Just thought this was worthy of repeating as it shows a remarkable insight... You think we won't get promoted, very little chance of making the playoffs but you wouldn't be surprised if we were playing each other next season... You must have known you're heading straight to League One... Still rather be in your shoes than ours? I think not...

The point here is that a precedent could be set, if they have given a club money in advance... All of a sudden clubs now have grounds for appeals, money in advance and because Pompey are claiming not to be insolvent the Premier League can't really say no to any club asking for money in advance... That also sets up clubs that have been relegated to look at the "Carlos Tevez" scenario. Does the FA's intervention equate to Tevez's goals for West Ham, could the clubs relegated this season sue the Premier League? Could the club's who don't benefit from Pompey's demise sue the league? If Chelsea don't win the league, and if the points they would have got back would have won them the title, would they sue? A whole can of worms could be opened and the whole integrity of the Premier League is at stake.

7 days eh? Saw a club on Monday, it owed money on Tuesday, it was winding up by Wednesday, and on Thursday & Friday & Saturday we laughed on Sunday....

Interesting reports on Sky.... Why is it we're hearing soundbites from Skates about this passionate fanbase and yet for the two cup games they had 6-8,000 empty seats and last night had what, 2,000 empty seats? Avram Grant boasting about hundreds of thousands of people supporting Pompey and yet they can't fill their ground when they know need money to just pay the wages... Sorry, but I can't feel any sympathy for a club that can't pay it's tax bill, can't pay it's staffs wages but can fly it's players up north and overnight at a 5 star hotel... Oh, and surely if Pompey are given leeway then so must Southend and Cardiff..

What is still scary is they still live in a fantasy world... This gem from Brendan Bone: "However, Brendon Bone, of supporters' group SOS Pompey, told BBC Sport: "The talk about potential new buyers is all hearsay. We are hearing nothing but noise about selling on the club from the new owner, but if he does sell it on we hope he sells it to a football man. "If all else fails at Portsmouth, Fratton Park can only be used for football, and we'd hope the council will take it over as a community club. Balram Chainrai, Chainrai (centre) is looking to sell the club quickly "HMRC want to get their money, and if they wind up the club, they won't get it. I think there are pretty good chances of an adjournment. " Fratton can't be pulled down and turned into flats? Customs can't get a slice of that? A bit of perspective please... If HMRC see that they'd probably shut them down out of spite...

The same way they preach they're a big club when they get crowds of 10,315 for a home cup game, knowing they need money just to pay the wages... The delusion is just mind blowing...

First payment and by January? lol So the way the Premier league pays its money is £7m in January and £23m at the end of the season? lmfao...

3: Suitability of punishments for entering Administration: Due to the unique circumstances that have beset Portsmouth FC, the Premier League should accept that there SHOULD NOT be any points deduction if the club enters Administration or is taken over by the Premier League. Do these retards think that any football club that entered administration did so lightly? Does being inept and having inept owners somehow exempt them from being punished? We had idiots like Lowe and Wilde, can we ask for our 10 points back?? Or do they really think their Premiership status means they're exempt from all bad things?? If this was some League One club they'd say nothing, why should boardroom incompetence be excused just because it's them? Utter, utter stupidity...

So let me get this straight... The man who was owed about £17 million by Gaydamak, paid about, funnily enough, £17 million in loans to the club... Now an Arab no one has seen, and many believe doesn't exist, has apparently given the club to him for nothing... Does anyone in English football look at some of the figures and the people involved with some of these clubs?? How can the above be anything less than Gaydamak finding a way of paying money back without paying money back???

If the club are overreacting then what is the paper's reaction? Is that not also slightly childish too? Your post seems very one sided. It's a shame as the Echo plays a pivotal role in the community as a whole. I feel it should have kept schtum about the Staplewood development. They say there was no agreement, the club says there was... The truth probably is lost in translation, the club probably did ask them to hold fire, the paper probably did think as the story was already in the public domain it was fair game... The Echo were right to publish but wrong to not think of the club when doing it. For the sake of a day the paper lost the basic respect of the club and it's all spun out of control. The fact that the club has put it's point of view across quite vigorously shows it's niggling them, they're trying too hard to appear to be not trying too hard... By dragging it out,the club aren't exactly covering themselves in glory either. Both parties need to grow up...

I would love to know how they can't can't pay their staff on time and owe money left right and centre and yet they can afford to fly to Manchester and overnight at a five star hotel? Again, how can the authorities allow them to carry like this? They are blatantly taking the ****....
-
Oh the bitter irony.....
-
Any mediocre Championship player will jump at the chance, neither of the players mentioned are worth a **** so will leap at the chnace of doubling their wages (if they get paid)
-
I will always rather be a scummer than a skate...
-
So from the son of an arms dealer to the son of the man behind Lockerbie... You couldn't make it up... Pompey shirt sales will take a dive (pardon the pun) north of the border...
-
No doubt about it, for all the bravado the skates are absolutely bricking it... They know that if they lose they will be absolutely ****ed. Bragging rights are already heading back our way with a solvent club going up against a debt ridden club going down. They are absolutely terrified about losing this one as 1) They'd never hear the end of it. And 2) It could really kick start a downward spiral, kill off their confidence and sent them reeling off to relegation/ administration or even complete close down... This game is massive for them, a delightful distraction for us... But before the realists start talking us down lets not forget they're bottom for a reason... They struggled like **** against Coventry and I'd fancy our chances against them. An inform League One side against the bottom Premier League club? Have we learnt nothing from Leeds? They beat Man Utd... This is ****ing Pompey for Christs sake! We can sooooo do this....
-
Can't see how we can lose really... If they beat us, what do you expect? They're Premier League and we're just mid table League One.. We win? We could well put them out of business, it'd be a hammer blow that they could well never recover from.... I mean, seriously... Losing to their bitterest rivals, who are two leagues below them and them in dire financial straits... They just cannot afford to lose this one...
-
See, I amended your mistake for you...
-
Absolutely right. There's been much huffing and puffing about history, rivalry and how somehow the world will be a lesser place without them and then they get, what, 8,000 fans at home to an all Premiership cup game, knowing that wages need to be paid and bills need settling... Shameful...
-
Apart from Premier League Portsmouth vs Premier League Sunderland attendance 10,315. Saints of Div3 v Ipswich of the Championship, attendance 20,400 Now when your club needs every penny it can get, that's priceless...
-
His sister will be gutted....
-
Quality post from one mong.... "Erm 720 mill in debt or 15 million where's man united embargo ???????" Well last time I checked Einstein, United pay their bills and their players... Always a good start.. It's like some of them are totally oblivious to why they're in such trouble..
-
Just about the best post out of all of them on this thread... If Carlsberg did local rivalry....
-
Funny there's hardly any comments about the fact that Chainrai has lent Pompey almost exactly the same amount Gaydamak Snr owes him? You can't help but feel sorry for Pompey, the more you look at it the more you feel the club's been used to launder money left, right and centre...
-
Difference being we were a Championship side languishing in the bottom half of the table after numerous **** ups by Lowe and co... People were fed up and tired of the fact that Lowe had come back to the club he took down and had yet again ****ed it up... If fans stayed away, who could blame them? Pompey on the other hand are still in the Premiership. The first sign of any trouble and they don't just desert the sinking ship, they fling themselves off it...
