Oh dear

I'm sticking with 'cheap option who will do a decent job on a budget'.
-
The club has been setup to run self sufficiently and employing Adkins is a clear sign of this, you could call him the cheap option because he will have a track record of doing well under financial restraints as compared to a 'big name' manager who would have wanted big money to spend to maintain his reputation. Money will be released if we get into trouble as the liebher family will want to protect their investment but since ML died I think the urgency for success also died. Adkins appointment sent out the clearest message yet of the road that saints are going up.

Just a question to you admin/mod people....... Has there been any instances where legal action has been threatened or you have taken legal advice over something that has been written on this site by a user or by yourselves?

I take my nan to Bournemouth for day trips, what a lovely place, all the scousers and mancs are so friendly.
-
if im honest this forum has been crap for a couple of years,i think turkish is right, whatever the reasons there just isnt enough quality posters anymore. just like st marys, the forum is very sterile..... i dont know the mods or admin (perhaps one or two by sight) and im sure they think they are doing a good job but they need to shake this place up and once again make it the place it should be. dont be scared to upset people and stick two fingers upto the threat of libel.

I don't agree with a lot that is written on here about cortese or saints in general,IMO 99% of it is codwash but do you really think that cortese takes any notice of the crap that is written on this site,do you think he would really make any rash decisions because some anonymous knobhead spews a bit of bile from behind a computer screen? I really can't see that happening.....let's say there are maybe 4k registered users on here most are positive, some think they are itk, you could probably count on one hand the users who are basically grave dancers, the ones who would like to see the club implode. Do you honestly think that cortese is looking over his shoulder because of half a dozen knobheads with an extreme opinion.....I don't think so. This forum is good but it's not that good,IMO it doesn't represent a true cross section of the saints fanbase.....Jeez,some of you should get out more.

43 years.....I'm blind:-)

It's not a great result but it is certainly an improvement,i think the cancer is a lot deeper than most suspect.

If you want to take it on a pass by pass basis then I would say that in general a fan will applaud a decent pass,a neat bit of skill or a nice shot etc etc but they will also moan when a pass goes astray etc. On a game by game basis people will weigh up the overall performance and rate them accordingly. If a player has a few bad games on the bounce then it is obvious that something is not right and a change is needed. The opinions that you have quoted are personal opinions and there will be 20k of them most weeks, most will be similar, some will be different and a few will be extreme but on the whole most will agree that a player has had a good or a bad game. I have been to plenty of games and then read the reports the next day, sometimes wondering if I've actually been to the same game, and I'm sure you and everybody else has done the same. I have been to games and thought that puncheon has had a decent game but overheard other fans saying he is useless....it's just personal opinion, perhaps they didn't rate him in the first place and that just sticks in their minds. If you pay your money you are entitled to sit and applaud or rant and rave....it's human nature and personal preference.
-
Those all seem like valid view points to me,if people are not happy with the performances(I should imagine that is just about everybody) then they deserve to air their grievances.....let's face it not too many players are performing at the moment. Fans and players have to accept that will always be criticism in the same way as there will always be applause when a player does well, after all the players are paid an obscene amount of money to kick a sheeps bladder around the park, with that large wage comes responsibility to perform. IMO a little bit of criticism keeps you on your toes,if they don't like it then the choices are perform better or fook off and let somebody else have a go. Criticising a player(s) doesn't make you less of a fan.

I think people of my generation (in their 40's) witnessed the greatest era in the clubs history,it all sort of started to go wrong in the late 80's early 90's for lots of different reasons,ok there were a few highlights, letiss,fa cup final and a few memorable games but it just didn't seem the same as the 70's and 80's......the club and the fans were a lot closer, you could go to an away game and the same faces were with you week in and week out,I could sit or stand in any part of the dell and bump into loads of people I knew and we were all friends. Those days seemed a lot simpler and friendlier, the club and the fans were as one 99% of the time, the players lived amongst us and shared our joy as well as feel our pain but most importantly they were approachable. Jimmy Steele was a mate of my dads, and they used to go out on the **** together sometimes with ossie,I was mates with Dennis wise,Reuben agboola and Mark Dennis,I used to bump into chris nicholl all the time over the sports centre and he was always willing to talk about saints. I'm not name dropping just trying to show how things have changed and IMO not for the better......how many fans these days are friends with footballers? Not many I suspect. What I'm trying to say is that the club today is far removed from the club people my age grew up with,I don't like the club as it is today,I still enjoy my football but I can take it or leave it tbh.....perhaps it's my age, perhaps I'm just a grumpy old git. All these people who claim to speak for me,sisa and the trust are all people who I know from back in the day, they were knobheads then and are knobheads now.let them have their 5 minutes of fame nobody really takes any notice of them. I still love saints and I will always have an opinion but the passion is not there anymore.

'apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?' I don't have any gripes with NC.

Time to accept that it is unlikely we will go up

Sorry I don't agree, the 5 year plan is a load of 8ollox,any plan you make in football is probably never going to be achieved,it's too unpredictable,it's like walking into a casino with a tenner and saying to yourself I'm going to leave by midnight with £500 in my pocket.....it ain't going to happen. Managerial stability is a myth,it doesn't exist for 99% of the clubs in all 4 divisions, man city, spurs and Chelsea all have a high turnover of managers and they seem to do just fine,in fact spurs and man city have had more managers than us.correct me' if I'm wrong but the statistics are that there are only 16 clubs out of 91 who have had a manager for more than 2 years. Whatever the statistics are,the pressure of success and the desire to become a money making machine will always drive the need of frequent changes of manager.greed is king today. -

The hype was created by the media and the bookies,IMO it was always going to be a hard season full of pressure. Last season was supposed to be a season of treading water whilst things settled, basically just a season of surviving but we really exceeded the expectation and that's where the bookies stepped in to declare that we will walk the league and many fell for it. We lost a couple of decent players and they weren't replaced, the players that stayed seem to have got complacent or injured and pardew was sacked,I don't think he would have survived the pressure of expectation from us lot and NC anyway. The result is a total breakdown of a football club, because of this I don't think NA will last the season...... It's not his fault but he will become a casualty of the failures. But hey ho,life would be boring without a bit of drama. -
I think you will find that the information you require about the pardew sacking will never be made available to you.....you will just have to accept that the sacking was justified. You are free to take the action you speak of but it seems a bit extreme, just accept that this is the way it is for saints fans,it's hard work supporting the red and White and probably always will be.
-
Cut the chat and start winning games quickly before NC gets annoyed.
-
A win would have calmed everyones nerves including Adkins.
-
Oh dear.
-
Sounds good to me Tim. Some people on here think that just because you have a different opinion that you wish the saints to fail just to prove your point. I don't agree with the appointment of Adkins but I'm still 100% behind him because I want saints to succeed. COYR

Da da da da click click

Martin O'neil looks different.

**** me I hate being right all the time. I hope my predictions for Adkins don't come true otherwise I will be accused of being ITK.
-
Well that seemed to work ok last season,we narrowly missed out on a promotion opportunity (if it wasn't for the -10) and we won a cup final. I'm not sticking up for pardew because he deserved to get the boot but if we did sh!t last season you would have had an argument.

This thread is born out of the way we expect things to happen at our club,we expect a change of manager as frequently as Wayne Rooney visits brothels. The sad fact is I can't see anything changing......tbh frequent changes of manager doesn't bother me,in fact I welcome it as I know it does no real harm, but the reason I can't see it changing is because the club is always striving for instant success, chasing the big money dream of getting back to the promised land of the premiership, all the time selling the dream to the fans who then get impatient and want instant success. It's a vicious circle of expectation which the last few managers (since strachan) has found hard to live up to.
