Yes, excellent. My point exactly. Let's not be confused here. When I say I don't want the clocks altered, I mean that they should stay at BST, and NOT go back to GMT in the winter. The results are well known as to why it is a good thing to do. In fact, I'd even put the clocks forward 1 hour in the summer, from the BST base time. I've heard about how light it was in the evenings during WWII. Can't say it hurt the farmers that much back then, and it was a greater benefit to everyone else. Which it would be today.

It seems to have been on every CH4 offshoot all summer. I think I've accumulated about 10 seconds of viewing time as I've flicked past all of them. What are the viewing figures..? Any luck that this will be the last one..? What would Davina get hugely overexcited about instead..?

Nah, that old chestnut is over and done with. Nowadays cows are milked by automatic milking machines. Barely anyone is involved in the process. EDIT: I know they have been for years, but now the machine can hook itself up to the cow. All the cow does is walk into the pen.

Do you get Seasonally Affected Disorder then..? About 4 years ago I remember getting quite depressed when the clocks went back [le god knows why they still do that bloody outdated maneuver every year], and it didn't start to lift until just before Xmas. It wasn't Xmas that was the reason either; it was Dec 21-22 and the shortest day had passed. Last year was really quite bad. I was quite grumpy throughout the winter months. Normally I haven't done grumpy, so I've been surprised with myself. This year is entirely screwed as far as I'm concerned. If Parliament/Govt suddenly announced that they would no longer be putting the clocks back, I might just forgive 2008.

Any relation to Paul Smart..?

If I re-took it unprepared I'd fail. I'd pass if I studied beforehand.

Indeed. it's the same sort of mentality that gets a hard working, and fairly talented professional footballer like Darren Anderton to gain more recognition from a deluded football association than an unmitigated genius like a certain Guernseyman. And I make no apologies for praising the foreigner over the local man. Genius speaks louder than locality.

Tell you what then... You want something dramatic, yes..? Then choose Mozart's Requiem. There isn't anything more poignant or more dramatic. Anything more would be over the top. Anything less would be pastoral. Mind you, Mahler's Symphony No.1 takes some beating. I was only joking about the Vision On Gallery music, as you probably worked out anyway.

Jan, how long has he got? (not looking for an arguement)
St Landrew replied to Thorpe-le-Saint's topic in The Saints
Of course you can debate this subject. My question is, why on earth would you want to..? The bloke has been here 5 minutes. Give the poor sod a fraction of a chance, at least, before the skids are put underneath him. -
Great, great goalie. Whenever I see him make a save for Fulham it makes me smile. He's still got the magic touch. Great shame he has that wrist injury. I think he could have played on for years otherwise. So many magic moments from his Saints days, e.g. the triple save, etc... But the standout for sheer fun was when he hit the crossbar at Craven Cottage, and Svensson headed in the rebound. The players couldn't decide whether to mob Antti or Michael. Lovely stuff, and a reference for how Saints were at the time.

Not at all. I just think you're extremely premature with this thread. Try around February-March time, if it is required. Hopefully not. -

In all honesty, I really don't see why anybody is even beginning to debate this. I thought fans were supposed to be supportive, not undermining in nature..? Even starting this thread does nothing but cause uncertainty, even at a minor level. -
So Curbs did what Keegan was going to do. It's like a false start in the 100m. Keegan feinted to go, and Curbishley actually did.

Hey, what about Vision On's gallery music..? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=R4Iq7RkpvxM

Coldest August in the UK since 1929. The Jetstream is once again too low in latitude this year. It's been hanging around over southern England or thereabouts all summer, getting as low as middle France at one point, I noticed. During those few days in August when we had a few sunny, dry days strung together, it sat where it should be, which is slightly north of the Shetland Isles. If it maintains this position, Britain gets a nice warm, to hot, humid/dry summer, depending on whether the late spring was hugely wet or not. The Jetstream's position was the same last year, and I fear it will be the same next year too. It's really buggered my warm weather sailing up for the last two years. Frankly, I don't care what the bloody Jetsream does from now on until next April. I'm not going to be fobbed off with some nice weather this late in the year and be asked to be grateful for it.

Exactly as I thought. Actually it's the return of James, for another south-coast screening.

Good indeed. Notice the comments on the bottom of the article from a contributor called Denzil. I do hope we don't have him as a member or registered user on this website. -
Oh well, one man's... And now I'm definitely off up that wooden hill.

That obviously took a lot of soul searching, and thought. It's the pessimistic place we might all go to, but try not to. In a sense it harks back to an era when Saints were a much easier club to support. But as supporters who have to rise above that sort of attitude. This club is here, and the personnel change, but the fans stay. Or most of them at least. One day it may be just some of them. Maybe most of us will have gone our separate ways eventually. But we support for the times when it won't be so. It's a fine balance, between this family club, and big success, big club attitude. Who wouldn't, hand-on-heart, welcome the next mega rich owner to walk through the door. It's really, really nice to see the young footballers playing such great-to-watch football. But I'd also like to see Saints be the best. Isn't that what we always hope for them..? Btw, Wes. I kind of agreeing with your last post. I thought I'd make that clear because I'm off to bed and won't be answering any comeback.

Well, it isn't too far-fetched. Saints have qualified for Europe quite a few times over the years. I'm not sure we belong there, but it isn't something to laugh at.

Now here's a hoary old theme. But how many of you think of school summer holidays, and a black and white dubbed version that seemed to last the whole holiday long..? It first came along in 1965 in the UK, and was repeated every year until the early 1970's. I remember coming in from playing outside, switching the telly on, and there it was again. It was on so many times, I'd think... flipping 'ell - that again..? Well nowadays I kind of miss it, in a nostalgic way. But not now that it's on Youtube. The whole 13 episodes, in around 10 minutes chunks. Just for the hell of it, I'm watching the whole thing via Realplayer 11. I thought it would be awful. It is, but I love it..! Try some: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qFwC4UYEXBs

Don't trust it completely though. Find someone with Powerpoint 2003 and run the thing through. I would anyhow. There's almost nothing worse than a presentation screw-up.

Now there's a chappie who obviously doesn't realise our Paralympians came second in the medals in both the Sydney and the Athens Paralympics.

All you do is pop Jaguar XK 150 into Google Images and you'll find loads of pictures. I thought this poster was a little different. Very appropriate of the era. Can anyone spot the slightly odd thing about it though..?
