  1. It's silly. Not so many years ago, England beat Germany 5-1, in Germany. You could see, even back then, how surprised the England players were in scoring as many as they did. It had nothing to do with Owen, Heskey, or any individual players, it was about what they had achieved. They simply didn't quite believe they were worthy of the 5-1, in the same way as the present team don't believe they are quite upto the task. It's a confidence issue, as it has always been with England sides. They are good enough, they just don't believe they are.
  2. Sorry, I got the wrong idea of your intial post. For some reason I thought it was about attending university. How about just getting her to school in some haphazard way, say via the neighbour, or something a bit community related, and then getting her a bicycle, when she gets older..? I'm a believer in getting kids to be self reliant at the earliest age. Taking them to school, on a magic carpet, isn't one of them. There is always walking. It's excellent exercise. No doubt the distance to said school will be a problem. Get a school nearer to home..? Move nearer school..? Teach at home..? A bicycle with stabilisers attached to the back wheel..?
  3. Apparently, 4-4-2 is hugely out-of-date, at the highest World Cup level now. I don't doubt it. Football tactics are like war tactics, except no individual dies when he is beaten. This England team aren't short on skill or effort. Just like the Saints teams of recent years, they are short of rising to their potential. The expectation weighs them down. Plus, they appear to have the footballing brains of a tortoise. I bet tortoise's brains are brilliant at chess. But not football. Thank goodness I have another country to be a fan of.

  5. Whilst I wasn't his [burley's} greatest fan, he wasn't anywhere near as bad as he was painted. I wouldn't be surprised if he does reasonably well at Crystal Palace. For his own sake, I hope so. Of course, when we eventually meet them in a couple of seasons, I expect to murder them. But that's as it should be.
  6. Al Green on Jonathan Ross's Show. I normally skip past JR, but I had to stay once I knew a legend was singing. WOW..! Let's Stay Together sung LIVE. What a voice.
  7. I was just interested. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ big hearted [
  8. I wish SKY would remove itself completely. From the entire media world would be far enough.
  9. Didn't watch the match because I had some fresh paint to witness going off. Should I have a go at the highlights, or are there any worth watching..?
  10. I shall have to look that up. EDIT: Ah, I see. It's just another form of scupper. A bit like a flat roofed house has a hole somewhere to drain away surface water to stop it from pooling. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ trooper
  11. Agreed. It's my understanding that Saints will not be too tight on the purse strings, while the club lingers in League One and the Championship, simply because the aim is to get out of those leagues, by the front door, as quickly as possible. However, the Premier League will be a different matter. Prudence and good business practice will be the order of the day.
  12. Nope, don't get the connection. Probably me being dim, at this hour of the day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Super [never ever managed to work out how a plumber with a moustache can actually be like that]
  13. To be honest, I think their noise verges on being worse than TCWTB. In fact, the more I think of it, I prefer that bell. And I loathe that bell.
  14. In a sport dominated by Welsh stars, he was one of England's Rugby Union players, during the 1970's, who got me interested in the egg shaped ball sport. A powerhouse of a player, who sadly died from prostate cancer, after being an ambassador for awareness of the disease. Which reminds me, must book that check-up. RIP. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/8746884.stm

  17. Moped..? Scooter..? Motorbike..? A lot, lot cheaper to run, insure, plus a lot, lot quicker than a car in a traffic jam. Buy a top box and some protection/rain gear, and it'll still cost far less than a car. EDIT: Failing that, an old VW Polo would be my choice.

  19. Getting overly excited today, hamster..? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- malleable
  20. What I want to know is, how on Earth did someone like Peter Crouch become the footballer who advertises everything, and is every lightweight's footy guest..?
  21. Another TT goes by without me seeing a single bit of action. I saw all of the North-West 200, and a couple of other road races, prior to the TT. Ah well... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just seen the Sony 3D HDTV advert. Yes very good, but why must the voiceover sound the H in HD, i.e he says haitch, instead of the correct aitch. It drives me up the wall. EDIT: Next, no doubt Z will be pronounced Zee instead of Zed.
  22. Whenever I see photos of Markus, I always wonder whether his doctor has him on medication. He looks a little jaundiced to me. But I digress. Well done the Swiss. Shame about the move where they hit the post. That would have made a cracking individual goal.
  23. Nothing to do with the League Cup 1st round tie, but something to do with League One. I notice the new tables are already out on the BBC website. Have a good look Cherries, it'll be the only time you're above Saints. League One Table
  24. But Ponty is right, that's a 2-stroke. He's not being that clever. Ponty is a closet/not-so-closet MotoGP fan. He's knows full well that the 125cc class is for 2-strokes. It'll smell like a 2-stroke, as well, rotary valve or not. EDIT: Personally, I'd jump on one, given the opportunity.
  25. How about being into this lambretta..?
