I would be surprised if a player didn't get ****ed off about being on the bench....it shows that he is hungry to play for the club. Would you rather he didn't give a toss and just collected his wages????

I havnt used the hospitality option for a Good few years but was thinking of treating myself and the boy to a bit of pampering for the united game. Is it the same as it used to be when we were in the prem or has it changed....used to be 10 to a table including food and drink,is this still the case? I think it used to be about £120 each. Anybody used it recently? Is it worth doing now?

Not at the moment,he is too low profile for them and far too much of a gamble. If he got us to the prem and maintained a long stay then he could virtually walk into any job that took his fancy.

In 1989 frankie bunn scored 6 for Oldham in a 7-0 victory over Scarborough.....I bet they wished that had him last night. COYR -
Saints vs Manchester Utd - 4th Round FA Cup Draw
lordswoodsaints replied to saint_bert's topic in The Saints
Have you ever thought that perhaps the reason why fans come out of the woodwork is because they want to see saints turn man utd over? And not come just to watch man utd. Tbh I can't see how it makes any difference to you,me or all the other regular fans, all the regulars will get their seats and will watch the game, the only difference being they will be watching in a full stadium and we might have to wait a bit longer for a beer. Get over yourself,a paying customer is a paying customer....I think I would prefer an otherwise vacant seat to goto a saints fan rather than a man utd fan who lives in Southampton, wouldn't you? -
If true then I would rip arsenals arm off....he's a young lad who isn't worth £10m....he could well go onto to be a great player but he could also get a career ending injury.....if he's worth £10m then how much is lallana worth?,I know which one I'd rather keep.

We have already made substantial bids for players

Whatever the amount is we need to start preparing a squad for the championship, better to do it now rather than in the summer. -

I've got 4 kids and no money but I managed it,if you treat it as a hobby then you might get away with it. It took me nearly 18 months and 2k but spread over 18 months you sort of get away with it :-) Go for it..... Not sure about the Brighton thing though.

This is my midlife crisis, back in the late 70's when the mod revival was in full swing I always wanted a Lambretta but was too young, for the last 30 years I've been meaning to get one, last year i decided to take the plunge and this is the end result. I bought it as a basket case from eBay and cost £400 but to get it to look like it does now has cost me about £2000 but it's been valued at about £3k so it's not really been a money pit. If you're looking to buy one then my advice is buy a complete bike that has not been dismantled, that way you know that most of it will be there and you know how it all goes back together. If you want a ld like mine then inbox me and I will give you a number of somebody who might be able to help you.

Thanks,im really happy with the end result, you must of had the later mk3?.

Here it is,more or less finished just a few minor fancy bits to add

I think they should check the carbon monoxide levels in that place, some of that seems a tad optimistic to me.

I'm with you, with the quality of player we have and the most expensive squad in this league and much of the league above we should be ****ing all over whoever is put in front of us but it's not really happening. Adkins has done ok but has he done any better than pardew would of? (for the record I'm not a real fan of either pardew or Adkins) Perhaps I'm over expectant too,but I think it is more case of me not being able to come to terms with our rapid decline after relegation from the prem and my desire for a quick return that clouds my opinion, but I'd like to think that we should be a league closer to the prem at the end of this season.
-
Our Christmas fixtures and the upcoming transfer window will be an indication of how good/bad we are and how serious the management/owners are about getting out of this crappy little league. It seems that intentionally or not NC has turned the heat up with his comments about getting promoted and although Adkins has done better than I expected he is under pressure and I'm not sure that is something he has experienced in his other jobs.
-
Is Adkins living up to your expectations?
lordswoodsaints replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Tbf he is in a better position in the league than every other manager,he has the best, most expensive squad to work with filled with quality players...we shouldn't be waiting for him to fill it with his chosen players, the players we have should easily be maintaining a top two position but they are not. He is in an enviable position that every manager in this league could only dream about yet he delivers a performance like yesterdays. Perhaps this squad is wasted on him.....who knows?? -
Money and the desire to play at the highest level will always outweigh loyalty. Whatever is being said in public will be the complete opposite to what is being said to the boy behind closed doors.....he will be off at the drop of a hat and who could blame him.
-
He did well last season because the team played to his strengths, this season there is less of the hoofball going on so lambert seems a little lost....couple that with his seemingly lack of fitness/interest/motivation and you end up with a player similar to Kevin Davies towards the end of his time with saints. He will probably move on in the near future and become an even better player,I certainly think his time at saints is coming to an end.
-
With the resources available we really should be storming this league and preparing for the championship but we are not.we are doing ok but I'm still not convinced that everything is rosy behind the scenes, lambert doesn't look fit or interested and one or two others seem to have gone off the boil. I'm giving the season so far 6/10 slightly above average......must do better.

Now the tax man is after Plymouth, too...
lordswoodsaints replied to Saint_Jonny's topic in The Saints
IMO it needs a club to go under for the rest of the clubs in trouble to pull their fingers out and realise they can't live above their means........at the end of the day it is cheating and it needs to stop for the good of the game. Pompey would have been the ideal candidate. -
I'm not defending their actions in anyway but if these people are going to be 'made an example of' and get silly sentences that don't really fit the crime then it will just be seen as lazy law keeping,a waste of money and exercise in how not to get the masses on your side IMO.
-
The sad fact is that these lads are guilty of nothing more than a bit of sabre rattling whilst the real action was carried out far from the ground in an organised manner away from CCTV and other interferences.
-
You wanna check the carbon monoxide levels in your gaff/car/pub
-
I think Brighton will still be in a good position at the end of the season but I don't think Bournemouth can sustain there good form, come January when the likes of us,Brighton and a couple of others have money to burn Bournemouth will drop off cos they havnt got a pot to **** in.
