If I was Mr Average, I'd agree with you. You're probably right in that I have used a product that I've seen on TV, but that was only to save me money, i.e. GoCompare.com and USwitch.com. But believe me, you don't realise how little TV commercials affect me and have affected me, over the years. As I say, they'd go out of business.

I don't know what people are going on about with such ferocity. I begin to question some people's priorities. Lowe was initially good for Saints, then very bad indeed. Cortese has been very, very good for Saints. After all, he brought Markus with him, and if being in the top ten of richest clubs in English football isn't a massive plus, then I don't know what is. If a little matter of installments for season tickets, and some particular £3 booking tax, is the biggest blot on his Saints tenure, then frankly, I look forward to a very nice future for SFC with Nicola at the helm. Let's face it, ultimately, either you can afford a season ticket or you can't, installments or not. :smt102

He's just offering the usual England message. Total crap, and one of the reasons why England never ultimately went all the way in World Championship competitions. Special teams have that special extra. England never had that back then. Besides, attacking midfielders are not normally noted for their defensive capabilities. You wouldn't see a Brazilian attacking midfielder anywhere near his own penalty box. In fact, he probably wouldn't recognise the area until the second half.

You forgot to add in the winking emoticon.

Name me a list of programmes that are unmissable on commercial TV. No, hang on - give me a list of TV programmes that are unmissable on any TV. Ultimately, if I find I'm ordering my life around the TV schedules, too much, I decide to go and do something more interesting instead. There are people in this world who watch, and there are people in this world who do. I would hate to be one of the watchers at a time when I could be doing something. Why do I watch MotoGP..? Well, I'm not young enough, nor good enough to race a motorcycle. So I'll watch them. But otherwise, there are a whole wealth of fun things to do rather than watching TV. EDIT: Oh btw, I'm not sure, but I don't think there has been a single TV advert, ever made, that has made me go out and buy a product. If commercial TV was depending upon people like me, it would out of business.

Well, in the absence of Rossi, the qualifying was a tad subdued, but the bikes were still flying. Casey Stoner is in real trouble, IMO. He got 3rd, in front of Nicky Hayden, but he reckons he did a banzai lap to do it. He did look ragged, but then he always does a bit. Nicky got baulked and still came in 4th. Pedrosa assured us that his pole position was NOT achieved on a hard race tyre, but a soft tyre, although it didn't have a white stripe. Hmm... porky pies..? 1. Pedrosa, 2. Lorenzo, 3. Stoner If everybody stays onboard tomorrow, I reckon it'll end: 1. Lorenzo, 2. Pedrosa, 3. Hayden.

I was about to post the same thing. It's Sandro Cortese, for anyone who is interested. He's German. EDIT: In 4th place was Nicola Terol. It did look a little odd when they showed the list of riders times. More seriously, just looked at Rossi's crash. That looked bloody ouch.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbikes/8723843.stm I read it and I almost didn't believe it. The bloke has never missed a race, ever. He hardly ever makes mistakes, and he certainly has never high-sided when coming off a bike. He's done a few low-sides, but that is just the bike sliding out from under him. I understand he could be out for upto 3 months. In a high-side, the sliding back wheel suddenly finds grip, as the power is shut off for a split-second, and re-applied. The bike literally catapults the rider out of the saddle. At 120mph, whatever the surface you land on, it isn't going to feel soft. If you haven't got Eurosport, qualifying should be coming up on the BBC MotoGP webpage shortly at... well the schedule says 11.50 to 15.00pm. But true to form, the Beeb are screwing us around again. If you had to put up with the dreadful coverage of MotoGP, on F1, you'd end up not watching. Ho-hum. Ah, here it finally is. 125s are still out, as I write: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbikes/7677201.stm

Nope. Don't watch commercial channels, unless I'm watching through my HDD/DVD recrder, which has a Timeshift facility. Then I flick through the adverts at 16x speed and they don't annoy. But basically, I don't watch commercial TV, as it is all pretty much rubbish, and I don't watch that much TV at all, anyway. Except avidly watching MotoGP races and a bit of stuff off the iPlayer.

I can sort of understand why people drop the idea of learning to play the guitar. But to go and actually buy one, have a go for ONE DAY and not touch it again, makes me think it was a half-formed idea in the first place. Over a year ago [with a gap of the summer months], when I decided to try to learn, I realised that I was never going to be dedicated enough to become any good. I'm happy to strum along, and perhaps pick a few notes occasionally. Well, I have been very easy on myself, but I can change chords, without making the notes buzz [most of the time], and I can play the odd tune. I'm normally utterly crap at this sort of thing [still am], but just plodding on, picking up the guitar when it suits me [i don't let more than a couple of days go by] for 10-15 minutes or so, has got me so far. Looking back, one year passes very quickly too. Pick the thing up again or sell it on.

Of course. You're more perceptive than I thought, Wiltshiire. -
The Playstation generation are getting fatter and more namby-pambied by the minute.

Blimey..! Got to admire their loyalty to him. Frankly, I think... well you know what I think. He signed alsoran players and got alsoran results. But then Liverpool don't seem to see that they have fallen from their high position because the rest of the footballing world has moved on. Shankly must be fidgeting in his grave.

If that's true, can we NOT let the lad leave before he gets sufficient development from us, playing regular football. Both Walcott and Bale's progress was held up due to them leaving a bit too early, IMO. Bale is at last starting to show his real potential again, whereas Walcott is still not where he should be by now. -
Have been on ITV4 all day, and only finished at 11pm..? Is that right..? Bugger..! Missed it. Oh well, there should be tomorrow, which I'm sure I'll mss too.

I did. It's about as close as a compliment gets on this site.
