Is that that dinlo from big brother who never got her baps out?
-
I'm all for stability but if stability means another relegation then it's not for me. No matter what most of you think there is a real possibility that we will get relegated regardless of how positive you are or how well you get behind the manager.just because it's alan pardew it doesn't mean we are immune from relegation,we might have a good manager,we might have one of the best, most expensive squads in the league,we might have the best grounds filled with the most fans but this counts for nothing if we can't string a bit of form together and turn that form into 60 points. I cannot beleive that people are happy with being stable regardless of where it takes us.
-
I agree,if we don't win then I think the pressure will go into the red,a draw maybe acceptable to some but not really good enough.
-
He should have been banged up ages ago for imitating a pro footballer.
-
After thinking about it and reading what a few of you have to say,I would think he would do more good at this club than he would bad. He has a decent track record outside of the prem,he would be a big draw for the fans and from the point of view of the press he is a story (good and bad) waiting to happen. How often to you get an ex England manager to get involved with a 1st division club? He might not of done too well with England but he didn't get the job because he was a crap manager,he got it because he was the best English manager available and he was the peoples choice. I think if the oppurtunity arises to acquire his services in any capacity ML and cortese would be stupid not to accept.
-
He has just won £2m damages from Newcastle and is now free to pursue employment without it affecting his damages case. Chdagjfu? As director of football?
-
Should of kept stern or even bwp, nobody had to be sold once the new owners stepped in and pardew could have had the pick of any of the strikers under contract.

I don't think you are getting my post....I didn't support JP or wotte, they weren't good enough for the job and I was glad when JP went, but then we ended up with wotte which was another disaster.I didn't want wotte to remain at the end of the season but he remained dignified and stayed around when he could of just washed his hands of the whole thing and that I applaud him for. Going back to my original post,it is common knowledge that I don't think much of pardew but I have also said that he has made some good signings and he is a good manager for this league,I don't think he is capable of sorting out our mess but he is here and he has a job to do,IMO he won't be here this time next year.....I could be wrong and if I am then I will hold my hands up and say so but that doesn't mean I have to back him. He may be doing marginally better than JP or wotte but you also have to realise that pardew commands good wages compared to the Dutch duo and he has had very good money to spend where the other two had nothing,so he may have a slightly better record for saints than those two but that little bit extra has cost a fortune and it really should be a lot better. As I said before there are people on here who weren't even willing to give the Dutch a chance let alone half a season but those same people are now shouting the loudest for pardew to be given as much time as he wants, even if it leads to another relegation.....blind faith is a dangerous thing,I wonder if pardew would have been given as much time by the fans if he had been appointed by lowe? The facts are, rebuilding or not the return so far is crap.....I want as much as every fan for pardew to succeed as that means my team is doing well but I don't think he is the right man for the job,I don't think he is capable of pulling it off,I don't have faith in him like so many do.

Does Coretese keep tabs of fans views via this forum?
lordswoodsaints replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Tbh this forum represents a very very small percentage of the fanbase and shouldn't be considered as a true representation of opinion. ......but if you're reading SORT THE SH1T OUT. -
I'm not a fan of any of the managers I mentioned, all three were thrust into difficult situations and IMO all three are/were not good enough for the task ahead. My point was that the people who called for the sacking of JP and wotte after a few games (some before the season had even started) are now the same people who are calling for pardew to be given time.......so it seems that if they like a manager then he must be given time,if they don't like him then he should not be afforded the luxury. I didn't rate wotte as a manager,I think he did better than JP but he did fail,he failed to keep us up and IMO so will pardew. My opinion of wotte as a man not as a manager changed when he remained dignified in the turmoil. As I have said on other threads,I don't know the answers to our problems but I don't think it is pardew,we need an impact manager, somebody who can get players fit, somebody who will put the fear into the players because at the moment they are a bloody disgrace. This cannot be blamed on no pre season as the majority of the current first team have come from other clubs who did have pre seasons.

Objective Assessment Season to Date?
lordswoodsaints replied to Kingsbridge Saint's topic in The Saints
I'd agree with this. You can dress it up as much as you like but it's still crap. -
B0ll0x,the people who are calling for pardew to be given time were the same people who were calling for JP to be sacked after a few games......fookin double standards. The truth is pardew has done no better than JP whatever their backgrounds and previous triumphs. For the record I wasn't a fan of JP or wotte, although my opinion changed on wotte after he remained dignified when things were going a bit crazy at the club, and I'm also not a fan of pardew, never have been and probably never will be.
-
For all those calling for stability, why weren't you calling for it whilst wotte or JP was manager? Pardew hasn't done any better than them.

Was I the only one laughing when the goal went in,it made me giggle all the way to the bridge. I'm just glad I can only make non Saturday games this season.

Can anyone see Cortese putting up with this much longer ?
lordswoodsaints replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
The facts are for the level of investment that ML has spent, the return is unacceptable,we are currently running at less than 1 point per game (certain relegation if this continues). Nobody knows how the season is going to pan out but I would imagine that it will continue along the lines of what we are getting at the moment, probably with a couple of high points which will followed by a couple of silly last minute losses. This 5 year long term plan that some of you keep bleating on about.......there maybe one but it doesn't mean you have to rigidly stick to it,if you had to drive from here to Aberdeen and you set your satnav to get you there only to find that one of the roads was blocked by roadworks you wouldn't crash through the barriers hoping that you will be ok and able to continue on your journey, you would find an alternate route or buy a better satnav that could steer you clear of trouble. You cannot have a plan in football,it is a very unpredictable game otherwis every team in the country would be joint top of the premier league. ML,cortese and pardew can sit around a table and say what they would like to happen until they are blue in the face but the liklehood of their wishes coming true are virtually zilch, there are too many factors, too many pitfalls and too many crappy players who will put an abrupt stop to the plan. I'm guessing that they sat down and said the first year of the plan is to stay in this league and maybe scrape the playoffs, but staying in this league would be sufficient. If we continue as we are we will not stay in this league, pardew and the players are underperforming and the natives are getting restless, what does ML do? The options are 1) throw money at the problem 2) stick with pardew and hope he can turn it around 3) don't stick with pardew and hope somebody else can turn it around I'm guessing our current scenario wasn't part of the plan so it needs to be adjusted,if it continues then one of the above things will happen. -
How long will you give Pardew to get a second win?
lordswoodsaints replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Obviously we won't be relegated until it's mathematically certain that we cannot stay up but let's say come February it looks very unlikely we will stay up do we still back pardew? To answer your question,I don't know what or who the answer is to our problems, perhaps we havnt finished falling yet?,perhaps we havnt hit rock bottom yet? Perhaps we need to take another relegation on the chin before we can rise again, who knows? What I would like to see is a manager who can get the players fit enough to play until the end and beyond if needs be (we had players last night who were blowing like an old donkey, mills who came on as sub looked like he had just smoked 40 fags before he came on,he was struggling with about 10 minutes to play) I would like a manager who shows a bit of passion and emotion from the touchline,a manager who doesn't make strange substitutions at strange times,a manager that the players listen to and want to play football for. -

lordswoodsaints replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Are you happy to give him the entire season even if it means certain relegation? Because I would say that relegation doesn't equal stability,it would mean more upheaval, more team building and probably a different manager. The people blindly backing pardew regardless of the outcome are the nutters IMO. -

lordswoodsaints replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
In an ideal world I would like to think that we could give pardew time to develop a team but this is not an ideal world. For one reason or another we have been in trouble from day one, minus points, not a good pre season, new owners etc etc ,this has all contributed to our problems on the pitch. Is pardew the right man for our club? IMO probably not,I wasn't too impressed with his appointment,he hasn't filled me with confidence and he has come across as pig headed and arrogant but he has made some good signings and for this league he is a big name manager,I just don't think he is right for this club. Perhaps the decision makers at the club rate him,who knows? Perhaps this crap start has been accounted for in the long term plan? If it has then the decision makers will be satisfied but for financial and credibility reasons they must have in their minds an expectation level,a cutoff point when they say enough is enough. If it were my club I would be dissapointed with the return for my money, good money has been spent on players and I should imagine that pardew himself doesn't come cheap so this is all adding to the pressure of the whole thing. I cannot imagine for one minute that another relegation has been written into the 5 year plan but if our current form continues then relegation will be a certainty. So where do we go from here? Have we got the luxury of time to allow pardew to do a job.....the answer to that is probably not really, having been handicapped by the -10 then something has to change/improve a long time before January as some have suggested,IMO January will be far too late to turn it round. I was talking to a few Bristol fans whilst walking back to the car last night and they were pretty much unanimous in their assessment of us,out of all the teams that were relegated from the championship,we were the one they feared the most,as it turned out they couldn't believe how fragile we were. Should pardew be given time, perhaps he should but somehow I don't think he will. -
I suggest that some action be taken to avoid a sinking,it is common knowledge that pardew wasn't their 1st choice, possibly not even their 2nd choice so perhaps letting pardew go won't be as hard a decision as some people are suggesting. I don't know what the answers are to our problems but how much damage do you let a manager inflict before it's too late? Do you let it see out it's course regardless of the outcome? Do you hold your nerve until Christmas? Do you make the change now and give yourself a fighting chance? One of the above decisions will be made, but which one is the right one?
-
If you were the owner of an expensive boat and the captain kept hitting rocks, scratching the nice paintwork on the dockside and narrowly missing small boats you would take the wheel off of him before he hit the big iceberg and sunk the bloody thing wouldn't you? You wouldn't sit by and say 'perhaps he might improve,I've given him the job for 5 years and regardless of the damage caused and the threat of sinking the boat I'm gonna stand by him'
-
There has to be a cutoff point, when will it be too late to turn it around? Do we let pardew continue regardless of the outcome because we are supposed to have a 5 year plan or do we get rid and hope that whoever takes the job can do enough to save us from another relegation? Nobody can predict what the outcome will be but if we continue as we have started then relegation it is,if pardew can turn it around and gain about another 50 points from our remaining games then we might just survive. I am not confident that he can get the necessary points but it doesn't matter what I think or believe, the owners must have an idea of how far they will allow him to go,they might even allow him to continue regardless of the outcome......this would be a strange decision and against the odds but if their plan includes another possible relegation then it will be the right decision for them. Personally I think leaving it until January will probably be too late so you might as well let him continue,if we can grab some decent points before Christmas we might have a chance but if the trend continues as it is then the pressure on pardew will be too great. Every saints fan wants the best for us and I think that the majority hopes that pardew gets it right before it's too late but if he can't then it is inevitable that another change will happen.

lordswoodsaints replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
This is all well and good if we had started on an even keel but we need 50+ points to just survive,so that's 60+ points because of our -10 and that is a big ask for a team that is currently gaining less than a point per game. -

I stick by what I have been saying all season......pardew is not good enough for the huge task that is SFC,I don't know who is? Perhaps a somebody in the mold of strachan? I still maintain that rightly or wrongly pardew will not last the season,I don't think he will be allowed to continue along this path. -
I'm not saying a player should be ridiculed in public but it is obvious that certain players have been/are underperforming, pardew should have done exactly what you have suggested,if he hasn't then there is a problem,if he has then there is still a problem as the players are not responding, this is either a problem with the players attitudes or a problem with pardews communication skills. Players know what sort of game they have played and what they need to do to improve, last week I played and had a shocker,I came on for the second half with the score 2-2,within a couple of minutes I gave away a penalty,10 minutes later I knocked the ball out for a corner when I could have knocked it out for a throw in and they scored from the corner, losing the game 4-2.It was obvious I had a bad game,I apologised, took the criticism and I also went away determined to improve for yesterdays game,I ran myself into the ground, scored within 2 minutes in a hard fought game and we ended with a good point. I don't play football for a living and it doesn't really matter if I play well or not,I don't affect the lives if thousands of fans just the other players in my team,so why don't the players have the same determination and fight that I do? After all it is their living. There is no hunger, there is no determination to succeed, there is no fight because the players are pampered ponces, their pay packets heavily outweigh there effort and it is not effected by their shortcomings on the field. Players should be given a few games to turn it around otherwise they should be rejected and replaced by players who will, their wages should also be cut to reflect their inability to perform, this should kick start their hunger.
