Agreed, same happened with Jay Rod. It's a lot of money for us but we have to be patient - Adam and Adams are the starting goal threat for us now, with Broja and Tella in backup. I don't know why we gave Long a two year contract extension, surely he will see it out entirely on loan.

Very bandwagon, very modern art. Not my thing but as it's weird enough to fit in at the Tate Modern, hopefully each shirt is priced at £1M so that our marketing team can close the #commercialincomegap on all the other teams in our league.

What the f**k is going on. Done with this rabble

Matty Targett to Villa, Jay Rod to West Brom, Jose Fonte to West Ham, Jack Cork to Swansea. You see, we just can't hold onto our best players. -

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/9127925.southampton-fans-return-season-tickets-due-to-car-parking-change-at-st-marys-stadium/ I think they had a point to be fair, although the 'concerned local citizen' photoshoot never fails to amuse me. I wonder if they are still boycotting. -
Are you talking about Harry Kane, England's best striker, having spent years with the National Team watching his team-mates at Chelsea, Liverpool and City win trophy after trophy while he prepares for a season hoping to qualify for Europa League via the third-rate Europa Conference? If those are ideas above his station, then what is his station? Funny how the penny's finally dropping for Spurs supporters today. They seem to be the last to realise he's gone.

True - and for a more recent example see also Oriel Romeu. Decent value for money at £5M.
-
I know what you mean. I personally get very annoyed that despite bragging about it, we never seem to do any actual marching.
-
I expect some of the broken-record gang on here would still like to accept Watford's £10M offer from that time.
-
Behave. I'm told they are excellent at conducting research.
-
Quite. In an internet full of gullibility, bullshit, misinformation and 'doing your own research', I still find it amazing that this needs to be said. Some people just cannot distinguish between truth and blatant defamation. From recollection the baby was actually born well and only later succumbed to health issues some days or weeks later. At one point the mother was ranting about suing the hospital over medical negligence instead. It is one thing suffering a bereavement and then there is lashing out in search of a scapegoat. The offending Twitter account is now deleted, I presume due to a well-worded legal letter. But yeah, sure, maybe Southampton the media and the deep state really have been colluding together on a massive cover-up for a young player on the periphery of the squad.

Nice to see you getting your excuses in early, Ralph.

The Saintsweb guide to transfer strategy
Ted Bates Statue replied to Ex Lion Tamer's topic in The Saints
I'm fond the once-ubiquitous catchphrase "Could he do a job for us?" which I recall applied to any player coming to the end of his contract when we were in the lower leagues. Probably the Paul Allen thread too. Apparently it even made it into an FBI glossary, impressive considering I don't believe anyone else used it outside the online Saints community. -
I think the club felt he was a better prospect than Targett, shame it didn't work out - we could have done with someone like him pushing Bertrand for his starting place in the last four years or so. I suspect however that given the contract length, the deal is intended to tide him over while he seeks another club in the professional game.

I'm still seething that we let Nile Ranger slip through our fingers. When will Saints learn to hold onto their brightest talents?
-
What about if we were to get relegated, sneak into the playoffs and score more goals away than at home but still go out on penalties... 😔 MLG Note: *Not Europe, whatever I sorry I ruined the party
-
I think Hampshire Live has been pushing at least one version of a story (paragraph) that he has already signed a contract extension, possibly as long ago as last year but Saints are open to offers for him. The last bit was what stood out, why would you tie down someone but also say they would be open to a transfer? I guess the answer is when you have a decent option for 3rd or 4th choice CB but that option would prefer to play a little more regularly.

Everyone moans when a certain poster does pedantry, but clearly all you need is some loose hyperbole, and suddenly all the forum experts crawl out of their caves to smugly point out that the day before Wednesday was Tuesday.
-
So if he does go, this tweet has probably helped add an extra £10M to his transfer fee. 👍

Agreed, hopefully the club have learned from past mistakes such as the Wallace brothers or Michael and Anders Svensson.

Exciting young Saints players who have not made the grade

And yet still managed to score against us and take his side further in Europa than we've managed in the same time. 😬 Matt Mills is another name who springs to mind from that era. Retired as of last year having played for a variety of Football League clubs. -

Ctrl-F... "Tim Sparv" -
I thought I was the only one who didn't like the 2006-08 kit. Thanks to the massive horizontal white panel I could never get over the idea that the team were wearing a weird version of the Swiss flag. The response on here/Saintsforever seemed strangely very positive, as I recall.

Something a bit different to the usual Youtube highlights offering set to some rubbish soundtrack. And no, he is not good in the air.

Must have been a tough call between him and Jankewitz.

How about we finally get around to replacing Graziano Pelle with... a certain free agent named Graziano Pelle. HCDAJFU 😇
