Surprised at the criticism of Cork. Who crossed for Lambert's goal v Leeds?
-
Makes sense.

Fri 13th - on TV

Opportunity taken.

Derby don't seem to be offering much; an opportunity to boost our GD.

jos the boss

Perhaps because Schneiderlin often passes the ball forward and Hammond only passes sideways or backwards.
-
Hope it's not a part-exchange deal

'Past behaviour is a good guide to future performance' - or - 'anyone can change and make the most of a second chance'. You pay your money and take your pick. For me, I hope it is the latter as I would rather see Puncheon come off the bench than Holmes or Falque.

What did we learn tonight? What we have known for a while:- 1. If Lambert is out of the team we have not got a like-for-like replacement 2. Guly can have brilliant moments, but most of the time his first touch is poor 3. Chaplow's injury was the start of the downturn in our form 4. Lee Holmes is not good enough - had a chance to shine tonight and fluffed a clear goal-scoring chance 5. If the opposition close us down quickly high up the pitch, we can't get a passing game going and build pressure 6. Lambert, Lallana and Fonte are our key players 7. We need re-inforcements in this transfer window

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

Correct, Cliftonville is a club in North Belfast. Donnelly is a bit special and has scored some cracking goals - he will do well for Swansea. -
Saints games/moments you couldn't bear to watch..

Mark Wright breaking his leg v Liverpool at White Hart Lane. Was behind the goal and saw and heard it - dreadful. -
A question for the mods about this main board
ulstersaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
It is nothing to do with Alpine living far from SMS - as some of us reluctantly do - but simply his negative disposition and confrontational manner. Post 31 has provided ample evidence (from quotes from Alpine's own posts), that Alps is habitually negative in his opinions and is reluctant to accept that any alternative opinion might have some validity. Nothing - including this thread - is going to change Alpine. Only he can do that. -
Not reasoning - fact.

The last loan /signing from Celtic turned out great. Trust Nigel.

20 pages for a player we have not signed yet; is this a record?

Howard Scores for Everton - Saints Question
ulstersaint replied to Seaford Saint's topic in The Saints
I was on my way out at 1-4 and heard the crowd groan. Asked Dad who scored for Leicester and he said Shilton - I thought he was having me on until we got to the car and it was a lead item on Sports Report. I seem to recall that Pat Jennings also scored around the same time. -
He looks a bit like Park from ManU - hope he plays like him, too.

Fonte is class - very consistent and rarely makes an error. And a great partnership (at last) with Joss, IMO the best since since Claus and Killer.

Dave Merrrington is a good reader of the game and many times this season has lamented our lack of width and insistence of playing through the middle. And today v 10 men DM made the point that we should have played 4 across midfield to keep Brighton at bay and one (not 2) up front - we didn't and suffered the consequence of conceding more goals. Makes sense to me and proves that a big bit of the game is getting tactics right.

Was it battered skate? That would be an omen.
