Is The Forum Representative Of Saints Fans In General
lordswoodsaints replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
IMO this forum isn't a good representation of a cross section of saints fans..... A lot of people on here have a more extreme opinion than they would in the real world. There are a lot of people who are brave behind a computer screen and are more than likely quiet law abiding citizens by day......but there are also a lot of fans in real life who goto games, put on their hardest singing voices and act like a lunatic for 90 minutes then after the final whistle go back to being the 'mild mannered janitor'. Basically there are a lot of actors on here who have a different opinion than they do away from their pc. -
I think Pompey is a bit below him tbh.

It always amazes me how some fans/supporters think that the club owes them something when in reality they don't give a **** about us......just the money you spend. All the club want you to do is turn up on matchdays spend a shed load and fook off home.....in fact if they could get away with us just spending money and not turning up on matchdays they would be even happier.

Is this not what lawrie did in the 70's......buy players from the higher leagues who were deemed to be finished only to revive their careers and turn them into winners? For the record I don't believe the Benjani rumour but stranger things have happened.

Oh dear,oh dear the skate wannabes are getting excited about playing the biggest team in Hampshire.....how cute.

Not disappointed, more surprised tbh, obviously it is better to get your signings in early so it gives the player(s) more time to settle rather the new players doing the settling in the first few weeks of the season. It can't be down to money and I suspect that pardew would rather hit the ground running......so I can only assume it is down to the right player being available for the right money. We also have to assume that as soon as a player becomes linked with saints the price rises and I can't for 1 minute see cortese being held to ransom over a players inflated price.

Bit boring if you ask me......would much prefer traditional yellow and blue.

Good news.....and he didn't use an agent, which is a good sign.

I changed my mind about crouch,at first I saw him as a chancer and I am not a fan of rich fans running football clubs because they tend to make irrational decisions based on what their heart is saying rather than sound business decisions, but he did give a virtually dead football club a chance to survive with his £500k payment..........and for this I will forever be grateful, but he did play a big part in the destruction of the club in the first place. We must also remember we were very very lucky to come out of it all virtually unscathed, something that will become more apparent as more and more clubs go bust and disappear.

Michael Owen anyone? In the de vere last Monday.

Is Cortese deliberately trying to annoy the fans.
lordswoodsaints replied to landford.saint's topic in The Saints
Agree that the attitude will put off a lot of people. I however have served my time as being a loyal supporter no matter what sh!t is thrown at me (40+ years) and now it's time for me to take it easy, age combined with better things to do have made me not too bothered either way,I will pick and choose which games to goto. Good things are happening at saints and people will feel the need to be part of it but to me,it ain't worth the stress unless I feel like it. -

You do realise you have a choice? If you are unhappy with the product don't buy it. -
Could James be tempted with a move here? He has only recently become a resident in Southampton.

Former Saints who could/should manage England fred...
lordswoodsaints replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
The simple but sad truth is that we will never achieve anything whilst greed and sleaze outweigh the desire to play football for the right reasons.....nobody should deny a footballer the chance to earn a good living from what is effectively the biggest form of entertainment in this country, but players need to get back to basics and start making decisions based on what is best for football and not what is best for their wallets. -

Redknapp is the man for me......BUT,but he will not be the choice of the FA because of his shady background, but they did give the job to venables so why not redknapp. Employing foreign managers has proved as successful as employing an English manager so the fa have to go for an Englishman as their argument no longer stacks up. -
I assume the flybe seats will be removed and replaced.....any ideas if they are going to revert to normal coloured seats or is something else planned?

On my next project I am going to incorporate something saintly into the paintwork.....not sure what, maybe a saints badge or 'saint' stick figure or I might get the seat upholstered in a saints shirt.

Just seen drew about 20 mins ago near chilworth roundabout.....doesn't contribute much to this thread but I'd thought I would let you know. -
I paid £50 last season for my sons ST and this season it has risen to £84 a rise of roughly 70%...... Although this is still good value the rise seems a little steep and tbh a little hard to justify seeing as we didn't get promoted......is the standard of football/entertainment/atmosphere likely to be improved by 70% On last season?,probably not but my son will be 100% happy if I renew his.
-
Spent too much money restoring my lambretta so I won't be getting one anyway.I will just pay to goto as many games as I can get to,I didn't have any problems getting tickets. Last season and I don't envisage having troubles getting tickets this season. I think that the structure and the lack of credit will put off a lot more than it will attract, there are no real incentives for new customers.

I have been hearing from the club that anybody who sat/stood in the northam last season will not be allowed to do so this season....the reasons given are that a) they were too quiet and b) they won't sit down c) they want to give other people a chance to own a season ticket in the northam. NC is trying to work out the best way to break the news as he thinks one or two will get upset.
