the cup. We were, however, a ruddy good bet for a Wembley semi and even a Wembley final. In itself a worthy end to an excellent season. And a more honourable exit than today's abomination. Still, some players had a lovely rest to prepare them for whatever it is that is so important from here until May.

Personally, as long as the players get lots of rest then for me competing for trophies is not really important any more. I now understand the point of modern football.
