You're quite welcome to join me at home watching the game on sky and sipping a cold magners if you like? And if it's man on man action you're after then we could always have a bit of a wrestle at half time if you fancy it....although you'll have to go easy on me as I've got a dodgy back at the moment.
-
That should keep all the 'football shirt wearing,I've got a hard singing voice on matchdays, brave behind a barrier' fans and the police busy whilst the real action happens away from the stadium and CCTV.

Top 6 prem level?...I don't think I'd go that far! He's certainly a good player but his temperament offsets all the good stuff he does and a lot of teams won't touch him.

Been placed on the transfer list and told he can leave on a free.... ' The relationship between the player and Newcastle has broken down over the last few weeks following strained talks about a new contract. A club statement said: "Joey Barton has been placed on the transfer list. The player has been advised that he can leave the club on a free transfer." Barton has also used Twitter to publically vent his frustrations and elude to problems within the squad at Newcastle. One posting read: "If only we as players could tell the fans exactly how it is, without them above fining us lots of money. There will be a time and a place." Barton had one year left to run on his current Newcastle deal and was told in May that a new contract would not be offered. He later Tweeted that Newcastle wanted a "younger, better, cheaper player."

I'm afraid, like it or not chambo will be going and I for one wish him the best of luck......I don't like it but if it was my boy I would encourage him to do exactly the same,I'd be a fool not to. Ok,so he doesn't get regular first team football for a couple of years at Liverpool or arsenal or whoever decides to pay the inflated price, but what he does get is a wage that will see him and his family financially secure for the rest of his life,we all want the best for our kids and I'm afraid that in these times of greed, cash is king. I don't agree with players forcing a move, breaking contracts, greed and the lack of loyalty but that is the way it is and we have to put up with it until such time as more power is taken away from the players and handed back to the clubs which will probably never happen. Tbh is chambo worth £10m?? I don't think so but if he's going then it's time to cash in sooner rather than later so it doesn't disrupt our plans for the new season IMO. NC is doing the right thing by fining the boy because if he didn't then the others would think it's ok to tout themselves around in the media.....not that the fine matters too much to a very rich young man. As I said before, getting £10m plus add ons for a player with little experience who cost peanuts to nurture is very very good business and I for one am happy for that to happen. Let's face it,we will never be able to compete consistently with the big boys and even if we could manage to finish in the top half of the prem (when we get there) for the next 10 years we will still have a fight on our hands to keep young talent as we havnt got the glamour, pulling power and finances the big clubs have and we never will.
-
You've got it wrong, this is exactly the point of our youth system. The club see it as an income stream, they are constantly looking for the next ,Walcott, bale or chambo to produce revenue for the club and to pay the costs of running the place. The club cannot come out and say that, otherwise the fans would be p!ssed off, although Lowe did come close a couple of times. £10m for a player that cost very little to nurture is very good business....after all liebher didn't pay much more for the whole club so in perspective getting a £10m player every 2 or 3 years is sound business.

James Beattie was at Southampton airport this morning....

I'd agree with this....Blackpool (who were prem last season) thought he could do a job and rangers think he is capable of doing a job in the top league in Scotland yet some on here are dismissing his ability to play for a newly promoted team from L1. I'd love to see him in a saints shirt again,I think it would jump start his confidence which he needs to score goals and it would shift a few season tickets IMO. -
We need to be signing players who are better than championship standard or have prem experience.....the problem is every team in the championship with a few quid to spend are looking for the same players.

I enquired about some work once about 2 years ago and it was more expensive than buying a new seat but I've heard they are very good.

Mike is a good fella,I went to school with his brother Paul. Whatever some of you think of him you have to remember that he is a dedicated saints fan and does a lot of good charity work...so what if he's had a few drinks and told a few jokes,I'm guessing everyone of you has done the same thing
-
The next step is getting into the prem then when we get there the next step is staying there, you don't want to be worrying about buying expensive prem quality players just yet. If oxo stays then great but if he goes then the money should be spent on giving us an advantage over the rest of the league, don't forget that we will have to compete with the 3 clubs coming down who will be flush with parachute money and will be paying inflated prices for players to try and go straight back up.
-
If we can get £8 mil for him then that amounts to 4 or 5 very good championship quality players...I'd be happy with that.
-
No fookin way would I give them a guard of honour......I'm not even in favour of shaking hands before the game, the captains should shake hands at the toss up and that's it. All the hand shaking should be done after the game no matter what the outcome and no matter what went on during the game. All this nicey nicey approach is not for me I'm afraid, leave the good will until after the final whistle.

Do Footballers still use dubbin on their boots
lordswoodsaints replied to Viking Warrior's topic in The Saints
I used to use dubbin and neatsfoot oil on mine when I was a kid,the oil used to soften them up....brilliant stuff,my dad used to make me clean my boots every week 'look after yer boots and they'll look after you'. -

Charlton 1 - 1 Saints - Post Match Reaction
lordswoodsaints replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Anybody who says they're happy with a 1-1 result needs medical help, obviously it is better than losing but we really needed to break that psychological barrier and grab that 2nd place, once we attain 2nd place the pressure is on other teams to take it from us but that didn't happen tonight and now the pressure on us has just gone up a couple of notches. Losing points in the last few minutes of a game isn't a good sign, why take Barnard off every game?,his work rate is excellent on and off the ball and we obviously lack that towards the end of games. -

The meaning of Life, The Universe and Everything
lordswoodsaints replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Saints
Sorry, but it's not NC's decision to make,he is just the 'site agent' ,if as reported the liebhers are losing interest then they are going to lose even more interest in an expensive team that can't get promoted from a sh!t but notoriously difficult league. As I've said previously, football is too unpredictable to set 5 year plans,it's ok planning new facilities and setting good foundations with youth development etc etc but to try and plan to get out of 2 difficult leagues and gain promotion to the prem is a joke IMO,if it was that easy to predict then my football bet would come in every week. At the start of next season we will be into year 3 of 'the 5 year plan',if promotion isn't achieved at the end of this season then I will stick my neck out and say that the plan hasn't worked and is probably off track, something which will probably cross the minds of the owners. Why chuck good money at a club which can't get out of this league.....they could do that by spending nothing. If I owned the club and Bournemouth got promoted over us then I would pull the plug on the cash and say go and do it the Bournemouth way,go and get promoted with rejects, players bought with a whip round and loans. -

IMO no promotion = new manager, losing some decent players and lack of interest from the owners/possible sale of the club This is not being a wristy more like being a realist. -
Ironically,I have been trying to read this thread during the match and it is as slow as a slow thing wearing lead boots.

I know 100% fact that the echo monitor this forum, the first job of the day for the junior reporters is to scan this forum for stories. IMO this is why the echo has been so sh!t for the last 10 years......lazy journalism.

If you ask me I'd say what we lack is the 'Manu mentality',Brighton have it and we don't. Playing well for each other, chasing every lost cause ball until you get it,not stopping until the final whistle and getting in the officials faces.

Walsall 1 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction

Don't deserve to go up I'm afraid. We were terribly bad in patches on Saturday but we got a result,it didn't sound to clever last night and we got punished. NC must be sharpening the knives.
