As mad as this might sound I’d actually jump at the chance to have hoddle back.. was one of the best England managers ever .. was amazing here too and also made us solid as Fuck defensively which is something you hardly ever think of Southampton being .. everyone seems to have some weird we must get in young managers attitude but hodgson was great in the prem.. hoddle might not be young and in the best health anymore but I’m 100 percent certain he at least has common sense, knows how to set up a team well and would probably be an idol to the likes of Fernandes and dibling coukd he really do any worse the the Towie version of Jan poortvilet ?

Mate even if we brought back hoddle adkins pardew or puel they would all be a huge upgrade you gotta be creative to think of anyone worse

Martin still being here makes zero sense at all. This clown has lost nine out of eleven games, we are slow in attack and shit in defense due to his tactics . Even the Everton win we got super lucky. I’m struggling to see any reason at all that the board think he will turn it around. Surely this isn’t about saving a poxy 12 million when the board like to buy about 25 players each window ? Just can’t get my head around it

I’m more annoyed at sports republic then I am Martin at this stage. Absolutely shocking. Every man and his dog can see it’s not gonna work under Martin yet they allow this madness to continue .. and with every game our chances of turning it around are getting worse . some people credit them with spending money but I think even this is skewed they haven’t really raised the amounts we spend on a single player we are still spending around the 20 million max on a single player which we where close too about ten years ago they simply have just bought in bigger quantity. So I give them no credit here either

That’s one game, over the years we have seen enough of bed and jack to know they are about same level .. slight preference for stephens as generally he’s better on the ball. russ will play captain Jack anyway as he likes him more then me

Ramsdale yuki Thb stephens. Kwp Downwa Aribo Fernandes dibling. Archer. Armstrong strongest line up we can put out atm gets arma in whilst only losing manning .. slight personal preference for aribo over lallana and jack over bednarek

I find it mad that everyone seems to want him to fail to be proved right ..this is the man who just got about 50 goal contributions last season and was absolutely key in getting your team into the premiership in the first place. he’s getting into scoring positions most games which is more then most of our players are doing to call him not premier league player is super harsh

Judging goals by appearances is a crap way of judging a striker.. go with starts if you have to. don’t you think he’s looking a lot more lively this season then he did under hasenhuttl ? From what i remember under Ralph he was quite anonymous .. but this season he’s getting into scoring positions in pretty much every match he’s played and also contributing in some chances created. He looks a lot more confident this time around ?

Well cometh the hour cometh the man. as I was saying in the week he’s been lively most appearances this season so no surprise he pops up with a goal.I think he takes a lot of grief with people thinking he’s not premiership quality but as long as he keeps getting in the positions he has been goals will come .Martin spoke in the post match conference about archer not getting much support so hoping he’s thinking of fitting arma back in

I’m guessing the reason he flopped at villareal was because in a technical passing side he doesn’t have the technical ability and kinda sucks ., probably why villareal where open to giving him up dirt cheap .. looks like he’s more the type for a direct shit house team like sheff utd .. we didn’t really do our homework on this one

To be fair I think it’s harsh to criticise him for changing starting line ups. when you haven’t won a game not giving others oppurtunitys would look just as stupid .

Actually think he’s at his best in this wide right position, he is at least getting involved in creating chances and seems confident in shooting on sight and we know he can finish. I think there’s room ti fit him in whilst keeping dibling in and it probably upgrades our attack

Personally still think he looks really lively this season even though many think he’s not good enough for the prem .. couple of efforts vs city plus he delivered a superb cross for onuachu,, again vs arsenal he played a key part in a big chance , he looks more confident then last time in the premiership and surely even the doubters can see he’s looked pretty lively most appearances ?

You talk of being a super power or going for the big prize . Let’s just say if russ did even get us to koeman levels (which he won’t ) big clubs would just pinch him anyway .so your dreams are pretty flawed

Regarding squad being that bad archers scoring goals dibling and fernandes both look great and creative Arribo having a good season holds the ball well and has decent ability in creating time for himself on the ball kwp and yuki both decent Ramsdale top class keeper that’s the majority of our side and we have had the likes of bednarek and stephens in the prem before and done nowhere near as bad is this really that bad ?

Yup blaming it on the squad is bullshit ,, Bournemouth have a much worse squad then arsenal didn’t stop them getting a result . Yet we can’t even hold a lead vs anyone. Last couple of games we’ have had the lead which usually should make it much harder to score for the other team but it’s not in our make up under russ to be able to defend a lead

Not sure how you can say Aribo should be nowhere near the team ? He was fantastic on Saturday and easily one of our best players.. I was hugely impressed by him he just makes time for himself on the ball. He deserves to start and looks more premiership quality then downes tbh

Today has flagged Another characteristic under Russ that we simply cannot handle momentum shifts,as soon as Leicester got their first goal we all knew it was coming ..ironically russ coined the term “ scar tissue “ but it’s become even more of a trait under him. I think you have to be bordering on insane if you think he can turn it around now

Disappointed it is then .. thought this might happen even though archer got the goal onuachu made himself a lot more involved .. bad decision imo

I’ll be very very disappointed if onuachu isn’t starting today. He looks to have the lot .surely he’s even a better option for the passing game anyway as he simply holds the ball better .. surely a no brainer for him to play

But as said a lot of this with hindsight . Also don’t really think davis is better then Fernandes or dibling even though it’s early days . I think the main differance is we ended up having 3-4 realky top players in that side .. I think we would have been better off taking ths approach in the transfer window too , spend more money on 3-4 really quality signings instead of buying a load of cheapish signings who are not really that much better then we already had

I’m not quite buying this argument that our squad is so poor no manager would do well .. our promotion team under adkins had a ton of players that came up from league one with us .. yes in hindsight there was 3 or 4 with quality lallana lambert schneiderlin etc but they wasn’t proven at the time .. arguably this team isn’t a whole lot worse barring having a quality cf in lambert .. we still had the likes of fox and hooiveld. then you had the pissooor teams mlt managed to keep up.blaming it on the squad is a bit of a cop out a good manager would find a way to make us hard to beat

No disrespect intended but it being a high fee for the championship is the wrong way of looking at it .. his value is his value .. just because we where a championship club when we bought him does not entitle us to some discount where we get another championship clubs top striker for 4 million or something .. look at the fees we paid for adams and Armstrong and that was years ago
