It appears that Nick Illingsworth has been refused a season ticket
Daren W replied to hypochondriac's topic in The Saints
Ok, out of all the selfish, centred comments we've had on installments/half season tickets, this one i take the most offense at. Some good people have been genuinely affected by the removal of installment plans/half season tickets and to just dismiss their complaint by referring to them as pikeys is just ****ing wrong... This "theory" that it was removed because of "defaulters" is just that, a theory. If it was the case why remove the half season ticket option? Answer? The club doesn't really care about season tickets as getting money in before the season is not a priority anymore, it's the week by week income Cortese cares about... which is fine, I don;t have a problem with it but it's the principle of promising something and then withdrawing it at no notice and with even less time to find the money... -

Again, why should anyone blindly defend Cortese? We all know that no one knows the truth behind all of this but until the club actually tells Nick if he's allowed a season ticket or not then we have no choice but to accept one side of the argument. You can't say "Well we only know one side of the story" when the other side apparently refuses to speak... It's amazing that people on here can slag off people for alledgedly "blindly hating Cortese" whilst blindly accepting everything he does... Like it or not the club's decision to withdraw Half season tickets and installment plans at no notice, after promising they would be kept, was wrong and it affected a sizeable section of the fanbase. Just because it didn't affect some doesn't make it right. Cortese has made some mistakes but at the moment they are outweighed by the things he's done right but don't sit there saying we shouldn't blindly accept one side when so many people have done just that... on both sides of the fence. FWIW If the banning order is because of the Silverspoons fiasco then ok, I can understand it. If it's because of Nick's opinions on ticketing matters etc then that's unbelievably wrong. All those people currently turning a blind eye, ask yourself if it happens to you would you expect people to sympathise? If you do then perhaps you should all look at your comments on Nick. Just because you don't like him doesn't make the clubs (alledged) actions right.. -

So why do you post on here? (and get worked up I hasten to add) -

Did you attend the Silverspoons gig? -

Do you know for a fact that that is why Nick is banned? -

So if A N Other fan sent letter upon letter to the Echo about, say installment plans, and was banned,.... what would you say? -

Spot on really. I'm not anti Cortese in any way shape or form, we owe him a great deal, but that should never stop us from questioning him. People didn't question Lowe until it was too late and if we haven't learned anything from that then we never will. -

Not true. Just pointing out elements of the post that are incorrect... HTH -

So as far as we know, Nick has been banned. If he's not received any kind of answer from any level then that speaks volumes. Now if it's because of the Silverspoons fiasco then I can understand it but the club has to say why Nick has been refused a season ticket. To just say nothing is pretty poor. Balance is required here. If Nick has been denied a ticket deliberately he needs to be told why. It's very bad form to not reply and it just fuels the conspiracy theories. It may be that's it's just a **** up (but unlikely) but as long as the club says nothing then anything could be the answer an dthat's apparent here with people talking with great authority, on both sides of the fence. On the subject of the negativity, perhaps we're so used to having moan that it comes as second nature but that doesn't mean we shouldn't question the club. The removal of the installment plan without notice, especially after having it on the "Fans Charter," was a major **** up but let's not let it overshadow what should be a cracking season. -
Oh dear... the arrogance of newly relegated teams who seem to think they'll bounce straight back.. We've signed good League One players as opposed to the sort of below average Championship players that got you relegated in the first plac. Morrison and Mellor are hardly what I call big names in the Championship let alone here...

If I hear one more smug installment quip I do think I will throw up. I'm surprised you didn't mention budgeting, credit cards or the pitfalls of being a working class poor person...

The Rose Bowl is exceptionally good value for money...

Me too, a much better option..

Can't see it happening if he's training with Newcastle. That said if he does join then it sends a massive statement of intent to the Championship and League One... Interesting times...

You've just ruined your own argument there. You've just stated that Muslim countries will not change their ways to integrate westerners, even in something so simple as kissing in public. You then state that western society should change it's natural inclinations by accepting Burhkas... Our natural inclination is to view people face to face, the burhkah is oppressive and deliberately sets it's wearers apart from others. Quite how people are getting so prissy about religion and stating that's why Sikhs can wear turbans and Hasidic Jews can wear their long sideburns and ordinary Jews can wear their yarmulke. The burhka is not a religious item of clothing, it's a cultural item and unlike the other stated religious fashion accessories, it flies in the face of every modern day anti terrorism law. That said, as a country that values freedom of speech I find it rather worrying that we can consider telling people what to wear...

Apart from players on the fringe I've yet to see any first teamer really put themselves about on a pre season game. Nine times out of ten it's just an exercise to stretch the limbs and shake off the "cobwebs" and get back into the old routine. Again, roll on the new season..

At last! Someone else noticed that! Can't be anything other than good news surely?

Something that a few people on here conveniently forgot...

But surely it's the matchday names that count???? I can understand changing the names for non footballing corporate but on matchdays surely the name of the suite is the biggest deal???? I don't think it's about an agenda, if the name of the suites is changed on a matchday then that is a big deal.... end of story...

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/MatchdayHospitality/0,,10280~1656597,00.html From the site it looks as if all mention of Bobby Stokes, Mick Channon, Matt Le Tissier and Terry Paine have been taken out... Don't let the dates of the articles fool you as I booked places in the Mick Channon suite for the last game of the season and the site had it listed as the Mick Channon suite, now it's know as the 1885 club and it shows an increase 25% on last year... No one seems to be commenting on it but as this year we're being told of the importance of history, is it not odd that the names of 4 of our greatest players have been taken off the suites? Or are we going to ignore that as well?
-
For what it's worth, yes, what the suites are called is an issue as they were named after Saints legends. Had Lowe done this there would be genuine outrage, why should it be any different as it's Cortese? The problem here is the derision from people for whom certain issues don't affect them and therefore those issues are irrelevent. Installment plans? Don't use them, no importance to me... Half season tickets Don't use them, no importance to me... Change of name at the hospitality suite? Don't use them, no importance to me... At what stage would anything be of of any importance to some people on here? When it affects them? Are we that hard faced or shallow that we show such little empathy for others that we can overlook some rather serious issues? Installment plans? Not everyone, at no notice, can russle up £350. Doesn't make them bad people, doesn't make them poor people. It just makes them people who expected an established payment method, that was promised to be kept by a recently published fans charter, to be upheld. Half season tickets? Not one statement from the club as to why this has been withdrawn. Costs? No a point in any way shape or form and it's an issue that needs to be addressed. Change of name at the executive rooms? In a year where we're celebrating our history, am I the only one finding it odd that the club suddenly ignores famous names of the past? Take one of the above changes to the club and it's not an issue. Add them all up and it's a different picture and it shows a club slowly but surely ignoring the public and considering the past, that's an unhealthy route to follow. I'm sick of people on here slaughtering the likes of Dune, Stu and DBP and writing them off as being extremist nuts for simply questioning the club. This is now the third issue of concern and like installment plans, half season ticket prices, booking charges etc people on here are writing them off as being alarmist or being over the top. One issue at a time and you have a point. Add them all together and you have real sign of some forthcoming, underlining issues... Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it, and if we don't have fans questioning the new board and the new chairman then we may end up in a similar situation to before....
