The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Dr Who? replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
When Labour were voted in they had an open goal, with such an incompetent Tory government that they took over from, but they have royally a Ronnie Rosenthal’ed it! They have completely forgotten their roots and their core voters and I cannot see them lasting the full term. A prime example is the exiting deputy of the Labour Party. Representing her constituents in Manchester, where she has a connecting with what they are going through, and how hard life, like her’s was in the area, well until she had money, and then she fecked off to the south coast and got herself a lovely little property! Then still looked to save a little bit more money. She as the Labour Party have and are screwing up a wonderful opportunity that they had to try and put things right, for the working classes, and all they have done is shat on them! -
I think Robinson will go to a bigger club than Everton when he leaves Saints. In terms of winning something.

I loved games v the skates, but I also hate the fact that all form (not that we have any) goes out of the window, and pretty much anything can happen on the day. So pretty much like a normal championship match in that case. 🤔 I would hate to call this one if I am honest, but I do think they will be right into us at the start and we are not that sort of team, with our fancy wingers. One step over and they will get smashed. I fear but think another draw 1-1

Love the way Wrexham just spend spend spend, and just release, release, release. A real sustainable model of billionaires! When the bubble bursts on their computer game model, it going to burst big time!

We are definatly making some signings that are promising on paper and face value Does reminded me of a comedy scetch a bit, along the lines of playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order. Making good signings of player quality but not necessarily in the right positions. 👍

Seems to be getting more wrong than right. This is a terrible start to the season. Don’t care about any of the other title favourites and how they are doing. We are one of the richest clubs in the championship, and we do not have a core of a team! Look at our double promotion team, they were strong through the middle. Even last promotion was a little better, but not great. Need to sort it out before the window, we have the resources.

Disappointing management from the dugout and on the pitch Disappointing defending Disappointing Goalkeeping Disappointing Finishing from open play again. Disappointing 5 at the back. I think we still need at number 1, a real ball winner midfielder, hard man, as we are very lightweight still. Probably need a proper centre back and main striker. In other words we are still very short of a promotion ‘team’. We have brought in some more flair players, but we need to toughen up through the middle of the team, as our core is very weak and that is worrying. You should have these players in place to be successful. I fear we will be bullied into defeat in 2 weeks, unless we action these weak areas. I have done my coaching badge. You need a strong keeper, centre defender, central midfielder ball winner and centre forward who is going to bag you 15 goal upwards. We just like trying to fix things with fancy players. We have no excuses, we have the money and we need to fix these shortcoming now! when does the window close?

Pulling hair again?

Yeah I suppose he has got the players through the door. Not bad business really. To get these players from clubs that are rivals for promotion really does send out a statement of intent!

Let’s see how it plays out on the pitch. I am excited about the signings, but I will wait, as the top 2 is a must!

Couple of hour trip for me, but not going cannot be arsed with premier league teams!
-
Barnsley, Burnley, Huddersfield, Grimsby, Bradford, or Wigan, away please. would like Barnsley as I have never been to Oakwell.
-
Can we get anyone now or is it still divided north and south? sorry just read the initial thread post.

I think the 5-0 half time will be the end for him again, just like in the Spurs game with us. Did he go down the tunnel this time and think it was 3-0 at half time? 😂

Good job this was not womens football as it would be all over social media how poor it is! All in slow motion.
-
I think we are all forgetting the first 42 minutes until the goal out of the blue, but perhaps just perhaps that winning games gives us our mojo. Let’s face it we have only been in the lead against a team in the championship for less than a minute. I think we are still very fragile from our bruising Premier League campaign, but we just got better and better in this game, you could see the confidence returning. Downes and Wood were terrible, and Downes has been terrible all season, so Laboured and seems not bothered. Oh well, we will see how we line up on Saturday and then the real test will start again.

Just need to get him to #gingerpoch

Makes up the numbers.

This worked brilliantly during our double promotion seasons, but we had the personal to execute it!

The journey home just made me grumpy as well. I thought it was very poor. Also it will be my only home game of the season with my 13 year old, so want it to be good, to make a statement to the rest of the league, and we did not show up. We were not sharp enough or on our game. Lose that game in 2 weeks and the natives will turn.

That was an awful and so disjointed performance. It was like the players had never met. Slinging balls into the box straight to the keeper and on other occasions like the players had their eyes closed while crossing the ball. There was no technique or accuracy at all. The passing was sluggish, slow and again way off the mark, and there was not any fight. Ok we have time to sort this mess of a team out, but if we play the skates like that they rip into us. I fear that game at the moment. I was so pee’d off on the 7 hour journey home to Carlisle, not that we lost as I knew Stoke were high on confidence and well organised, but how we failed to turn up for a home game, and 30 minutes against 10 men. Absolutely clueless, headless chickens. Saying this the team were set up to fail with 5 at the back and only 1 up front at home as one of favourites for the league is criminal. Drop your data and stats and just man manage your team with what you see week in week out in training, this is real life football, not a computer game. You should have seen some of the puffed out chests and swaggers of the Stoke fans as they walked around the services on the way back to Carlisle. Annoying, but fair play to them, we would be the same in their position… intolerable! I do think they need to make the most of it as they will drop away, but as I have said confidence is a massive thing in football, as is togetherness as a club, and Robins brings that to Stoke, and we are way off at the moment.
-
When I got my tickets for this, I thought it would be pretty much as much of a home banker you could wish for. Stoke City in on a downward spiral and us being one of the favourites for the title. Now I’m not so sure. We seem a bit disjointed and Stoke are top of the league and their confidence will be sky high.

But when I bet it never comes in. Yesterday I was at the Carlisle game, and when they were 3-1 up with 15 minutes left I said to my boy, Carlisle are sitting back I can see this causing problems (because they cannot defend). I said I can see this being 3-3. Also when Boreham Wood got back to 3-2, the scoreboard came up with 3-3. 😂. if I had bet on it, neither of these would have happened, even though they did!
