I wonder what Pap's mates will make of that abuse? I bet they just love him recounting his forum encounters down at the drive-thru.

If someone started talking to me about what someone said to me on a football web forum, I'd burst out laughing too.

Remarkable passionate defence of the Daily Mail and journalists in general (and arepolitical sketch writers of all things) from Wes Tender on this thread. Which is odd because the rest of the time he's falling over himself to be pious and pompous around his default position that all newspapers make everything up and are lying scumbags all day long. A tremendous volte-face which in no way makes Wes Tender look like a clueless bandwagon jumping hypocritical moron. In no way.

Err...Turkish never said he was a"a great player". And your opinion was that Dyer was better, that is what is being discussed. Nice attempt at a sidestep though.

This is about your fifth identical "this is the same as Maggie" reference in this one thread. Unless you think Ralph Milliband, as the towering political figure of the age, deserved a full ceremonial funeral with full military honours, then it really ain't the same. Ralph Milliband is in the paper because of who his son is now, not actually due to any social change he brought about. Which is zero social change. Because he was a freaking historian and lecturer. Not a three term prime minister. I look forward to you saying "its just like Maggie innit" yet again on this thread in about three hours time.

It's Whelk's little "thing". He's, like, the master of irony on all things Lawro v Saints. He's the puppet master of this whole topic, and a comedy king to boot. Ain't he funny, though?

If we'd have bought Jack Butland for six million quid last year, he'd definitely be worth £25m now. Definitely. What a missed opportunity.

Seriously? This is a westminster/media bubble story if ever there was. Twitter screeching is not the mood of the public. I'm not defending the Mail but it just isn't that big. Forgotten by next week.

Dacre's just signed a new contract. He won't go on this. It's pretty trivial. It's not phone hacking.

Nicola Cortese. Stu Francis. Dame Ellen MacArthur. Roald Dahl. Nigella.

Fastest sellling programmes ever.

I do love the way that, in some people's minds, Ralph Milliband has morphed into a towering political figure of the age, on a par with one of the most successful prime ministers of all time. I am now disgusted that Ralph Milliband - you remember him, that really famous politician - didn't have a ceremonial funeral with full military honours. Cause he was, like, so influential on all our lives.

Four years ago we nearly went out of business forever FFS etc.

Not really. There is a level we can get to in our wildest dreams that the likes of Chelsea can beat easily.

If he continues to develop at the rate he is there is no way he'll be here in five years. Try two, maximum.

You do realise Thatcher was a hate figure for certain types for decades before she died? Whatever the rights/wrongs of this, it is completely incomparable to Thatcher.

...oh, and think there is no chance he'll leave in January. We can flatly refuse suitors and Shaw for a month. Summer is a different story.
-
Correct, and by next summer he probably will. He'll have done all he could at Saints and he'll have options for genuine CL clubs. There is a chance that the Don gets a Ronaldo/Beckham/Bale "one more season" out of him but I think it more likely he'll go.
-
I believe it. Why, only the other day I was in the town of Juventus and a very similar thing happened. Although I had more beer than Phil because I am like wild and crazy.

Don't worry, someone will be along in a minute to say "so I suppose you'd prefer to have Lowe back, then." And, of course, the old classic: "we almost never had a club to support at all" Solid gold.

What are you talking about apart from again equating money spent with quality of team? Whoever wins the title this season (in this appartent new golden age of premium quality mega-football) will not be anywhere near as good as Arsenals invinsibles side from 2003/4. But yeah, the clubs all spend more money these days so it's loads better. Especially as we have replaced the dross like Wolves and Middleborough with the new age of ubergiant super clubs like Cardiff, Swansea, Hull City and Norwich. Truly a golden age in a league greater than it has ever been.

How on earth could he have "built a squad" at Newcastle in the few months he was there? He did okay there but remember Toon fans booed Bobby Robson and walked out on their lap of honour when they "only" finished fifth in the Prem. They had plenty of ideas above their station then.
-
Basically agreeing with me then. Not a massive leap forward in quality in the top eight now compared to 2004. Laughable people thing everything is so much better now. It isn't. Just wages have gone up is all.
