My first game was at Upton Park watching West Ham. my dad worked for an outside broadcast unit and I was hanging around there and in the camera pit right by the pitch watching the game. If anything would have made me a West ham fan it would have been that. But my mum took meet to watch an evening game at the Dell. It was freezing, we lost. I loved it. I think there's a whole generation who got into Saints through the Dell, it was just magical. I watched Saints with my mum and my brother, he was flying over from Holland, Spain, Portugal for the games. It meant something to all of us... It still does but the puffed up corporate, you mustn't stand, you mustn't do this, you mustn't do that, experience that modern football is, will proably put a whole slew of people off football.. I'm besotted with Saints. Be it Premier League, Championship or League One, I always will be. It's the hope that kills me... Come on Saints...

Summary of Nigel's Post-Match interview after Leeds
Daren W replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Or the fact that they're Arsenal fringe players and not Southampton fringe players? -
I can understand people feeling aggrieved, maybe a refund would a nice getsure but where would you draw the line? That said, the line up was an insult not only to the traveling saints fans but the Leeds fans as well. Why do clubs do that? A cup final is a big deal and it's the best a club like Saints can hope for. To throw that chance away is just shameful...

Nice to see a positive up beat thread. Now watch it get wrecked with people calling you happy clappy etc etc Thanks for the best 2 years in a generation Nigel, now **** off whilst we retract the knives from your back... -
Hold on, am I missing something here? I thought the club sacked all programme sellers? Now it appears they've just been sacked to make way for younger, roving, more mobile models? I'm all for change but isn't this ageist?

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
Daren W replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Exactly If your wife left you for your best mate, flaunted it in your face, made you fell like utter crap, broke up with him a few years later and asked to go back with you... Would you? Apparently some people on here would... -

In all honesty I would rather we went back down than employ that man back at our club. You want success? At any price?? That man betrayed this club in the worst possible way, never gave a toss, never gave a chance to the youngsters that now earn a good living in the top two tiers, dumped us for Pompey and kept them up... How people can want him anywhere near this club is beyond me. He betrayed us in the worst way possible. Surely there are more important things than football? Such as principles? -
No doubt that lack of pace contributed to Rickie not scoring against the reigning League champions and last years champions... oops...
-
ATM = Cashpoint Quite how the writer can point out we've spent £20 million and refer to money going OUT of the club to MALI's pockets is beyond me.... Clueless, absolutely clueless... And don't think the irony of him worrying about one man having too much authority over the club is lost on me...
-
Quick question... According to Birch Fratton is worth £2 million? Can we not club together, do a Trust type thing, buy Fratton and demolish it? Now that would be funny...
-
Omg... That is probably the best post EVER on this message board...

And what is lost on our blogging chum is that his car crash of a club has limped on for three years and has had fans of its bitterest rivals, quite rightly, commenting about it... Three years... If that pompous ***** had stopped to think about it, he'd have felt a massive sense of shame that his club has been laughed at for three whole effing years.... Obsessed? It's the longest running online comedy I can remember. Viva la Pompey takeover thread!
-
And when you bear in mind how much back biting went on with the "Fan on the board" can you imagine how bad it could get with the fan being the board?? That club would tear itself apart... Couldn't happen to a nicer club...

God I HATE that woman.... You just can't change your team like that, especially to one that was top two at the time. The ultimate football betrayal...

Interesting to see that the vast majority of posters actually back Matt... Yes, the use of the word coward is a bit harsh but a blind man could see Rooney was woefully out of sorts and should never, ever have stayed on the pitch through to extra time...

Daily Mail's Championship Review 2011/12
Daren W replied to Saint Without a Halo's topic in The Saints
Ok article, you'd be hard pushed to argue we over achieved this season but please... Managers of the year and they chose Hughton over Adkins? A Birmingham side that spluttered, faltered and failed all season? Can't quite see the logic in that... -
And yet the ultimate irony is that Pompey think the FA and the Football League have screwed them... The truth is that the powers that be have allowed Pompey to limp on as long as they have because of a guilty conscience.. No more, no less.... Time to put this rabid dog down methinks...
-
Means f all until he actually signs for us.... Long way to go yet...

Close mates with Alan Howard. Know his family very well. Too right about them being drinkers! Rest In Peace Bill...

Bantr.tv - 'Why The Saints Will Struggle In The Premier League'
Daren W replied to wireframebox's topic in The Saints
Just what I thought, I badly thought out blog that comes from someone who obviously has no idea of how Saints got to the Premiership in the first place... and it wasn't by being a two man team.. Sounds like some Football manager obsessed geek who plays fantasy football in the Sun and thinks that makes him authority on football. Where is this fortune we've spent? Do Norwich and Swansea have this huge pool of Premier League talent we lack? Is it even worth us turning up next season? -
Ahhhhh! Short dark hair? That would be Bob... That's his normal look! Seriously! He even scowls when he smiles!

James was going strong up until about midnight, by then we'd lost a few of us. Considering we started at 09:30... No mean achievement... Really nice fella...
