If we had sold Surman, Davies and or Lallana then the likes of you would be screaming blue murder about how Lowe had sold our best players, ripped the heart out of the team etc etc etc. Or are you saying that we could survive just as well without Kelvin and Drew and co? They're just players, we're rubbish and they are all replaceable? You're beginning to sound like some evil money obsessed chairman..... In the hysterics wing of this forum there is so much having your cake and eating it going on its untrue. "We have no best players" I'd love to see the reaction if it was Lowe coming out and saying that as a justification for selling them.
-
You seem to think you're asking tricky questions, but all the answers are obvious and available - Pearson was jack sh it to do with money, we could have easily afforded him, it was about Lowe's dopey revolution. The loaning out of players was money related, because we are skint. Things aren't "so rosy" and I don't think anyone is saying they are. The only back tracking going is from the hystericals on the forum that decide that "Lowe sells everything that moves" "Lowe will cash in Lallana/Suman/Davies/everyone as soon as you can blink" and so on. Very few of those that are labeled Luvvies said we wouldn't sell players, but plenty of the loons said we would sell every member of the first team. And its them that are wrong. The truth is slightly more complicated than some on here can handle. But still, roll up for the new evil-Lowe-conspiracy theories - I'm loving the one that us not selling players is even stronger evidence we're going into administration!!! (Would the same people be saying "this is evidence of our financial security" if we'd sold five players this month? Unlikely....)
-
So what exactly was your opinion of Zoltan Liptak this time yesterday? Did you think he was a good player and would make a brilliant addition to the squad? If he'd signed for Sheff Utd today would you be on here saying what a cracking signing they'd made? Or......had you never heard of him? I don't get the mindset that just because we sign a player he instantly becomes a world beater. He was loaned out to, and couldn't get a game for, Stevenage Boro, LAST SEASON. Sorry for not dancing round the kitchen at this signing. If he isn't good enough for Stevenage Boro, or Southend, or Huddersfield then chances are he just might not be all that.
-
Funny Hertha could have tied up the transfer of this player they so desperately wanted long before Lowe even came back to power at Saints, i.e. before Skacel went off to Euro 2008 and dazzled the continent with his commitment, skills and workrate alerting all the major clubs in Europe to his red hot availability. Why didn't they do that? After all, the previous "non-evil" regime would have let them have Skacel for free, right?
-
I'm sure there is another side to the Rudi story that doens't quite blame Lowe for every single thing. And I am sure if we let Rudi go for nothing you'd be slating Lowe for that too. You seem to be advocating our chairman give our players away for nothing and let them decide the exact terms of their departure? Right? Wotton not playing cannot possibly be for the same reasons as Euell and co, not least because he was signed by/for the "revolutionary" management team.
-
Well, we do always need a fresh supply of sticks to beat our man with. Our chairman is a **** because he failed to sell anyone could be the stick de nous jours and no doubt Richmond and friends will be weilding it shortly! That's not to say you're not right - the bank will look at the last month as an opportunity to bring in a million or two and/or cut the wage bill and frankly on those criteria we've failed.
-
I like the Steve Tilson was "desperate to sign him" quote on Wiki. So desperate he never played a game as was shipped out to non league soon after! We can't half pick em!
-
He he. Just to confirm to all that was SR's quote and not mine. It's funny how fantastic our players are to the hysterics like SR when they think they are going to be sold. I wonder if he thinks they are so fantastic now they all look like they are staying - it's almost like Lowe has let his manager(s) (!) build a team..... Oh, and I see we've just signed someone else at the stroke of the deadline........! What money troubles..?
-
Can someone please explain why you were ranting, raving and whining about all our players being sold more than one month before the transfer window even opened and then followed that up with eight weeks of moaning about how ridiculous it was to have a fire sale of all our best players and how Lowe would sell every single player at the first opportunity and blah, blah frigging blah.......on and on with lots...... of............ dots.......... every....w.....h.....e..........r........e And these really annoying things too  Well, I can explain. You're a dopey twonk. What's that sound? Oh, it's Saint Richmond's tiny world caving in. What a despicable fire sale that turned out to be, then   I really cannot wait for your spin on this story. I give it half an hour before you weave this comparitively pretty good transfer window for us into being part of some dastardly evil Lowe masterplan you've cooked up in your head. Go............on..................start.......weaving..............   PS - Don't come the "you love Lowe" routine either. I don't love Lowe, but I do think you waste too much time making up stuff that doesn't happen and then getting upset about stuff that might not will not and/or did not happen. So you are fair game for a darn good laughing at.

Linked with Charlton as well. If we assume he isn't keen on moving to Lancashire, he may decide to stay south with us or them. Can't imagine there will be much of a financial incentive between the three of us. Preston is a long drive in the snow.
-
Can't anyone keep their powder dry on this forum? There could be cause for some serious I-told-you-so-ing, but I'm waiting until gone 5pm before I start dishing it out. Anything could happen in twenty minutes.
-
He's bummed about far too many clubs making no great impact far too much for someone so young. Losing zero sleep over this one.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/swansea-city-fc/2009/02/01/saints-plan-to-keep-swans-loan-start-dyer-91466-22827588/ To be fair he doesn't say he's going to recall him, just not sell him to Swansea and start again next season. We probably can't recall him now.

Hang on, I didn't realise clubs had crystal balls when they arranged loans. When we loaned Rasiak to Watford they were not expected to be relegation rivals. And the other point is Watford had parachute cash and we didn't, we didn't have any cash. And the third point Saints saying we're "aiming for the playoffs" did not mean we couldn't loan any players out and in the case of Rasiak it looks like we had no financial choice but to. And being that Rasiak proved last season not to be good enough for the Prem at Bolton, a CCC club was his only likely destination. So stop being so silly. Watford were not "relegation rivals" when we loaned Rasiak to them. It is not in any way comparable to us selling or loaning Surman to Forest, which would be stupid.
-
Saints v Brum was the main game second week of the season, and we are the main game as much as our status of nowheresville in the title/play off race merits - ie hardly ever. We were main game about five times last season, though, and will be main game a few times season-to-go as we will be in a few relegation dogfights.
-
What a load of tosh. Lowe's objective when he came back was to get to the Premier League, but get to the Premier League "his way". Whether or not any of us think "his way" is right or not is neither here nor there*. He didn't come back to take us to League one "on purpose" or "to spite the fans". You can't have it both ways - either all he cares about is money or not. The Premier League is where the money is and League one is where no money is. *Obviously his way is utter nonsense, so don't try any cheap shots with me.

The official Rudi Skacel departure announcement SWEEPSTAKE!

Still time to enter the sweepstake, as he's still here..... -
No, the expectation was that Watford have parachute money, and we didn't. Anyway, you can't have it both ways. Either Watford were a "relegation rival" when we let Rasiak go there, or they weren't. PS. The answer is they weren't.

Demonstration for Swansea game- Time and place!!
CB Fry replied to scott_saints's topic in The Saints
From what I have seen of this, it looks like an absolute triumph. Brilliant turn out, great media coverage - another snapshot on SSN just now. And no trouble and a focused message excellently delivered. Well done to everyone involved in organising this - great stuff, makes me proud to be a Saints fan. -
Watford weren't expected to be our relegation rivals when we loaned Rasiak to them. Surman to Forest is probably unlikely at best. Reading would be a fair more logical destination.
-
A draw wil still be two points dropped. A team winning one game at home all season at the end of January is a team going down. We really need to win.
-
3-0. This is not good. I'm worried Adams will get the boot too soon, be replaced by someone like Curbishley who then keeps them up. We need Adams to scrape a few draws to keep him in the job, and then royally f u ck it up in March and April. Any half decent manager should be able to keep that squad in the division. It's going to take some effort from Adams to relegate them.
-
This is all absolutely fair enough. You're playing devils avocado to my playing devil's avocado earlier, to be honest. My angle is coming from a few posters who talk about Rudi Skacel like he is an under nourished six year old Victorian chimney sweep. You can't move for bleating about how awfully he's been treated. If he was so desperate to play and desperate to give his all for a club that loved him, then he could have gone in the summer. But those are just his surface priorities. Of course he is well in his rights to sieze every penny in his contract, and of course he is well in his rights to dress this action up as a "I love this club so much, but noone loves me" routine. I just wish some fans weren't so dopey to swallow it hook line and sinker, especially as those same fans scream "Ruperts propaganda machine!!!!" when the OS dares to say something as anodyne like "an afternoon in corporate hospitality might be a good present for someone" or "our new signing is a good player and is looking forward to playing for us".

The official Rudi Skacel departure announcement SWEEPSTAKE!
CB Fry replied to CB Fry's topic in The Saints
That thread really needs someone posting HCDAJFU on it. -
As the man who started the original Skacel sweepstake (also, the original Saints forum sweepstake, what a claim ) I think it only fitting that we mark his departure likewise. Being that we only have a couple of days left, the rules are nice and loose. Pick a day over the next three days (window closes at 5pm on Monday). Pick an hour of the day with that person owning the full hour until 59 mins. And to make it multi lateral, pick a club. I'm not updating a list this time, we'll just go by the posts. Winner is nearest the pin on the day and time and club choice is for a bonus prize*. Time and date is when it is published on the OS (Unreliable I know). My guess is Sunday, 11am, AEK Athens The winner's prize is to be officially named a preferred creditor of Southampton Leisure Holdings once administration is announced on Tuesday at 3p in the pound, and I can personally guarantee you will get your money before those scabs from the St John's Ambulance get their noses in the trough. *Bonus prize is a picture of a train.
