What do you think is the number one reason why......
lordswoodsaints replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
A lack of quality players due to a rigid pay structure.....any decent players weve had gets lured away too easily because we weren't willing to pay them well enough to stay. Too cautious too much IMO. -
I've never walked up wembley way with you.....I might have staggered a few times though :-).
-
The owners should have struck whilst the iron was hot IMO,why put off for next season what could have been achieved this season. There was a lot of time wasted in appointing pardew (probably not their first choice) and then a lot more time bringing in the needed players,ok we might have been shackled to certain degree because nobody wants to play in a sh1t league for a team on -10 but as notts county have proved,if you pay decent players decent money they will play anywhere. We failed too soon.

I'm too embarresed to attend even if it is free.

Live Deadline Day Transfer Rumours from Daily Echo

Lack of ambition and intent IMO,apart from the obvious things off of the field we are no further advanced from last season. It is nice to be free of debt and lowe but I havnt witnessed one single thing that has shown me we mean business in this league tbh. -
Live Deadline Day Transfer Rumours from Daily Echo

Saga going out on loan again I suspect. -
What a wordsmith you really are. Restrictive wage caps and an unwillingness to spend big in the transfer Market playedva massive part in our downfall from the prem. Our record signing being £4m for Rory delap says it all really, if you also couple this with letiss being the highest paid saints player ever,a player that peaked in the 90's then it shows how far behind everybody else we really were in terms of wages and transfers. I'm not suggesting we should go out and spend money like water but being one of the bigger clubs in the league we should be able to compete with most clubs in our league and definately all of the clubs in L2,regardless of their financial backing.
-
Yes I would,he has played well this season so what's the point in selling an international striker and replace him with somebody else without pedigree? If you wanna get out of this sh1t league quickly then you need to attract the best players and pay the best wages......I suppose this is what notts county are trying to achieve.
-
I'd say saga joining county indicates all is not good at saints. Once again it seems we are being shackled by restrictive wage caps.

Who plays with wingers in this day and age?

I like your optimism and I hope you are right,in fact I pray you are right but as you say it is your opinion and my opinion is I think we will struggle.
-
I think a few of you need to show norm a bit of respect. I know the man personally,he is a true saint and a gentlman, whatever your views of Pompey are you need to respect his views. How's that norm?,am I back on the Christmas card list?:-)
-
I'd agree with this,if we are in the relegation zone at Christmas then it will be very unlikly we will be out of it at the finish line. Players confidence will be shot, pardew will be struggling to find an answer and the owners will become restless.....not to mention us lot,it's already happening after 5 games so after 5 months it will be intense. Financial and survival decisions will have to be made by the owners......5 year plan or not, pardew will be in a precarious position.
-
My expectations are that we will be lucky to survive. Going by the stats we need 1.3 points per game just finish outside of the relegation zone,at the moment we are gaining 0.6 points per game so to ask an already disfunctional, unfit bunch of players to more than double their efforts is a tough task for pardew. IMO at the moment I don't think we have got it in us to do it,I hope I am wrong and pardew turns it around, but personally I think it will take more than pardew has to offer. There is something more wrong with this club than just changing a manager and buying a few players to fix it I'm afraid. So my prediction is relegation again but I would love it if I was wrong. I'm on holiday so was unable to get to the game but the booing came over the radio loud and clear,it seems the natives are getting restless. I am standing by my prediction but I will add that pardew will be lucky to last until Christmas.

I thought this was about fonzie and the rest of the gang? Oh well, whilst I'm here...... YOU SKATE BASTARDS....your going down with no money, down with no money. 657 is your highest crowd this year,657 is your highest crowd this year

I would get rid of CCTV and go back to the 80's when you could easily get away with a bit of footie violence dressed in your best casual clothing.
-
I have been looking at the stats for L1 for the last 5 seasons and to survive in this league you need on average 50 points so that's 60 points because of the -10. We are averaging 0.6 points per game at the moment but need to be getting 1.3,more than double just to survive. This is achievable but to all those numpties who say we will be pushing for a playoff place, you need to wind down your expectations. So I go back to my original post.......at the moment we just ain't good enough. Obviously this can improve, and I am confident things will get a bit better but make no bones about it,we will be struggling all season and kicking around the bottom three.
-
As you say, this is your opinion which I respect even if I don't agree. I must say I was underwhelmed by his appointment as IMO there has always been a suspect side to his managerial career, something that was evident in the game against Swindon. I am behind him but I will continue to poke, prod and question when things are not going right but on the flipside I will give praise and applaud when things look good. This would be my attitude whoever the manager is,I'm not one of these people who have blind faith in a person or manager, this may come across as arrogant or negative but I see it as constructive.......managers cannot be right 100% of the time and I'm sure they are big enough and paid well enough to take a bit of criticism as well as taking the applause. I expected us to be in a better position than we are,we are not so I am questioning why.....I might not like the answers but I will accept them if they are realistic, what I won't accept is the answers from the people with blind faith as these people are no better than the religious nuts who knock our doors on a Saturday morning.
-
I don't think anybody was expecting promotion this season,if they were then they must be deluded......if you read back through my posts I have been questioning the people who thought we would be promoted or get into a play off position. IMO we will be kicking around the bottom 3 for the rest of the season and will be lucky to stay up......that is realistic. I don't think there are many advocating sacking pardew but like me there are a few questioning wether he is the right man for the job, wether or not he is capable of the task ahead and wether he will be given the time and resources.
-
Havnt we already bought the best finisher in the league,do we not already pay a large amount of money to a polish international striker,do we not also own a player coveted by premier league clubs in lallana?? We might have put in a good performance today but I don't agree we need a finisher,if we do we are in trouble as we won't attract anybody better than what we already have.
-
Nice stadiums don't win you games Nice training facilities don't win you games Great history doesn't win you games Loyal fans don't win you games But good, well motivated, fit players that want to play for you, coupled with a clued up manager gives you a better chance. At the moment we aren't good enough to give us a better chance. Obviously the players who are hoping to move on are a distraction but why play them,I wouldn't give them the time of day. Pardew should getting the players who want to be here to gel,its no good trying to get players who won't be here next month to try and gel together.
-
IMO it is down to fitness, strachan got the players fit enough to last a game and a half, every man played until the final whistle, something we are not doing. The fitness hasn't been great since strachan left,IMO the current crop of players are unfit, lazy, demoralised,Ill disciplined and basically fookin useless. The only player who looks fit to me is Harding and he obviously gained his fitness elsewhere.
-
To be out of minus points after 5 games which I thought wasn't too unrealistic.....this was the prediction I made to myself before the start of the season. This obviously hasn't happened. When did you expect to be shot of the -10??
-
That bald **** fitness coach needs the boot
lordswoodsaints replied to St Will's topic in The Saints
Sounds like to me that not only do we have to learn to beat ourselves,we also have to overcome the ref. Until this happens we are never going to get out of the bottom three. -
Probably the other way round, just finished playing myself so havnt been listening to solent.
