  1. I did mention this to my mate yesterday, considering the winter we've had it looks excellent, well done to all involved.
  2. Great result but Swindon did make us look very ordinary and lazy in a couple of spells and that is going to cost us dear against better clubs. Lallana was excellent....a very important signing, probably the best bit of business done in the transfer window. I thought Hammond looked a bit sluggish yesterday and seemed a little unfit.
  3. Years of troubles on and off the pitch coupled with the over expectant feeling of being a big fish in a little pond who isn't getting his own way. When we are in a higher league (eventually) we will once again become the underdogs, the plucky little family club from the south coast and with that the feelings of punching above our weight, the Dunkirk spirit, the downtrodden little club etc etc will return. I think we all really miss struggling in the prem week in week out and the atmosphere that brings.
  4. Tragic news, one of the nicest fellas in football,he was superb under hoddle. dying at such a young age is an absolute tragedy. Rip deano
  5. There's a lot more people in Bournemouth talking about the war whilst sitting in their own p!ss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqrYgTa6fqE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  6. Is that BWP at the back?
  7. Stars in stripes They marched on saintly ground A march through history The boys done well One team in Hampshire They wore it well
  8. 'a profile of every player who pulled on a red and white shirt 1885-2011 in a Ist team fixture' Or Red army
  9. I'd agree with this, previous exploits don't count in football IMO,otherwise lawrie mac would have been successful at Sunderland, hoddle would have done well at spurs,Alan ball would have set the world alight at city and Nigel Pearson would have been nailed to the cross and risen from the dead by now (if some had their way).
  10. We are like man city or Chelsea of l1,we have the best, most expensive and best paid squad in the league but are too inconsistent, couple this with a manager who IMO is under immense pressure from NC as well as us fans to get auto promotion and you get average stop/start results.
  11. If we don't get promoted this season then IMO all of this speculation about the liebhers losing interest and selling the club will come to fruition. Adkins was specifically picked to do a job and if that job is not completed then he will be on a knife edge especially if we get new owners. You can butter last nights result up as much as you like but for whatever reason it was not good enough, relying on other teams around us to have a **** game is a foolish game to play if they had all won we would have been in the ****. I expect NC will have some choice words to say about it today.
  12. At his height he was very good and probably deserved a crack in the England team but he did have too many bad spells and long spells of injury. IMO he was treated badly which prompted his departure but that was probably down to our precarious financial position at the time. Anybody who booed him on his return should be ashamed of themselves.
  13. If GM is proved right then there should be some sort of apology but is this really football related news/gossip?? I couldn't give a rats arse if cortese trashed benali's gaff in fact I hope cortese did trash it as IMO benali is a tool. I am all for justice for GM but this should be resigned to one of the other forum categories.
  14. I believe that there are members who are employed by the club and if it was my forum I would actively discourage this.....any connection, however small is a slippery slope. What doesn't sit right with me is that the club has put restrictions on the echo and nick illingsworth yet nothing has yet been fired at this forum when some of the stuff written on here is sometimes a bit close to the knuckle. Is it because this forum is too insignificant to worry about? For the record this forum is no way as good as it was years ago but that could be said for nearly everything on the www,the screws have been tightened on everything and the Internet is no longer the lawless place it once was,but I still come on here because there are still some good subjects discussed although I'm not as enthusiastic about it as I was and probably won't be renewing my subscription as I just don't use it enough anymore.
  15. I'll let you decide that,do a bit of digging and see what you come up with.
  16. If I'm being honest the northam is full of morons who go to football, put on their biggest, hardest, deepest singing voices then toddle of home to the safety of their mums house. Northam ticket = pretend double ard bastard for 2hrs then back to being a mild mannered janitor for a fortnight.
  17. I think we had a chinese fella once called Fuc kyu Pompey
  18. Whatever the truth it is out of our hands and if the liebher family want to sell there isn't a thing we could do or say to stop them. All we can hope for from any owner of the club is to have reasonable success on the pitch and a decent infrastructure in place and for them not to run up dangerous levels of debt achieving that.
  19. I hope Plymouth pull through,I would hate any club to go bust as we were only hours away from it happening to us and as a fan it was a horrible experience. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen but it could help our promotion push if it did. Green army.
  20. I suspect that any monkey could achieve what Adkins has done with, let's face it,the most expensive, most talented squad in this league. If we don't achieve automatic promotion then I for one will want to know why not and I would expect action to be taken to rectify this.....even a playoff place will be a disappointment IMO. I suspect NC will be asking the same question as well.
  21. Owens biggest footballing mistake was leaving Liverpool obviously the financial aspects of it swayed his decision. he hasn't done a thing since then apart from pick up his inflated wages for little return,he didn't do anything of note last night that is going to convince any manager that he's still got it. Anybody deluded enough to think that he will come here as part of the oxo deal(something I've heard a couple of times this week from fans) need to wake up,he will never leave the north of England because of his stables which is his true passion. All these young players like Owen who are thrust into the big time at a very premature age are usually burnt out by their mid 20's (oxo take note),ok they might become millionaires very quickly but greed takes over and replaces your desire to play football.I think young players today should look at Ryan giggs as an excellent example of how to become a successful footballer and not Michael Owen. Any manager who is dreaming of signing Owen and hoping that he will once again become the player he was at 18/19/20 is just conning the fans IMO,I certainly wouldn't want him here, what did he actually do last night?....if you take away the goal and the interview I probably heard his name mentioned 2 or 3 times. The fella is a greedy little git with a chip on his shoulder about how little he has achieved in his footballing career.he could have been great but he blew it I'm afraid. The best team lost and the best player got MOM.
  22. Francis benali = tool. FACT
  23. I used to bump into him all the time walking his dog on the sports centre and he was a very nice bloke, always willing to talk football both when he was saints manager and after he left. Things went a bit wobbly for him towards the end of his saints managerial career but overall I think he did an excellent job.lawrie macs shoes were always going to be big ones to fill but I think he surprised a few people and held his own. His sacking was the start of the slippery slope,I think the family club image and the good old days ended when he was sacked IMO. I wish him luck wherever he ends up.
  24. Perhaps I should of said it shows that he wants to play football,it may not be for us but I would rather he threw his toys than go on strike. Tbh He will get over himself and Adkins would do well to try and hold onto him if oxo is doing a bunk,he may not want to play for us but how many players do you know play for anything other than money and i doubt there are many clubs who could offer him more than us.
  25. If bigger teams want to rape the lower leagues for talent then they should be made to pay ott prices.....after all they don't invest in their own academies but rely on clubs like ours to spend millions nurturing talented players,so they should pay through the nose for being lazy. IMO if the arse pay £10m upfront then a) I would be very very surprised and b) I would rip their arms off.
