We have to admit that when problems arose for Pompey back in the PL days, and when the new start was revealed as a false dawn in the Championship, at least they did the decent thing and started trimming their budget and relying on their young players in order to steady the ship and salvage as much as possible for the unfortunate creditors of the club... for one match; the austerity game at Plymouth (http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?14620-Pompey-Takeover-Saga&p=1441141#post1441141) Never mind the £150M tax money gone, this is the one game we will always remember where Pompey showed that football is a gentleman's sport...

Considering the number of times people on here have written off a player only to see him come good, I astonished that the same is happening with Ramirez. If it has to do with the transfer fee, forget it - that's not an indication of his ability. The transfer fee was also used to mock Rodriguez and frankly its an irrelevant argument unless you are discussing economy, not team performance... The question I would ask is: does Gaston have the skills to be a great midfielder regardless how he is performing in the team at the moment. My answer would be that yes, he has everything that is needed from a creative midfielder in the Premier League (I may be wrong here, but this is a discussion I feel would make sense instead of the "he was useless, worst player ever" comments). If so, then I see no reason to write him off as he needs to find his place in the team and in the league. And no, I don't think a season is too much - especially since we brought in a new coach halfways. Have a little patience and some faith in the coaching staff...

Avoided!

Yes, but "the same" is what Reading wanted. It would be unfair to expect a manager to reinvent himself everytime he moves club - he is who he is

6 of our last 7 opponents are in the bottom 8 of the form table: http://stats.football365.co.uk/dom/ENG/PR/oform.html We really can't complain about those fixtures...
-
Nah, can't hate him for doing what he does best: scoring goals
-
Maybe they should have turned to Guy and the kids a little sooner: http://stats.football365.co.uk/dom/ENG/D2/oform.html Mind you, Connolly seems to be making all the difference. Cracking player he is, when fit

Depressingly true
-
This will be a good chance for MP to get his first win against a team in the bottom half of the league in his 5th attempt. Luckily his record against teams from the top half is excellent
-
Great result - feels like we're going to make it this season! Last 20 minutes were quite tense but the team is resilient. Next week we finish the job!
-
What loss? They probably never paid for the training ground...

Judging by the comments so far, the locals aren't buying the "cult hero" nonsense. It's an utterly desperate attempt at... well, I'm not even sure what they are trying to do with that "article"...

A reasonable assumption with regards to the Swansea match being shown here in DK. We see them a lot ;-) I'm still on paternity leave by then, so no traveling from me. If people manage to swing by Aalborg I'll fire up the barbecue and get some beer -
Random thought - could we get Kenny Lunt aboard just for the spoonerism?
-
Yup, here we go again

Oh such bigotry. Pochettino looked very smart in those jeans - can't say I didn't notice it too...
-
Actually his W2 D4 L2 with a +1 GD (7-6) over the last 8 games isn't too shabby!
-
That was one of the things that made Schmeichel a great keeper - he really kept the defenders on their toes...
-
I noticed, but I wasn't surprised. I was more surprised how he ran the show against us at Anfield. He looked 10 years younger that day

10 minutes of highlights - with french commentators http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xy94ji_s3-1l-www-fasthighlights-com_sport That first goal is a thing of beauty. Cork keeps his cool under pressure (38 seconds into the video) and catches Liverpool off guard. Lambert, Ramirez and Rodriguez play their part and Schneiderlin's finish is very good too. We could have had a handful in that first half and I was wondering if we'd regret only being one up at half time. But even though we created less in the 2nd half we still didn't surrender, and Rodriguez' solo goal was a worthy finish to the game. Get in! Boruc played yet another good game with some nice saves. Trolling Suarez should win him many friends all over the world. The defense looked fairly solid with Yoshida again being a central figure - I really hope Hooiveld is not seriously injured as he has upped his game considerably over the last months, and we need him for tactical reasons. Clyne is still raw but a hugely talented footballer with an immense workrate. Shaw just keeps impressing me. See 4:52 how he nicks the ball back from Johnson - Shaw is so thorough and concentrated in everything he does - it still amazes me to see from such a young player. Schnork is just a match made in heaven. Let's just hang on to those guys for as long as possible... The trio is now Lallana, Ramirez and Rodriguez and whatever people on here may think that's actually a very dynamic, creative and mobile trio that did very well today. Rodriguez keeps improving, Lallana looks more like his old self and Ramirez to me is also adding something valuable to our midfield and offense. There is still room for improvement from each of these players, but I see no reason to give up on them. Puncheon is disappearing fast and I assume he just doesn't fit well with Pochettino's tactics. Davis on the other hand is evolving into a handy alternative to Gaston when we need less flair and more metres covered in midfield. Nice to look at the league table - especially if Wigan manage to lose tomorrow. QPR and Reading seem close to dead and Wigan need to pull a Wigan in order to get back in the hunt. Also, getting Sunderland involved can only be positive for us...

Top marks for trolling Suarez

Great result!!!
