It would be interesting to know how many goals have been scored at the chapel end and how many at the northam end since we moved to st marys?
-
I wouldn't want them to go completly out of business as we go back a long way, they were my first away game in 1976,and I have been to every encounter since....my best mate is a Pompey fan and I would be devastated for him if they went bust. They have to survive but I do think they need to be punished and brought down to a suitable level. I know that there was an element who prayed that we didn't exist when we were in trouble but do we need to stoop as low as them? They need us as much as we need them, without each other there is no rivalry, there is no banter and when the cup draws come around there is no excitement......cast your minds back a week and remember how you felt when those two balls were pulled out if the hat, look at how those two balls have got the two cities buzzing and the whole country watching. It would be a very sterile football world without them,we need the unwashed to infect our day to day lives.

For my sins I have sat in the chapel and from there the northam doesn't look or sound as impressive as you northam boys think, tbh it just looks like a bunch of kids not being able to get their act together when singing a bunch of unimaginative songs......it ain't no archers in it's heyday. Moving the away fans to allow a wall of sound in the northam is just a smokescreen,IMO it is all about tighter control of the away fans probably suggested by the old bill.the club will try and sell you a line about the northam being the best place to sit just to encourage fans not to move, they see the chapel and kingsland as being passive towards away fans,so less problems, resulting in a reduced police and steward presence.

Fishy Inflatables! You know it makes sense!

I have seen some inflatable £20 notes -
Think you will find that Pompey have a say in the ticket pricing so expect them to be higher as they need the money. It would be better if saints fans never bought any tickets.

Southampton to hold a fundraiser for Portsmouth date - 13th February time 3pm to all Portsmouth fans - please don't feel intimidated by a large crowd, you will get used to the noise after a while and remember we are doing this for your benefit. Please note - this game is subject to change at the discretion of HMCR.

Tbf I have never liked keane, his gesture to the crowd just magnified my dislike of him.....I would love to meet him in the street and knock the reputation right out of him,I hope he is with Paul 'the guvnor' ince as well because I can't stand that ***** either. He deserves all the stick we can give him today.

What I am saying is a manager is only as good as the league position of the team he manages...... I'm not a fan of pardew but he has done a better job than I expected,I think he has made baffling mistakes here especially with team selections and substitutions (Swindon away being a prime example) but on the whole he has done a decent enough job especially in the transfer Market. Would he have been a success without money to spend?..... I'm not so sure. A manager like redknapp needs money to do his job, although he did ok at Bournemouth without money. A manager like moyes does well at everton without a big budget but could the likes of ferguson or wenger do a job at a lower league club? When a manager has no money to spend they have to rely on luck, instinct and a good network of friends and scouts......sometimes this works out and the manager catches the eye, but most of the time it doesn't work out and the manager becomes a nobody....for every success story there are 20 who are not. The question is would pardew have taken the job here if it was made clear to him that he wouldn't have any money?.......my answer would be that he probably wouldn't have touched it with a bargpole. IMO this season is all about planting the seeds,it is next season we will reap the fruits,if we get a few early fruits in the form of a cup or even a late charge for a playoff place then it will be a bonus. Overall I'm happy with what's been achieved this season, although it could be better....if I had to give pardew a mark out of 10 then it would be a 7.
-
Pardew is as good as our league position....slightly above average, but if you take the -10 points then he is bordering on being a very good manager.

sometimes sacrifices have to be made, the place did stink but that didn't stop me from doing my bit:-)

I was one of them,I was ****ing all over the pitch to defrost the snow,I also had a dump in the goalmouth to generate a bit of extra heat.

No stats will ever convince me that they have ever been better than us.....our 27 years in the top flight and founder members of the premier league blows anything they have out of the fish filled water. I've even come up against their infamous 657 a couple of times and they were pussys, there whole perception of themselves on and off of the pitch is just a fragile illusion built on very little fact,an illusion that is just about to crash down around their ears....a bit like fratton park after a strong wind.

No one worried at the level of spending..?
lordswoodsaints replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Personally I think the level of spending you are seeing at the moment is down to what has been achieved since the start of the season,if we hadn't done so well and put ourselves in a strong position for a possible promotion,I think they would have held off spending until the summer but as there is a possibility for a push up to a playoff position I think they are going to give it a good go and try and get promoted this season. Going back to the op,this time last year I would have been extremely worried about spending money but as we are now virtually debt free and mortgage free, the crowds are up and there is no infighting between major shareholders then I think we should enjoy the ride,if the owners want to lavish the cash on their plaything then who are we to complain. This is a sustainable project, unlike trying to get Notts County into the Prem or Man City to win the League. -
If Newcastle want Him let's see if they've got the balls to make an offer and then we will then see what our true intentions are, depending on if that offer is accepted. It's not going to happen,Newcastle can't afford him and we don't need to sell him, what message would that send out to the fans and the rest of the league if you go and sell one of the best players in the league?
-
No surprise really.
-
IMO he's a decent player,he has made mistakes but he is still only young,I would like to see him stay but if pardew doesn't fancy him then it's best the boy moves on......good luck to him wherever he ends up.

Is it colin Clarke?

Thanks

Anybody know how to get it on an iPhone?

I think I heard it's after the west ham game
-
I'd agree with that,we always had trouble away to Luton in the 80's,mind you I was looking for it so I shouldn't be surprised. Likewise I couldn't give a toss what happens to them as they cheated their way to success in the 80's with a plastic pitch and an away fans ban,so today they deserve their position.

Luton deserved something from the game but a win is a win and we march on,just not in a convincing manner.
