I don't think it's stalling at all! The player is away - half the football world is on holiday at the moment, which is why so few signings get done in late May or early June. As for Hooper, while I would like him to join, I suspect NA has given up on him. Hooper and his Dad (his agent) know full well we want him, have done so for months and have had plenty of chance to respond positively. They have not done so, so that one looks dead

Newcastle pretty well sorted for strikers surely? Everton are broke - well, maybe not broke, but certainly not able to splash another £6m+ on a striker.

Hooper thinks he is underpaid (and from what I hear, he is). Wants a deal to get him to a sensible level. He is very interested in playing in the Prem - and is attracted by being back in England for recognition, etc. But he is also happy at Celtic where clearly things are going well for him, so it may well boil down to what they can offer. We already told his Dad (agent) what wages we would pay back in January. The contract talks are being pushed very hard by Celtic, as they have to hold onto him if they want to progress

This may be all down to NC being odd / arrogant / hugely sure of himself / not used to ever being wrong. NA seems completely different to this so it's quite possible they don't hit it off as mates, but they can still work together ok and be successful. Given that NC does seem to wind people up here and there, this story may be 2 + 2 = 7 and nothing more.
