  1. So they could, but surely if they get out of it by claiming to be another, new club then surely they would forfeit the rights to any parachute payments? Surely they would belong to the artist formerly known as Portsmouth??
  2. Rupert Lowe.. Guilty or innocent?
  3. Anyone with a half decent budget in this league will be playing it down... They've got money just not our sort of money...
  4. Sorry, shouldn't this thread be called "Are Saints Out Of Steve Finnan's League? The answer would be.... YES
  5. Spot. On. I felt that, to a certain extent, Cortese gave the Echo enough rope to hang themselves. You're right on the money with Pardew as well. There are signs that Saints have been looking at players post the Carlise game, when we knew our promotion bid was over. If Brighton are quoted as saying that their player was stalling on a new contract as Saints were showing an interest then I doubt very much that the club is unsettling players without a long term plan, or at least Pardew's plan... But I do most certainly agree that Cortese's silence was partly him simply gauging the public/press's support for him. Had it been lukewarm, Pardew would be gone. End of of. Cortese is an extremely smart cookie, ruthless but not stupid. He knows Pardew's done a good job but could do better and his silence has also told Pardew that almost is not good enough... It's going to be an interesting new season...
  6. Do you think that Cortese needs to be more forthcoming with the fans? Just going by this thread alone, we've got countless people reading between the lines, putting two and two together and coming with... oh you get the drift... Perhaps we need more openess from the chairman, a bit more honesty? The Echo certainly jumped in with both feet but perhaps that was due to the stunning silence emanating from St Marys. If we don't know the truth we'll make our own up... None of us, not one single one of us, knows what Cortese is thinking and what sort of person he is. He may be a ruthless business, he may be glowing humanitarian who bought Saints to bring peace and light to the world... None of us know... and none of us ever will know until we get to know more about him as a person..
  7. "The Saints Are Coming"
  8. Sorry, you're saying that on this messageboard?? lol http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/brighton/8670337.stm
  9. Nope, but there's more than enough there for the club to name us and they wouldn't do that if the interest wasn't concrete...
  10. I'm not so sure about Rafa, he should go but more than likely will stay... It just struck me as odd, us showing interest in a player if the manager could be on his way. I cannot see Cortese signing a player on the say so of an assistant coach... I just can't help but feel that Cortese has deliberately given the Echo enough rope to hang themselves..
  11. Am I alone in thinking that if Saints are supposedly signing Calderon then surely Pardew must have been involved? If so then surely he must have known his position was safe? He'd hardly be involved with unsettling a player is things were so up in the air? It's all a bit odd if you ask me...
  12. Charles Sale, friend of Rupert Lowe? Like we'll take anything he says without a pinch of salt... With all the vitriol being aimed at the Echo I can't help but feel the real culprits for all the mischief making are the the ones with the axes to grind, and I don't believe for a moment that Sale doesn't still has Lowe's ear.. I think Cortese is right but not quite as dramatically as he makes out in the article. People are out to make mischief but it's not quite as destructive as is made out. Certain people don't want to see the club being perceived as being successful without them and their input... I can't help but feel that the Echo was set up to look stupid. It didn't take much to allay fears and go public, the silence just added fuel to the fire. And the Echo lept in with both feet... Doh!
  13. Poor support? From the club that half filled Fratton Park for two FA cup games and then suddenly got interested in the cup once they got to the semis? Jesus what a gimp....
  14. Spot on, the atmosphere was that of a fun, end of season knees up. I think most people had no intention of invading the pitch until the announcer warned then not to three times. I really do think it soured the atmosphere a wee bit... One announcement fine, three is just inviting a few idiots to do exactly the opposite of what they're told...
  15. I think the most obvious answer is that given money, Redknapp is a great manager. Without money and having to rely on his own ability and nouse, and then he's actually pretty poor. At Spurs he's unsurprisingly very good, would he be so good at Hull or Burnley? You'll never know as he'd never take the job... The harsh truth is that he ended the season worse off than when he started it, which speaks volumes. But above all, and it's been said before on here, for a professional manager to show such little passion or care for the job in hand is a disgrace. For that alone the man is a c**t....
  16. No that I would pay good money for...
  17. Due to me and some friends doing corporate for the day I have two spare tickets for Saturday. £15 each, one Northam behind the goal, One Chapel, behind the goal... PM me if you're interested..

No, lard through and and through... lol I didn't recognise him at first, forget the weight, he's aged so much...
  19. Now that's a bloody good point, they owe us money... Now let's exploit it!
  20. And let's not forget the skates are desperate... 100k please.. in installments...
  21. "Well Carol, One times ten, plus the four, divided by the six.... Oh no, sorry, I've not got it...."
  22. Mutters to himself.. "That stupid ****ing old racist bint, I'd like to ****ing smash her ****ing head in... Hold on, is this microphone on? .... ****..."
  23. That kind of puts a damper on your "defendable" theory doesn't it? Saying Cameron might have said something as well? If it's defendable then Look, the worst thing about all of this is how Brown obviously cherry picks his public. The moment one, very ordinary, old woman expresses a view vehemently ... he falls apart. He didn't listen to her, he gave her "I'm smiling but I detest you really" smile of his and walked away probably leaving her feeling a bit short changed... You can't write it off, this has cost Brown a huuuuge chunk of the working class vote as I'd guarantee a lot of them hold similar views to the pensioner..
  24. Administration.... I wonder how Simon Jordan feels about administration these days? I remember him being very down on Saints when we entered admin, virtually accused us of cheating. Far be it for me to crow but........
  25. Pretty much what I thought Steve. It just winds me up when people seem to think that chucking money at the issue should mean instant success. Lack of any pre-season, a real losers mentality, a virtually new squad plus that initial trudge to get to positive points all add up to a tough season. All in all Pardew's done a blinding job...
