  1. Any evidence at all of this "conning"? Very common practice for an insolvency practitioner faced with a business which has zero cash to keep going, but should still be saleable, to find any source of funds - be that a quick disposal of an asset, a major customer who can pay today for a discount, or a benevolent director or shareholder who can help out. Its his job and his duty to act for creditors. I have seen nothing to suggest, then or now, the LC did this anything but entirely willingly (to his credit)
  2. should i really care what Cortese might be trying to do? or what is actually happening at SFC in terms of preparation for the season and then progress during it? I will go to games depending on a couple of factors (no ST as cant get to Soton often enough to make it work) but none of these are based on what Cortese might be trying to do. if that makes me simple, so be it
  3. several threads on this - just how bored are we all. roll on a transfer or something
  4. He would have to take a pay cut. And find the form he had in previous seasons, not the last one he had with us or the one he has just had. So much as the idea sounds good in an ideal world, for these reasons its a bad idea sadly and I doubt it will happen
  5. He might have been celebrating having a nice meal in a good restaurant with some decent female company. Not much of story though, sorry
  6. Think his transfer and wages would be ok. But worried that his desire to have the rest of the squad to learn Catalan as a signing on fee might be just out of reach
  7. Not disputing the thrust of what you say, but I am willing to bet my piggy bank (I havent checked either) that a lot of points were won, particularly in the fantastic Oct / Nov run, with the help of the players added after the season started
  8. If we had got more points from the first 10 games, then AP would not have summised that we needed to add a lot more quality than we had at that time, and so would not have kept adding so many (better) players to the squad. Possible result? We would not have had such fantastic runs of results later on. Just a thought
  9. Not sure it was the best moment, but otherwise agree. I said we had signed him to a Millwall fan mate of mine and his reaction / expletives / green eyed jealousy confirmed to me that we had truly made a top signing
  10. Probably. why do you ask? whatever happens next season, things will be different. this thread = been done / being done elsewhere to death
  11. I did these plus Northampton in the Cup. Thank **** I did Orient as well. Must pick better next year, bring it on
  12. The list of similarities with Norwich:...we are both in League One this season. Not even going to bother explaning this to you but safe to say its a nuts comparison
  13. Dont think goal scoring is a problem. It was in the first 10-12 games (while we got Lambert, and then got him fit, and added Connolly). But since then it has been our strength. We just need to play like that in the first 12 games as well
  14. I have no inside knowledge at all. But I would guess that a deal is quite likely but is on hold, as any new owner rightly wants to know what league he is in before working out a price and a business plan
  15. I got a train from Maidenhead with plenty of space at the leisurely time of 9.30. The two of us met two other Saints in the ticket office - a pleasant surprise. Got to the platform and found 5 Carlisle fans there! Stopped at the Marlylebone Sports Bar and then got the overland train at 12.15. Despite the time this also had space and I was at the ground for 12.30. Afterwards, I took my time to enjoy the celebrations and did not rush back - but again found the train back to Marylebone was waiting there, with decent space left, so we headed off for more beers in a great mood. Well done Chiltern Trains - consistently a decent train Co. Obviously we were helped by not living in Southampton for once, but still well organised travel
  16. Only just able to type. Brilliant day, never to be forgotten. Thanks to everyone at Saints! ok minor moan. Would have liked more (any) singing before we got to 3-0. It was a cup final FFS and I was surrounded by silent hordes. But we won so who cares!
  17. Booked? I did not realise we have such a massive contingent coming from Berkshire. Best get myself on to one of those packed trains sharpish!
  18. BBC now reporting that HMRC are happy too http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8562107.stm
  19. Goal at Chelsea will linger for me too, but have watched the goal against Pompey many many times. LOL at Redkrapp moaning at the press conference afterwards !
  20. Hate them both so would not be very popular there
  21. Any 3rd party can pay anyone else's debts in any situation if they want to (you are welcome to pay mine!) - you cant stop this. Other creditors would not be disadvantaged if the PL "stand in the shoes" of HMRC, i.e. they claim the same amount and then take their chances of getting a dividend, as the total claims will be the same. But yes, Administration is designed to get the best outcome for all creditors, so just because one gets paid it does not end the Administration at that point.
  22. Camara if only for the last minute against Norwich 4-3 Dowie coz he was popular, not coz he was brilliant
  23. wasnt there a guy called Pahars?
  24. Now you are pushing it! Wycombe is not really very close to Wembley and is not very near Legoland either, as well as being, well, Wycombe. You cant make a sales push on a discussion forum and then complain when someone says its not attractive!
  25. In a normal (non football club) business, the answer is almost always that they will get less back of what they are owed now, and no future revenue. They dont get first dibs, they have the same priority as before, its just the business and its assets are worth a lot less. But I have already posted earlier why HMRC would consider this the right course of action sometimes. But with the weird and wonderful Football priority creditor rule, I do wonder if there is another advantage (it has not happened before). It is well known that HMRC hate this rule. If a club is liquidated, it ceases trading immediately and so could never fulfill its fixures anyway. If that happens, then where is the incentive to comply with this archaic rule: the League say that you cannot have your place in the league next season if you dont comply. Would HMRC finally challenge this rule if PFC ceased to trade? Hmmmm
